The nurses on the 4th Floor Tower at Mt. Carmel West rock! My husband received excellent care post-surgery. Skilled, attentive, very caring.

Here is why: Whole trip was from 5:50 pm-8:10pm Have you been to other ER/EDs.... ? Oh they are awful. This was new, clean and efficient. I have been to OSUs ED only to encounter people waiting to be seen from the night before. So to seen right away was impressive. To have access to a doctor within 5 min for what I was presenting was ideal. I presented with blurred vision, severe headache, and loss of sensation on a limb PCD sent me there to be screened for stroke. Im an ex athlete so have had my share of injuries, have had a neck injury that causes these symptoms but am also a cardiac patient so whenever this presents- off to an ER I must go. The staff here was better than OSUs ER and faster than St Anns. I was also presenting stomach pain sonthis doc did what my PCP did not - he cat scanned me and got right to the heart of what was causing much of the issue -an ulcer. If you do go there fingers crossed you get the two nurses named Christa/Krista and Dr Falk. All excellent.

My recent trip to the ER came after a severe seizure (no idea why) which caused me to fall out of the shower, shattering a glass door. The squad took me to the ER. I was dehydrated in part do to medication side effects and not drinking water for some hours. They needed a urine sample and I was not able to urinate They started an IV of fluids and I suggested drinking water as well. (they said no that's not necessary) After an hour they decided to bring water for me to drink. They decided on using a catheter and I refused. No discomfort and I was very dehydrated. They insisted and I said no. 15-20mns later a new nurse walked in holding a catheter device and I said no.... .. I woke up at 2am because a group of nurses were talking and laughing really loud. I finally yelled "SHUT UP!" they stopped and they woke me up at 5am yelling and laughing. I called for a nurse who told me it was " too awkward to deal with this because they are my colleagues" The next morning I was asked again to do the catheter. Before noon I was able to fill the urinal with 20oz and did so 4 more times that day. I'm fine and they never did determine the cause of the tremors. I've heard numerous bad experiences from others who went to St. Ann's and won't return.

I'm home from the hospital after the third bowel obstruction in 5 months and uniformly abysmal and…read moreincompetent treatment for the third time as an inpatient at Mt. Carmel Dublin Hospital. The first night, when my obstruction was at its worst, even though the NG tube was inserted in the ER by about 10:00 pm, and I was admitted around 10:30, the suction pump ***was never attached or used until the next morning***. As a result, more than 1000 ml of bile and stomach acid was allowed to fill my stomach and put me into extreme pain and frankly, torture for the entire night. When it was finally hooked up for suction around 9:00 am the next, the canister filled to its maximum in less than two hours. Remarkably, again that night, the tube was not monitored at all by the assigned floor nurses, and allowed to move from the proper, previously x-rayed insertion point of 75 cm, to 16 cm, as confirmed on Weds by an RN again making it useless overnight, who again made insincere apologies. This was outrageous, especially under the circumstances. The RN who came in that morning said that was obviously the reason that there was less than 100 ML in the canister, and that not only would it had to be re-inserted, but also X-rayed again, and process that took at least another three hours--again, during which I had no relief from pain and nausea, and during which bile and stomach acid accumulated in my stomach. In any event, I was so concerned about the substandard and unsafe "care" I was receiving, I experienced terrifying anxiety, and asked for and finally received Ativan, which I was given subsequently a few more times. This did help, although it didn't change the incompetent and unsafe nature of the "care" at Mt. Carmel. Eventually, I met with "Amanda," the hospital charge nurse, and asked her point blank why I was again--for the third time--subject to this kind of incompetence and callous treatment. In front of the hospitalist, my shift RN, and a rep from the pharmacy, she stared blankly at me and did not respond. I asked her why the nurses and the surgeon could not even agree how or if to stopper the NG tube at certain points, and told her that by day three, the tube had leaked enormous amounts of bile and acid onto my gown and all over my bed. I asked her why she was not personally involved and not holding all these nurses--who one way or another report to her--accountable for their lack of training in using something so basic; their refusal to monitor the tube to ensure it stayed properly inserted at the right place; and then, when the nurses had not done their job, why I still waited hours for the staff to rectify their mistakes and get the tube quickly re-instead and X-rayed with ANY sense of urgency. Once again, too, for the third inpatient stat at Mt. Carmel in a row, just getting an answer to the call bell was often impossible. Most times it was not even responded to within 30 minutes, and several times, much longer. Three times it was never responded to, and once, when the tube was already almost out, it began leaking and I had to BANG ON THE WINDOW AND YELL HELP at the top of my voice to get anyone to come because they were ignoring the bell. I also had to constantly chase down nurses to get my pain and nausea meds--which were ORDERED BY THE HOSPITALIST FOR FOUR HOUR INTERVALS. Not once were my meds brought on time and not once without my personal intervention. This is my second formal complaint to both the Joint Commission and the Ohio Board of Nursing, which ignored my previous complaint filed with that organization on December 17 of last year. I find this even more outrageous and negligent. I expect an immediate response to this complaint, and I expect to hear from you without delay. As a disabled veteran I am alerting the Veteran Community, who might have the misfortune to be admitted to Mt. Carmel Dublin Ohio, of the unsafe and incompetent they can expect in this hospital.

I walked in & was checked into a room quickly, then an older nurse with short blonde-gray hair came in, I was trying to explain my symptoms which was difficult as I had not been able to sleep in over 24 hours, was having trouble breathing & feeling very lightheaded. The nurse got extremely rude & basically said she didn't know why I didn't go to riverside hospital & that she "didn't know what my expectations were here." At this point I was crying & my sister that came with me was getting upset. So we decided to leave as this was turning into a horrible experience. Then as we left that same nurse was asking if we were sure we wanted to leave & how they would take care of me but is saying this outside around her coworkers after she behaved so rudely inside the room when it was just my sister & I. I'm very disappointed to be treated that way in an ER of all places!! I know many nurses & people in healthcare & they were appalled to hear how I was treated.

We waited a long time. We watched everyone go in and leave. Then when we were finally seen, the nurse was extremely rude. She said he looked fine and said the doctor said he looked fine. She had her back to us the whole time entering info into the computer. She never turned around to look at us. She never offered a kind word. She had a terrible attitude and was very unpleasant. My son's sodium level was dangerously low and he needed to be admitted to the hospital. So we ended up taking him as the transport would have taken several hours. He was at risk of having seizures or worse. The next time we need to go to the ER we will make the 30 minute drive to Riverside Hospital where we can get real healthcare professionals to see us.
