A sad specimen of a dog park. Figured I'd give this a try after getting tired of the people at the Port Chester Park. I regret coming here. It's tiny, there's trash everywhere, and the sewage plant is loud and smelly. I took my pup here on a Sunday morning and it was dead. We waited for half an hour, but no one showed up - and no wonder. There's so many more nicer parks around, don't bother going to this one. The only reason I give it two stars is because I guess it could be worse? read more

I visited Grass Island Dog Park for the first time last night with my puppy. There was plenty of parking and a nice new path with stairs up to the park. After following the path up, at first I was disappointed with the park's appearance. There are two fenced in areas. One for large dogs and a smaller area for puppies and small dogs. They both look pretty run down and in need of some care. The few people there were very nice so we gave it a chance. My dog had a blast with another young dog there. Since it is the only facility of it's kind in Greenwich, we plan to come back often. Cons -- The large dog area is almost all dirt and wood chips. My dog was filthy when we left. The view around the fenced in area was not great at all and seating was limited. Pros -- There is a water fountain for the dogs and bags are provided in the fenced in area and at the entrance. There were some great paths to walk in the surrounding area that were nicely maintained. The other park-goers were friendly. Was expecting a little more from this dog run. Things it has going for it: - Size - Plenty of parking - Has drinking water access for dogs but not in runs - Has 2 separate runs (big and small dog runs) - Seems like a safe area/park - Port-a-Potty in parking lot - Has poop bags - Adequate fencing but a few spots that need fixing Things it has against it: - Limited seating - Limited shade - Ground cover is grass and dirt, can get muddy - Smells (right next to a sewage treatment plant Have started a dog run/park tour outside my usually NYC area dog runs. First, its hard to find this dog run if you miss the green sign that sort of blends into the foliage/background. If your a local than this isn't a problem for you. There is plenty of parking in the dedicated parking lot for this run. There is a port-a-potty in the parking lot just in case nature calls for human types. You have to walk up some stairs and when you get there, to greet you is a field and a big sewage treatment plant. Your not going here to enjoy the view. I think they can make this a solid 3 star run just by improving the fencing and seating situation, along with bringing water into each run. Changing the ground cover and adding shade might bring it to 4 star territory but the smell from the sewage treatment plant puts the brakes on that. I brought my Vizlsa puppy here last summer, so excited seeing the map on google maps by how large this park appeared to be. Arriving to the fence line, at the top of the cute little steps to the park I was sorely disappointed. This park just lacks life and looks completely abandoned, there was nobody there, no grass, minimal trees, no bushes. It's next to a sewage plant and it's noisy! It's a sad and embarrassing dog park for the fancy town of Greenwich. With so much wealth and wonderful, responsible dog owners, we should have something comparable to Rye Town Park off-leash dog park, which I now enjoy with my V, we drive to Rye every day and everyone is responsible and takes care of their happy dogs. Greenwich dogs deserve so much better! Is this how we value our dogs? I'm considering moving away because my dog doesn't have an open legal space to run in my town. read more

The town of Greenwich should be ashamed of themselves for such a poor excuse for a dog run. It's basically a dirt rectangle on a hill next a sewage plant (literally 15 feet from running sewage) with one tree for shade. I just don't understand how such an incredibly wealthy town, where most residents own at least one dog, has this smelly dirt hill as everyone's only option. Such a shame. The park I go to in Harlem (Spanish HARLEM!) puts this one to shame. read more

Road trip w/Mayhem and the boys to this small jewel of a dog and people park. Colin threw tennis balls for Mayhem while Tommy and I strolled the park. "Large Dog" and "Small Dog" fenced areas. My small nephews (3 and 4) enjoyed it very much and we went several times over the summer. Older children with a love of nature and/or a remote control vehicle may love it, too. Only dog park in the area that I know of. The dogs have plenty of room to run and there is an area for smaller dogs. I don't have a fenced in yard or an invisible fence so this is the only place my puppy can run freely. It is not in the most beautiful area (next to sewage facility) and its not greatly cared for, but it's a great place to go to meet other dogs. The times that I have gone even if it was cold or if it was a weekday, there has been at least a dog or two. My puppy always comes home a bit dirty but worn out. *They have run out of bags before, the garbage needs to be taken out, and the water has not turned on yet. :( I go here often and love it. Everyone is friendly and I love seeing my puppy run around, but there could be many basic improvements made. read more

This park has very large fenced in area for all dogs and a separate smaller area for small dogs. Some people have left a couple of toys and balls. There is running water and bowls, as well as a kiddy pool outside the fenced area to rinse your dog off. They can get dirty, but that's what playing pups like! I have been there 3 times and met different dogs each time. Most owners pickup after their dog, but I noticed some poop there, so I would urge you to pick up after your pooch. They pups come home very tired.......and that's the point! It would be nice to know good times to go, so that there are pups to play with. The best times for me was Friday evening around 5-6 and Sunday AM 11-1. Maybe others will list their good times to go as well! read more

Took my 9 month year old puppy here today and had a blast. I'm not sure how many dogs frequent during the week, but on a Saturday morning we had about 5 pups running about. The place isn't exactly eye candy, but it's great for dogs to run around and let loose. My pup definitely had a blast, would recommend to anyone. Not a bad place. The dog park is separated into two sides...one for large dogs, one for small. There are benches in both areas for sitting and garbage cans for picking up fido's waste in the supplied plastic bags. No view to speak of unless you're into the workings of municipal water treatment plants. Park in the lot and a small set of steps brings you up there to the area. This is GREENWICH!?! Don't even waste your mind energy, let alone your physical energy, considering this place. There is barely any grass for dogs to roam or romp. The sewage plant literally borders the back fence of the dog park. The smell hits you before you even get out of the car. Dog poop everywhere. Not to mention the lack of trees which makes for a dog sauna for all to sweat and pant in. Very disappointed with this place. read more
