I attended an estate sale and it was a pleasure. Martha and her crew were great people, very friendly and inviting. They were helpful with some questions on some stuff I found too. The house was well organized. It was always kept that way too. I saw the workers reorganizing as people were "browsing" the stuff. Some people just have no courtesy and thoughtfulness of others. The prices were very reasonable, much better than other sales I've been to. Pricing is hard cause you have to try to make some money, yet you want to have sales too, so there's quite a fine line, and they jungle that line quite fine. We were told by our real estate agent that we needed to clean out my mom's house before we could put it up for sale. The house was 3400 square feet and packed with STUFF... PACKED!!! We didn't know what to do. Our agent recommended Grason's and gave us their number. We called Martha and she was responsive, prompt and had one of the hardest working crews I have ever seen in any industry. Her crew did an AMAZING job in a such a short period of time. They had that house staged, all the "stuff" priced and ready for sale in a 1/10th of the time it would've taken me and my family to haul it all out and donate. The sale went really well and the results were far better than we had anticipated. We opted for a "haul-out" when we set up the contract and Martha did not disappoint. Everything was gone, when we returned, and the man with the "magic broom" had it cleaned up, and ready to hand over to our real estate agent. The whole experience was painless and very well orchestrated. The only thing that I'm sorry about is that, I can only give them 5 stars. They deserve WAY more than that. The worst experience and estate sale I ever experienced! Martha, I can't believe you sold everything so cheap, except for a handful of items I might agree on. You said you had experts that come in a put a value on everything. How dumb was I to believe that! You priced items so high that they did not sell. The purpose of the sale was to liquidate things, not to have you keep them after the sale and leave so much in the house. I only received 44% not 60% from her $5,600.00. You said to us when we signed the contract that it would be a 3 day sale and you only sold to the public 6 hours on Saturday 9/23 and 2 hours on Sunday 9/24. No way could sell all that we had for sale in that short of time. I could have got better prices at the Good Will. I never gave my consent for you to steal that 55" TV and I'm certainly not selling it to you for $50.00, and I see where you added to the sales list and still took your 40% commission? Not happening!!! I can't believe you charged 40% on that TV that did not sell, You only texted me after my friend caught you on camera stealing it that it did not sell in the estate sale and that you are paying me $50.00 for it for your daughter. My friend saw that you had that TV covered up in a blanket by the register. You had no intentions of selling that to anyone. That was a brand new Samsung 4K smart TV that my brother bought just a few months earlier at Walmart's for $485.00. If you want it you will have pay me $250.00 which is a great buy since it is new and still under warranty! And, what about that Solid Oak dining room table with the glass that my brother paid $400.00 for the glass top with the 4 solid oak chairs.? My friend also caught one of your friends with it loaded up in a truck going down the street with it. That was a solid oak beautifully refinished with the chairs that I want $1,500.00 for that set. My friends also caught your assistant/husband or whoever loading up your Van truck that was already loaded from the front to the very back of my stuff from the garage that did not sell. What about the all the Aero products that was stacked up in the garage that cost my brother $3,400.00? You left just a few empty boxes strewn all over the backyard What happened to the rest for the cases? And what about Ron's passport you posted on the website for sale? We never found it in the house? My friends caught you stealing all of the good stuff from the garage and also, I told you that all of any car parts you find were NEVER to be sold because they went to the race cars when I sell them. Those car parts that you show you sold cost me $5,000.00 off the sale of those race cars. You said you were going to let the people that purchased those cars take those parts, then when they showed up to retrieve them you would not give to them. You wanted to them to pay for them. You also told me if they took them you were going to charge me your 40% commission. You cannot take 40% commission on my stuff that I did not want sold nor can you charge me 40% on anything that did not sell. You never even gave us the chance to go through everything you pulled out from the house or garage and to keep what we wanted like you said you would before we signed your contract. It seemed like the minute I signed that contract everything changed and we were not allowed to go through what you found when we returned to the house. You also said if we took anything we wanted you wanted your 40% commission on the items. This was way before the sale and even when I asked you how much would that be a you said you didn't know. I can't believe that you could stoop so low as to take advantage of us coming from out of state and to steal from a grieving family causing more hurt rather really helping them through this tuff situation and have compassion and respect for their things. You are a THIEF AND A LIAR. How can you live with yourself? Anything you say to the contrary I have witnesses, proof, and caught you on camera. I texted you about the Highboy chest of drawers , dining room table and chairs with a $400.00 glass top , not on the sales report, the 2 highboy winged back chairs in new condition and the 2 electric recliners that my brother just bought 3 months earlier from Living Spaces for $1,200.00 which I have proof of. Not on the sales report. Also, Dave confronted you after the sale on 9/24 about the boxes of tools you were loading up in your van and you told him they were sold. Why would they be going into YOUR Van? And Twyla overheard you saying to one of your relatives that you "were sorry that the owner's friends got here before you and couldn't take anything." She took advantage of us knowing we live out of state and it took us over a month to clear out everything she left, which an entire house full left all over the place, lawn, garage, workshop, that I could not even list the house for sale until everything was cleaned up. read more

Martha was able to hold an estate sale at my in-laws condo with only a week to prepare. We had to move them to assisted living very quickly because it was no longer safe for them in their condo filled with so much stuff that it was hazardous. Wow! I've went to Martha's Sale in Pico Rivera last week and was blown away. I've been to many estate sales, I've also set up many estate sales, the level of organization and work that went into setting up this sale was astounding to say the least. Never have I ever had a better shopping experience, everything was clearly marked, perfectly categorized, the staff was friendly and professional (not always something you get from estate sales) and the prices were very fair. While I was there I had Martha show me some of the more interesting Coca-Cola items she had for sale (there was a lot), her knowledge of these odd items that I had never seen before was very impressive and actually was enough for one of my friends to decide they had to buy it. They also had one of the biggest table saws I'd ever seen, they even cleaned it up and supplied some power cables to test it out. I feel the comments about Martha and her crew being well organized are accurate. But, she is not clear on how she organizes her sign up sheet on the first day of the sale. In the estate sales industry, a sign up sheet is used as a civilized way of coordinating a mass crowd to indicate who will go in and shop first, and so on. But it doesn't really work when people cheat the system. Especially when Martha is partial and shows favoritism as to who gets on the list first, which are primarily her friends. Her rules say that a sign up sheet will go out "early" without indicating a specific time on the first day of the sale. So, will the list go out at 5am or 7am? No one knows. Needless to say, when I showed up at 2am, there were already 15 people on the list and no one waiting outside. No cars, no line markers, no people, nothing. Just an empty street. Let me first explain that it's typically common courtesy that if you're going to get up early for a sale, then it should be on a first come-first serve basis, similar to how things are done at Best Buy when they expect a big crowd. You get up early and stand in line. Period. Martha shouldn't allow 15 people, most of which I realized were her friends, to sign the list at 8pm the previous night, go home and sleep, and conveniently show up minutes before the sale starts. In the meanwhile you had other people waiting in front of the house for 6-7 hours the morning of the sale. If the list went out the previous night at 8pm, it would've been fair if she let EVERYONE know that by stating those rules on the Terms & Conditions of her sale. But again, her rules simply states that it's going to go out "early." So she deliberately makes the rules vague. This causes confusion and results in a lot of angry people that were properly waiting in the morning wondering why people are just cutting in front of the line. Very confusing and frustrating to say the least. If it's your show, it's your responsibility to make the rules clear to EVERYONE and FAIR for everyone. But Martha clearly states that her sales is not "the same as everyone else." That's obvious when you're showing favoritism and you verbally admitted that you're actually okay with that. It was also obvious that the 15 ppl were Martha's friends bc they knew each other on a first name basis and she called them personally one-by-one explaining to them that someone had trashed the original list that morning. (Wasn't me, but someone else that felt the same way, obviously). Imagine you wake up early to go a big sale at Best Buy. You get there and find that you're one of the first in line! Awesome. Then a hour before the store opens people start showing up and begin standing in front of you, claiming "that's the rules, they're allowing this." Then when the people running the show gets there, Martha gets upset that she can't find the list that had all her friends on there. So what does she do? Gets a picture of the original list and puts all her friends in the front again. Basically telling me and everyone else that showed up early to F themselves, bc her ppl get to shop first. And it's her sale, so if you're not okay with that she'll threaten to kick you out if you voice your opinion. So, apparently you are allowed to call Martha the previous day and ask to be put on the waiting list, saving you a trip bc she takes names over the phone. You can also add all of your buddies too. You can also show up the previous night and sign the list for yourself and all your friends, go home and rest, and cut in front of 30-40 people who all legitimately waited for hours in the morning. Thanks for being such a fair and ethical person Martha! I wish you could clearly state your rules so that some wouldn't have to waste hours and hours of their time. Please make your rules CLEAR and FAIR to EVERYONE and don't be partial to just your friends. read more

What a team! Friendly, hardworking, and most importantly, EFFICIENT! They had over 100 people on the first day of their West Covina sale this past weekend, and they made sure to keep the line moving and assist every single customer with a smile. Unfortunately, there were a few rude customers who were dismissed in order to keep the line moving, which I appreciate because I hate entitled people who come to these sales and demand discount and hold up the line as if they think they are above everybody else. Martha and her team treated everyone with dignity and respect. If you were removed, you need to ask yourself what you did wrong and not put the blame on her team. Her team is here for THE CLIENT. Went to their sale today in El Monte. When the list was put out there were 6 names already on it. All signed in the same pen and with the same handwriting. They let the first 6 in THEN called the rest of the names on the list and lined them up. THEN the had people sign a waiver. This obvious stall tactic gave the people inside a good 5 minutes headstart to buy which is all it takes to grab all the better items. I just left. If you are going to let friends and family get first shot at buying, don't do it the day of the sale...do it the day before and not in front of people who, by the way, probably waited 2 or 3 (or more) hours in line for your sale. read more

Martha Garcia contracted with me for 2 and 1/2 day sale. She ended up only running a 1 and a1/2-day sale. To me this was a breach of contract, decreasing sales, clients and shopping traffic by one full day. She did not apologize much less make any offer to compensate! She just said, "it won't make a difference". Of course, it made a difference to me and the final sales total. Her explanation for shortening our sale without my agreement was, "due to parking regulations the city would only give her a 2-day permit". (perhaps she could have made it two full days with Fri. and Sat.) If she had pursued the permit 6 weeks earlier when I pointed the parking restrictions out to her, she could have done something different. Or perhaps Fri./ Sat./ Sun. sale (no parking restrictions on Sunday) She called to change the original dates, then I reminded her the reason she had not chosen those dates to begin with. (4th of July weekend, that I pointed out to her at our first meeting) Example of her scattered or lack of experienced approach to management. Went to my house to mow the lawn in preparation of the estate sale... while they were setting up, Martha was doing loads of her personal laundry in my washer and dryer!! "I work so hard, I don't have time to do my wash at home" she told me. She did not even ask for my permission first, seem embarrassed or apologize for the breach of personal chores versus business ethics and responsibilities to the client. Clean out after sale was to be on Monday, they did not show until Tuesday afternoon. And when they left they did not leave the keys (some of which she knew I did not have duplicates). When I called her for the keys, "I will UPS them today"; it took 8 days to get them! This lack of consideration on her part held up my realtor from showing potential clients by 8 days. And then the labor charges came in at $1296.00! After the fact, I was told this property was not actually in Martha's territory and our friend that used Grasons' in the area and close to the same time had a very smooth and successful two and a half day sale. Having serious second thoughts regarding hiring Grasons' for our next estate sale. read more

Let me start this review by saying I have not ever felt compelled to write a review but in this case I wanted to share my experience so others don't go through what I experienced. I hired Grasons Co. Estate Sales Services, Martha Garcia as a "professional company with experience" since I was left with the task of liquidating my mother's home she lived in for 48 years. My mother is no longer able to care for herself and live on her own. We as a family, decided it was in her best interest for my mom to move with me in which I live in another state. Living out of state is another reason I wanted a professional to help liquidate my mother's estate. I wanted to hire a company that was professional and someone I can trust. I personally went to Ca and met with Martha with Graysons Co. We discussed the process and signed the contract. I gathered all my mother's personal belongings and memorable items that I thought my mother would want. Martha told me she would sell all the remaining estate. I left the home in a clean and extremely organized condition since the home was listed for sale. Martha indicated with COVID we would have better sales by doing an online sale. The online sale was a complete failure; I believe it failed due to the lack of advertising and the platform used for the online sale. Additionally, the sale was held on a Friday during the day time while most people are working. Martha decided the next day she would do an "in person sale". Again, it was a failure. Likely due to the short notice and lack of advertising. I watched the online sale on Friday and felt Martha did not do research on any of the antiques or collectibles since she often referred to an item for sale as "a thing". A lot of the items were not properly staged or items were left in boxes. How can your properly sell something online when items are in boxes and not displayed? Clearly, Martha is not a professional appraiser. Based on Martha's figures, my Mother's estate was valued close to $16,000. After the sale was over communication with Martha was sparse. Martha left my mother's home in a complete disaster. Martha left all my mother's belongings and the estate out on floors, all the countertops, tables, hallway and the walkways throughout the home. The home was no longer presentable let alone a home to show for sale. With me living out of state, I was left in a situation not knowing what items sold, what items were left, what items were missing. Simply I did not know the status of anything. I finally spoke with Martha, she indicated she sold approximately $1800 and she had no intention of returning to clean up or put belongings back into the proper place. She indicated she has a "pick up man" that would come and take everything away for $600. I finally received a check 3 weeks later for not even half of the sale; $591 to be exact. I go to lots of estate sales - I buy and sell vintage clothing and textiles. I very much like Martha and her crew - her pricing is always fair and things are well organized. They always have bins for "hold" items and those are well attended. There is always help available, and everyone has a friendly face. Martha held my sale a few weeks ago. I was so unhappy with her. She lied to me about pricing and the amount that she collected. Since I was not allowed to be there during the sale, 5 of my neighbors kept an eye and ear out. A couple of them told me what she charged for a painting and it was considerably higher than what she told me she sold it for. She way over charged me for labor, then when I complained, she told me she would reimburse me.....which she has yet to do. Small claims court here we come! I recently had an estate sale in May. I met with Martha to go over what to expect with the sale she looked around and assured me that it would make a good sale. I was told that I could not be there on sale day. I especially asked her what happens to the leftover items she informed me that it gets liquidated or cleaned out and given to good will . I asked to specifically if I could have a last look before it gets cleaned out? She said "yes"...this never happened by the time I got there everything that wasn't nailed down was gone! I did notice that they did add other items of theirs to the sale and I can't help but wonder if I will see any of my mom's things at another Grasons estate sale.
