I strongly recommend the "Miami"-flavor, which is a darker version Nutella and it was so yummy (and heavy). The gelateria has a entrance from the beach, so if you are inside the beach area you don't have to go out to get a gelato. They also had beautiful looking fresh fruit cocktails, but we where to excited about the gelato.

Venchi began as a small chocolatier founded in Turin in 1878 by Silviano Venchi using premium Piedmont hazelnuts and dark chocolate. They are known for their chocolates first and then gelatos. The employees were kind and provided great service/recommendations. The lady taking the order mentioned that if I signed up for their app I get a free chocolate. I like chocolate ok, but the hubby LOVES chocolate, let alone for free. I'm glad to get a little bit of Italian goodies prior to saying bye to Rome, definitely a great spot for gelato and chocolate as an arrivederci. Yes it's airport price, but I won't get this in the US so I don't mind spending a little more. Grazie mille Venchi!

But, most of the cup was whipped cream that did not even have a drizzle of syrup on top, which was a very cheap way of making the drink :/ the staff seemed pretentious. maybe because I am not from the area and it is my first time being here, but have some grace please when I ask about flavors and size discrepancies :( I was so excited to try to this place, but the staffing threw it off for me because usually they are welcoming as a spot like this is anyone's happy place! but omg... the store was so beautiful with the bright-colored wrappers and the sweet smell of chocolate. The store just looked so expensive with the golden cursive as the backdrop for the cashier register area...and then the dripping chocolate fountain was unlike any sweets store that I have seen! chocolates were expensive, but expected. I do wish that they did samples here before committing to buy one because the price per piece was not a small throwaway.

There were many people out in the square eating their gelato. It was a good sign. I love the interior and presentation of the RivaReno brand. I believe the shop was recently renovated because previous pictures don't tell the whole story. It originated from the city of Bologna, and named after the Reno River shores that is iconic to that area. I didn't realize it at the time, but they have expanded to locations in the states such as Miami. Their signature & classic flavors are very unique. Maybe not to the locals, but very much to a tourist like me. The service was very pleasant, patient & sweet. The menu was colorful & descriptive so it was easy to understand (even in Italian). I decided to get some of their bolder flavors while hubby went with the basic ones. I loved their classic flavor of Zabaglione. I could really taste the Marsala Vergine Soleras wine. It was exactly what I was looking for in terms of boldness. The other 2 flavors were equally as good. The Leonardo with the flavor of pine nuts and the Morena with bitter cherries and Fior di Panna were both creamy & satisfying. My husband appeared to like the chocolate and mango gelato the most. He wasn't a fan of the banana which tasted artificial to him. I didn't taste any of his gelato flavors. There are a few tables inside, but most people were taking their gelato out into the square. It was a beautiful & cool day to enjoy it. I would go back for these flavors again. I can only hope that the locations in the USA are the same quality. Their expansion to other countries appears to be going well. The reviews in other locations look great. Especially in Miami, Palma de Mallorca, and Sydney, Australia. Here's hoping that they open a location in Tampa one day. It's that delicious!

Sure enough, it was a Gelateria. We went into the tiny shop, barely enough room for a few customers, and got a tasting each of a couple of flavors. I settled on my go to flavors of lemon and banana, which in account of them bring fruit, all gelaterias have as sorbets. My husband got his two usuals, pistachio and caramel, both gelatos. While I wouldn't write home about either the quality of the sorbets or about the customer service, both aspects are solid, and I have nothing to complain about. The prices are competitive with everyone else in the area. We got our gelato sand took it across the square, teeming with life and people, sat in the church steps in the shade--a welcome respite and our own little makeshift impromptu siesta:-)
