I have been bringing my Chocolate Lab, Lucy for nine years. I worked in Manhattan Beach and it was convenient to drop her off for daycare and overnight boarding for trips. We moved a few years ago and still board her for trips out of LAX or extended travel. (We live 60 miles away). I'm amazed that several staff members who worked there when she was a pup are still there! I don't understand why there are "any" negative reviews. The staff has been exceptional and caring. I trust them explicitly. When I call to check in on my Lucy, they're always happy to give me an update. Peace of mind knowing there is a 24 hour presence is comforting. Thank you Grateful Dogs .

I've been taking local South Bay neighbors pets here for 10, and my own dog for almost 8. The staff has been fine, but today I had the displeasure of meeting the OWNER Debby because i was signed up for their vaccine clinic. Upon arrival at grateful dogs the man at the front parking lot told me to pull into a spot # & wait for somebody to come to my car, after 15 min of waiting & watching everyone around me being helped i finally got out of my car & said something to the staff like "hey i've been waiting in my car & noticed everyone around me is getting helped? i had a 3 o'clock apt (its 3:10) am i doing something wrong?" DEBBYS first words to me are "i've been standing on my feet all day" and continues to be rude and condescending to me while complain that she has been working all day long... DURRING all this a nurse comes up to me and starts explaining the correct instructions/ handing me the forms to fill out i asked her who that woman was (IVE NEVER SEEN HER) & was told shewastheowner The shots are administered in the car with your dog, you're supposed to fill the paperwork out leave it at the table and sit in your car. So I'm sitting in my car and the nurse is on the opposite side giving my dog a shot and apologies for Debbys behavior stating, "I only work at night I never work with her during the day" - leading me to believe Debbys not pleasant to work with regardless. THEN, s I was leaving (LISTERALLZY BACKING OUT OF MY SPOT - in my video you can hear my car rear beeping go off) she decided to approach my vehicle and tell me more how I was rude to her, continuing to justifying her behavior. i had my phone recording her this time and she hits me with the classic gaslight "i'm sorry you feel that way". I absolutely refuse to support people who treat others like shit. On the plus side, the Down Dog Lounge in El Segundo (was also at this doggy vaccine event) now has a new client. Below is a lovely screen grab from the video I have of her gaslighting me.

I have been using Grateful Dogs for 14 years, and they are great. When my work required me to travel weekly and I was single, they took great care of my Bonham every week. I never had a moments worry she was being cared for and was happy. My second dog Lucky has been going for seven years and he still gets excited when he knows we are going. I just had to say goodbye to Bonham last week due to cancer. Debbie and the rest of the team were so great with her, and helped me through the process of deciding on whether or not to put a 14 year old dog through treatments. They all hugged me after my decision to say goodbye. They are loving people.

Grateful Dogs taught our dog how to play with the tennis ball.

We are so caring about dogs. They really took good care of Rocky. They have a very thorough process to ensure that from baby gets adjusted.

My Baby Max loves this place. He stands up on the back seat when we enter the parking lot ready to go in and play.

Let's be real, she's a young dog in a brand new environment surrounded by unfamiliar dogs. Of course she's going to be excited. That's exactly why people come in for these evaluations in the first place. If your facility isn't equipped to handle high energy or young dogs, that should be clearly stated upfront on your website. Instead, I paid $40 for what felt like a pre judged, rushed dismissal with zero effort to actually assess or work with her to get comfortable. What was more disappointing was the lack of care or professionalism. No one asked about her behavior history - other than does she not play well with dogs, supervisor didn't use her name, and she was immediately taken to the back with a slip lead and returned minutes later with a blanket judgment. There was no constructive feedback, no suggestions for training, and no guidance on how we could improve and come back. For context, she regularly goes to dog parks and plays off leash without any issues. Overall, the experience felt unwelcoming and transactional rather than thoughtful or supportive. Just a heads up for other dog owners, you may not get a fair evaluation or any refund if your dog doesn't fit their expectations. Which should be free, then if they pass you pay.

From the very beginning, the entire process was easy, professional, and reassuring. Barbie, the owner, was incredibly responsive and took the time to answer all of our questions. We asked for her honest opinion about whether 15-minute or 30-minute visits would be more appropriate for Harper, and we really appreciated that she gave us thoughtful, unbiased advice based on his needs rather than simply recommending the longer visit. That honesty gave us a great deal of confidence that Harper's well-being was always the priority. Our sitter, Lindsay, was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, caring, and clearly took the time to get to know Harper rather than simply stopping by to complete a checklist. The updates after each visit were one of our favorite parts of the service. We received thoughtful notes and videos by text after every visit. We especially appreciated that everything came through text rather than requiring a separate app. The communication was outstanding and gave us tremendous peace of mind while we were away. We genuinely looked forward to Lindsay's notes and videos after each visit. Her thoughtful updates let us follow Harper's progress throughout our trip, and it was wonderful to see him become more and more comfortable with her. When she told us he had even let her pick him up, we knew just how much trust he had developed. When we arrived home, Harper was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. Lindsay even left us a thoughtful handwritten note and drawing, which was such a sweet personal touch. We couldn't have asked for a better first experience with a professional pet sitter. We will absolutely use this service again and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy, compassionate in-home pet care.

Unfortunately, this place was a HUGE disappointment and had a huge negative impact on our pup. Long story short -- Everything here is a sales grab. The few girls care for the animals but the "managers" and men there are just there for the commission of your packages. I had a whole conversation about their unethical sales pitching with the employee while picking up my dog lol. It's "how they keep the place open" - the employee's words, not mine. Astounding. Said employee also asked what I did for a living because I questioned their sales pitch tactics -- I'm in sales. Also, If you need their VIP services for your unspayed or neutered pup, please spend your money elsewhere!! Before committing to a membership, we did a trial day and spent hundreds on drop in days, grooming, and overnight boarding to see if it was a good fit for our high energy pup. Our dog is not neutered and we don't plan on getting him neutered so we chose their VIP rooms. His breed is also extremely high energy and they promised they could accommodate. I also inquired about training multiple times and they kept saying the trainer would contact me. Everything went great after those few visits, they seemed caring and said he was a great fit for a membership so we end up signing up. Then everything went downhill. Upon the first day of the membership, our dog all of a sudden had behavior issues and needed to be picked up. In the middle of my work day I call the shift manager, and he states that if we want our dog to stay, he needs training ... (from their same trainer that I've inquired 3x about before committing to a membership, still haven't heard back). I asked why this wasn't communicated ever before committing to a membership and they didn't have an answer. I informed them that I would've paid for training before committing to a membership if they would've let me know that there were any issues. Our dog went a couple of more times until they could finally get me in touch with the trainer, 6 visits later. Actually I had lost complete trust at this facility. To add insult to injury, I was able to speak to one of their actual workers that is with the dogs and she let me know that our dog is only let out for about 10 minutes at a time, maybe 3 to 4 times a day during a 12 hour stay. This is their VIP option. So not only is he left in a room for about 12 hours a day, with dogs barking all around him, he's not being stimulated nor played with just being let out to go to the bathroom. Contradicting everything they say that they offer. Their "trainer" is also a joke. He is supposed to be from the Marines and well-versed in the breed of dog that we have. Upon washing him for 5 minutes, as I was told, he said that our dog needed to be neutered before he could be trained because of his energy. Our dog is a Malinois and is not supposed to be neutered before 2 years of age. We've since went elsewhere to get our dog trained from someone who is actually educated on his breed and he's worked on all of his anxiety and reactivity issues that our pup got because of this place.

Contract Discrepancies/Sitters Lament on Working with Them…read more I thought I would enjoy this experience sitting with Meowtel. I had a client contact me for a booking of many days with a start date between 24 hours of the booking. According to Meowtels cancellation contract "Cancelation within 24 hours of the start date": No refund will be issued for cancelations within 24 hours of the start date. The sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings. We appreciate your respect for your sitter's time" Well unfortunately for me, they did not honor this at all, as the client just decided to stop communicating with Meowtel after booking and putting their credit card on file. Apparently contracts mean nothing to this company. They also take 30% of my fees, and I do a free "meet and greet" which I dont get paid for. They offer no ACH banking and you are forced to get your money through Paypal. In the end, some of the clients I have worked with are very nice, but the organziation really screwed me in the end. In response to Meowtels comment, here are the refund contracts spelled out here. "Cancelation between 24-48 hours before the start date*: Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will receive 50% of their planned earnings. Cancelation within 24 hours of the start date*: No refund will be issued for cancelations within 24 hours of the start date. The sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings. They sided with the customer and deactivated my account. Yeah, sorry for being ill and being hospitalized. You should have more empathy for your sitters. My sitter listing is called Feline Haven and I had wonderful reviews yet I was still deactivated. I was cat sitting for more than a year with Meowtel and had always felt supported by the team, but I'm really disappointed in them. Before I was hospitalized, I knew I was sick and could possibly be hospitalized so I arranged for another sitter to take over the reservation and even was going to drop off the keys to her. However, it was an EMERGENCY when it finally happened and I could do nothing. Sitters, don't get sick or have life problems if you don't want to be chased off by Meowtel. I sent emails and texts informing meowtel and providing proof that I was hospitalized as well, but apparently there's no sympathy for ill folks. Edit: Meowtel, please reach out to me and tell me what account violation there was as I was not previously informed what was violated. Thanks. I was only told about "issues" surrounding the reservations, but not explicitly told what they were. See emails attached. What findings were there? I truly doubt this company is that cold hearted and I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure here, so please do let me know. I do want to keep my support of this company but I cannot do so if I'm deactivated vaguely. I wish I didn't have to post this, but I am extremely heartbroken and disheartened.
