Son in trauma area. Nurse care terrible. My son not fed anything for more than 8 hours after surgery. Surgeon cleared him for regular diet, we asked nurse for lunch at 11 am, said he would request and lied about it. By 5 pm, still no food and had to ask front desk person for a food while my son was taking pain meds. Finally fed by 7 pm. Several other patients on floor had not been fed all day. mMedications were not being given. Had to keep advocating for meds; nuse stated if my son was in pain & asked for meds, then they administer. Patient is responsible to inquire and make sure meds are distributed. My son would inquire, hour and a half goes by... no nurse with meds. Advocate parent calls and says my son has been inquiring and not getting care, you guys need to get down there & provide care; we are documenting. Front desk person comes out & confronts parent stating we have no right to say "do your job & administer medication.". Nor do ee have the right to be concerned about not being permitted to stay in our sons room at night, while he has not been receiving proper care all day without constant advocating. Never have i been to a hospital where patients on medications are required to track & tell staff when to medicate, they dont document urine or stool output, nor feed patients. (i had to go to cafeteria to purchase food because none being provided while taking pain meds). Met two other patients while there for just two days.., all of us experiencing identical issues. This violates Grants policy regarding patient care & safety. Not to mention Ohio patient governmental standards. read more

My care at Grant Medical Center was not as stressfull as I thought it would be the staff were professional and attentive. Surgeon Kaura did an excellent job on explaining the procedure and the rest of the Trama team. Especially RNs Angela ,Cami, Camilla, Anna Amberley, Bailey ,Natalie, Shanice, Angie, Haley . PSA Tim, Mayrin from Trama on the 5th floor are the definition of providing exceptional care. They made me feel at ease and comfortable. Especially during the wound changes Answered any of my questions. They were great! Surprised how good the food was and the selection. The mac and cheese was delicious and build your own hamburger as well. I was also able to order snacks between the meals (pizza!). Antonio from nutrition was very helpful The only ding is one of the chefs adds too much lemon seasoning to the green beans and the broccoli. read more

Worst emergency room experience ever. I came in, in an ambulance, due to chest pains and difficulties breathing. They asked me if i was under a lot of stress and anxiety. I said yes. They asked if i wanted to harm myself. I said absolutely not. They put me on a psychiatric medical hold for 7 hours. Took everything i had, including my cellphone, and stripped me nakedness. I told them i had dogs in an non air conditioned garage and needed to call someone to get them. They ignored me. Idiots. If i was suicidal, what would happen to me if my two best friends died a horrible death. While the nurses were cracking jokes and mimicking an elderly patient begging to go to the toilet. read more

The nurses are stu asf. I asked if my bfs mri came back okay because he had one done the day prior and she said she didn't know how to work the computer but she said she assumed he's okay because he didn't die and then made me change his gauze and wipe him down for surgery because she was fighting with another nurse and they were both trying to tell each other what to do but they got mad and threw all the stuff at the foot of his bed and yelled that I could do it. They obviously have no idea what is happening at any point of the day it's so sad. They checked on him every once in a while which was fine but they still pissed me off because nobody communicated what was happening ever because they genuinely didn't know what was happening. I was also cornered against a wall by a crack head and only got away because of a cop that walked up and then drive me to my car. That place is also gross asf. read more

Trauma Center? More like a center of trauma!!! It sure left my sister more traumatized! Shame on you all at Grant Trauma Center!!! I don't even know where to begin. This center is hands down awful. My little sister was just discharged from here from a horrible car accident because she wasn't getting the basic decency and care that a human being deserves. She asked MULTIPLE times for food & water as she hadn't eaten or drank anything for 24 hours since her car accident. She wasn't heading to surgery & was able to have food & water, however, the nurse said, "I ordered some food", but hoursss went by & nothing. She asked for any kind of ointment or medication for her face & hands as they have major cuts/gouges allll over, & the nurse said, "I'll ask the doctor", & the never gave her any updates/answers/or anything for her. My mother and father decided to get her discharged due to the poor quality of care & lack of human decency. She left was blood alllll of her, glass from her windshield stuck in her face, lip, hands, neck, & hair, etc. They never once cleaned her wounds, physically examined her injuries, or offered her any comfort of any kind. She also never even saw the doctor, not once. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible place. I do NOT recommend. read more

Been in the ER since Monday and it's THURSDAY and he was admitted on Monday night still no room! Some of the The 1 shift nurses are rude! How I ask for the warm pks and blankets and this nurse pictured tells me that's normal he had a lot of blood loss! IDC HOW NORMAL SOMETHING IS! It's cold in this room, u can't get a accurate reading because his hands and feet are ice cold! My grandpa is 79 yrs old IM NOT GOING TO LET HIM SUFFER BECAUSE U DONT WANT TO GET A WARM PACK FOR HIS HANDS!! So as his granddaughter I'm to the rescue! Hot water in gloves worked wonders! Then night shift came and gave us plenty hand warmers for his feet and hands! 3 DAYS HE SUFFERED until I brought in his heated blanket! This is crazy and that nurse had a attitude every time I asked for her to do something and always telling me what she CANT DO instead of what she could do! If it was her grandparents or a loved one she wouldn't be treating them like this! There's a sign saying that if u get loud or yell at the nurses u will be removed and banned from the promises. So I bite my tongue and just kept my cool for his sake! I love my grandpa and if I gotta speak for him I will. Sometimes I feel they see so many ppl a day and work very long hours empathy and compassion is sometimes lost! It's Thursday and now he has a room. We're on the 9th floor and these nurses are so kind and willing to make him and us comfy!! They even brought in a bed for us to sleep on!!! I was in the trauma ward for CCU for 5 days and on the 5th floor trauma wing for another 6 days this is by far the worst hospital I have ever been in. I would say it's one step above a nursing home. 5 broken ribs chipped hip bone and stitches above the eye and elbow. Not one day did they have me up to walk, sit up, or shower. The call button was a joke as was any type of PT The food was horrible. There were a few good workers who took time to care and explain things but that was not the norm. On Thursday, Nov 13, 2025 - I had a severe pains in my intestines - being Deaf, they are required by ADA law to provide access to communication. The ambulance EMT after shouting at me trying to force me to speech-read, finally realized to use his cell phone to type messages/questions. Upon arriving at the ER - it was FREEZING cold, so other patients were right about that. Ridiculously freezing like a freezer but the staff felt warm due to moving around all the time. Ever heard of compromising? Then the male nurse struggled to find a vein in my left hard and kept poking few places until he got some sonogram to find a vein, he wasn't deft for sure in that area. I asked for in person ASL interpreter, they IGNORED my request. Stuck with a Martii device and the interpreter often had a hard time hearing the nurses who moves around a lot and are far from the Martii device. Sometimes the viritual interpreter struggled to understand me as I was in a lot of pain. So that's an F in my book for their negligence to provide an IN PERSON ASL interpreter. Then they took me to the MRI cat scan - when I realized that they were wanting to use contrast dye, I said no due to allergic reaction to it. Then they wanted me to use steroids, again, No as I have severe sensitivity to it. Suddenly all of the staff demeanor got ugly rude and displayed offensive facial expressions of disapproval. One chubby female staff kept trying to force me to speech read, I demanded her to WRITE on paper as they didn't provide a Martii device for an ASL interpreter. Rudely she huffed and rolled her eyes and found a paper and tried to convince me to accept the alternative drugs to use the MRI. I denied them and said drop it and take me back to the ER room. After that, the entire staff, nurses, doctors, assistants were all aloof, unfriendly and disappointed - literally taking it personally with my rights to choose what is safest for me. They were the worsts medical staff I have ever experienced in a hospital setting. I will never set my foot there again. Surprised that hospital is still running with these awful rude arrogant medical staff. read more

The actual OBGYN doing the delivery was fantastic. The hospital staff in post partum and the male pediatrician were incredibly rude and judgemental They threatened us with CPS, made my wife cry told us that our newborn would die and refused to respect our religion. Let's start with the positives: SAFE. Felt very safe as Grant has plenty of police presence and security. Even with police and sheriffs constantly bringing injured criminals and inmates through the ER, I never felt threatened or unsafe. PROFESSIONALISM: Every staff, nurse or doctor we encountered were very courteous, helpful, and professional. No grumbling or short-tempered responses or resistance to questions or requests. COMPETENT: Felt like all the nurses and doctors were competent and thorough. They asked all the right questions; they were very patient with us; and they did not at all try to push any unnecessary tests or procedures. Negative: WAIT TIME. We waited over 4 hours to get back to a room in the ER, and my daughter was brought in by ambulance for a suspected seizure. Some folks in the waiting room had been waiting over 6 hours. That is UNSAT. I asked if we could be transferred to another ER closer to our home, but it was not the same network. Grant has to do something to increase ER capacity. Of note: Cafeteria was open pretty late and had pretty good food. Plenty of options and very affordable. Nice bonus while we waited so long. Grant gets a FIND ANOTHER ER OPTION if possible. I should have told the Ambulance to take my daughter to Mount Carmel or Nationwide Children's. Godspeed! read more

The maternity staff and nurses are wonderful! There were some hiccups in communication regarding meals and a couple nurses trying to rush through things at the end of their shift but overall I'm so grateful for the amazing staff we had in the postpartum floor. I had a rough delivery and after struggle with how overwhelming event was while trying to recover. The nurses were compassionate and patient and encouraging. The lactation team were also amazing!! Went to the ER after having some breathing troubles, and got in and out in about 2.5 hours. After getting my information and taking some quick x-rays, they had me diagnosed and on a treatment that has given me some of the best quality sleep I've had in some time. No care! We sat in the waiting room for 8 hours receiving no diagnosis or explanation of results received into MyChart. While we waited we witnessed a disabled man piss himself twice because no nurse was available or when one was they were not willing or too busy to assist. We also watched two pregnant women writhe in pain and cry while waiting hours for care. ED Techs took vitals but no one could say how long it could be or offer referrals elsewhere and when you asked they were rude and offered to have you check out AMA. Absolutely disgusting behavior. Many patients left in conditions they shouldn't have. The last straw was being told visitors must leave the waiting room because it was too crowded - we were asked twice and then forced to leave the patient we brought in experiencing fainting / blackout issues. My hospital stay at this department of Ohio health on August 1st, was the most horrible and degrading stay I have ever experienced with a medical facility. after having surgery I was taken to the 9th floor where the attending nurse placed me in my room and did not take any vitals, did not administer any medications, no food or water for 4 complete hours on this one day. She intentionally removed the call light from my reach and closed the door and stated that she would return. I yelled , screamed and cried for help and no one came to my room! This went on from 1pm-5pm and it wasn't until after I called my doctors office & family members that another nurse came in the room. I SPOKE with hospital personnel who promised that they would look into this matter and call me back and it's been 5 weeks and no one has called to give me an update regarding their supposed investigation of the way I was treated. This place need to hire professional staff members who want to work and know how to respect & treat patients. When talking to the charge nurse Mellissa, I informed her that my ride would be picking me up at 4:30 yet she was persistent that I leave immediately and to take a cab home! I informed her that i will not be doing that and will leave at my own time & manner. The disrespect is totally unacceptable. The treatment I received was total humiliation; animals are treated better than this. And whoever you have as security they need to be a little more respectful and not as pushy. My mother came in for Gallbladder surgery. They put her walker across the room and she ended up falling trying to get to her walker and broke her hip. When she tried to call for assistance to go to the bathroom it took a minimum of 40 minutes for someone to respond to help her to the bathroom and she would end up soiling herself. When I would walk down the hall, I seen all of the PSA's lounging in the conference room. The communications between the doctors and the nurses was poor at best. I could not get any information on what was happening with my mother. The social worker was completely incompetent. She drug her feet to get approval to go to a rehab facility. It took her over a week to get anything accomplished and kept blaming it on the insurance company when she could have been following up to see what was going on read more

They are making me press a star but I say zero stars! Every single encounter i have had with Grant emergency room since 2012 has been horribl! this recent trip topped the cake. I took my neighbor there because he started suboxone treatment (did the right thing) and the suboxone center sent him home to take the first dose he had been in opioid withdrawal for almost 72 hours he took the first 8 milligram dose the way he was directed and 30 minutes later he was in the worse withdrawal I've ever seen and he said he's ever felt I took him to the er and explained why happen. first they thought he was ODing when I asked for help getting him out he car tht made them go into oh well mode them they thought he was withdrawing from opiates and told him there was nothing they could do and that he needed to go to lock down rehab so he won't run and this is in the lobby they are screaming this whole he's cryin beggin for fluids because he felt dehydrated he had been pukin and throwin up sweating profusely but they kept sayin they don't treat withdrawal it's only gonna get worse so he better just deal with it VERBATIM ! they would not check his vitals. they told him they did not have any room. because he was determined to get clean he waited til morning and went into the clinic and reported What happened they told him the nurses should have given him 4ml of suboxone until the symptoms stopped! I looked it up online and it said the same! thank God he was determined to quit because someone who was unsure would have definitely just ran to the drug man after being treated like that yelling at someone in front of a lobby full of people that they need rehab is not a way to treat any human those nurses need their license taken, even if they don't treat withdrawal symptoms of any kind they still could have been more respectful and resourceful instead of screaming u need to go to rehab they could have quietly given him or myself a print out of rehabs acceptin new patients! no stars! if grant is the last hospital on earth just let me die! read more

The bone and joint center were very professional and caring! They helped me and got me to my room asap. The surgery had me very nervous but one of the girls held my hand while I was getting anesthesia and were very sweet and talked to me in a calm and soothing voice reassuring me I was going to be okay. When I woke up from my hernia surgery I had some pain and of course a bit loopy and the nurse didn't even skip a beat she went and got me some pain killers and even a soda to drink. While I've had biopsies before in other locations, I can honestly say that the people working at Wilkins building on the third floor are perhaps the most compassionate and empathetic people that I've come across in a long while. I went in for afib. In 9 hours, they had not controlled the heart rate. They had not started an anti-coagulent, nor had a cardiologist seen me. I left AMA because the pain of being on a cot for that long was causing too much hip and spine pain. The next morning, I went to Riverside Methodist Hospital. Within 6 hours, they had the heart rate under control, an anti-coagulent had been started, and I'd been seen by a cardiologist. Grant is a dangerous joke. Be careful to check your belongings for bugs when you go home. There were bug traps on the floor in the ER. Bed bugs, cockroaches, who knows. read more

Grant is really close to me, so I usually come here for any routine tests, but I don't think I'd ever choose it for something serious. Every time I've been here, everything's been okay, but never great. The people here just don't quite seem to fully understand professional patient care. For example, I was recently in Radiology, and most everyone was extremely sweet and helpful. And then there were the students who came in and talked smack about the outdated technology being used for the scan I was actually in. One of the students also mentioned that the same test at a different hospital was significantly shorter than the four hour test I was having run. Then I went downstairs in between tests and got a little work done (They have free wifi! Yay!). I overheard so many hospital employees chatting with each other and saying really inappropriate things out in public. From patient privacy, to talks of being fired, to their lunch order for chicken wings--I heard it all. And very loudly. So, yeah, nothing terrible has happened. But if they can't perfect the routine stuff, I'm definitely not coming when something serious happens. I'm totally heading to Riverside. read more

Horrendous ER experience. The person I took there was in serious condition having suffered a fall which resulted in facial and arm injuries. It took 4 1/2 hours for a Dr. to see him. In Grant's negligence, Grant provided no assistance to help him to the rest room upon him being told he was being dismissed (after 5 hours). He fell and sustained furher injuries requiring a 2-day hosptial stay and costly surgeries. The hospital stay was no better. No communication. No plan. A completely "disintegrated" approach to the patient experience. No one introduced themsevlves and expalined what they were doing. No one could answer any questions about what time surgery was going to be or "next" steps. Additionally, numerous techincal errorswere made,e.g., machines not being hooked up properly, no personal hygiene provided to the patient, the on call nurse coming in asking where the patient was (he was in surgery!) then covering by sayhing she did not have time to read his chart! Trying to get ANYONE from Grant to hear and accept feedback regarding the patient/customer experience has been next to impossible. No one is willing to stand up and take responsiblity; everyone just shifts the focus to another department: Nurses to Drs, Drs to Customer Service, Customer Service to Customer Relations, Customer Relations to the ER Managers, ER Managers to Risk Management... It's total CYA at Grant. Have had experiences at Riverside and OSU which have been outstanding. Stay away from Grant! read more

I am ALIVE and WALKING thanks to the trauma team at Grant. They are a Level 1 trauma center and one of the best in the country for a reason. My doctors Dr. Hill (Trauma), Dr. Narayan (Neuro) and Dr. Wu (Vascular) made sure I got the proper care and procedures to put me back together. All the people that took care of me, the NP's, RN's, PSA's, occupational therapy, physical therapy, were all helpful, courteous and made sure I was taken care of. Also I guess this next part is for Ohio Health, the parent company, but I had a billing/insurance snafu that the people in Financial assistance and Billing took care of very quickly and hassle free. If you are in a life threatening/trauma situation, this is the hospital to go to. read more
