    Traditional pasty

As a Brit in America, I crave good ole British food. If you are looking for an AUTHENTIC tasting pasty, then this is the place to go! Bloody delicious! Super hot. Plenty of good quality filling, and the pastry was on point. Wish I lived closer as I'd be in there every week! The pasty was huge too. I shared one with hubby and we were stuffed. Owner/baker was lovely. And the kids behind the counter were super polite! Overall: YOU GOTTA GO

Cousin Jack pasty. Mostly potatoes and a touch of steak and very under seasoned. Dough was quite raw. Quite disappointed.

Was excited to hear that a new pasty place had opened in the old location for cousin Jacks. I read in reviews that they were different than Jacks but tasty. Unfortunately, our experience was not great. As far as customer service goes, the guys running the place seemed really busy and haphazardly asked for our order. When I mentioned something about Cousin Jack's, they made a point of saying here that they were definitely different. Indeed, they are. We ordered two cousin jacks, one chicken, and one ham and cheese. The cousin jacks pasty was dry with mostly big chunks of potatoes, some skirt steak and that's about it. It was very under seasoned, and even after vinegar and salt it still lacked the flavor I was hoping for. The chicken was flavorful with a heavy mushroom flavor. The ham and cheese was good, but my son said he wished it had more ham as it was mostly potatoes. All three had pockets of raw dough. As somebody who grew up in grass Valley, and had plenty of pasties, growing up from Cousin, Jack's, Marshalls, or way back in the day double bees, I was sad that this was my experience, as I always like to grab one when I visit the area. Maybe we happened to get a bad batch. I hope so. Lastly, for four pasties we payed $62. Quite a hefty price for a lot of potatoes. I usually only leave positive reviews but wanted to provide some honest feedback for those who are used to traditional pasties in the area.

Stumbled onto goodness! Hearty meat filled pastry shop (they do have a veggie option). The menu is small but the portion and tasty are big! Love the Ham and Cheese. The Pulled Pork and Chicken will be devoured by tomorrow. The guys in the shop were very friendly and helpful. Shop seems to be very popular for walk in and pick up. There is some seating outside. The corner location and across the street from a parking lot, this is an easy place to visit. And if you are near by, you should often.

    Last bites!

Dropped in during the rain yesterday and completely enjoyed the classic pasty. As a youpper when you know you know! Ian and Lisa.

Love at first bite! We have been driving up to Grass Valley from Marysville to get these amazing pasties since they opened! From the crust, to the fillings, they are amazingly delicious! We have tried almost every pasty that they make and we have never been disappointed! Each pasty is big enough for two people, (or one person with a huge appetite!) and they really are worth every dollar that they cost! The last time I was there, I bought a dozen of them, putting several in my freezer, to thaw and reheat in my air fryer toaster oven; they reheat very well. We haven't bought any pasties anywhere else since Grass Valley Pasty Co opened, as they are "The World's Greatest Pasties!"

This is a very small spot with no seating inside or out -but don't sleep on the pasties! They are so good - freshly made and they get the filling to crust ration perfectly. The fillings are well seasoned and just juicy enough but don't make the crust soggy. They guys who work there are usually making pasties as you order so you can see how the magic happens.

Pasties: Ham & Cheese, Cousin Jacks & Pulled Pork. Cousin Jacks: Traditional Cornish Recipe. Skirt steak, potatoes, onions, and parsley.

We called right away, and while the employee apologized and admitted it was their mistake, the only solution offered was to "take it off the bill." That doesn't really help when you've already driven 30 minutes home and now have an incomplete meal. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. Offering a refund doesn't fix the inconvenience, the time lost, or the fact that part of our dinner was missing. A better effort to make it right would have gone a long way. We didn't just lose money...We lost time, convenience, and part of your meal. A manager should have gotten on the phone and said something like, 'I'm really sorry, we messed up. Let me fix this for you.' A sincere effort to problem-solve, not just a refund. Really hoping more attention is paid to orders moving forward.

Not high-end or fancy, but just down home with great food…read more Friends had been telling us to try it as they come and really like it, and I trust their opinions. Since we were in Grass Valley we headed there for lunch. The interior is woodsy and homey, with a country edge. There's a pleasant inside and a really nice outdoor patio area. We opted for indoors as it was a bit cool outside. Seated right away, we got menus, which are EXTENSTIVE, for breakfast and lunch. The omelet section alone is mind boggling. Service was quick, efficient and very friendly. These folks have it down and probably have worked there for awhile. After perusing the menu and getting iced tea, I chose the Long John burger (ordered medium rare) that seemed very tempting and Ed got the Caravan sandwich with Roast Beef. We both ordered a side of the Sweet Potato fries (included!). Expecting a tall juicy burger difficult to get my mouth into it and super messy I was pleasantly surprised to get this very long piece of bread instead. It was much easier to eat and I wasn't slobbering it all over myself. Bravo! The flavor, amount of meat, grilled onions and everything else on the burger was perfectly delicious. Ed's sandwich looked amazing and he really enjoyed it. We both agreed that the grilled onions were absolutely made to perfection and the sweet potato fries some of the best we ever had, especially not soggy or greasy. The kitchen knows what they are doing. They have a very interesting and enticing drink menu and had it been dinner I probably would have tried a couple. I was sold on this place, thanked my friends and want to to go back for dinner!

We had a meatloaf, chicken parmigiana, chicken Marsala and a salmon Marsala. Chicken parm was very bland. Meatloaf was overcooked and chicken Marsala was just ok.
