They had a good and interesting selection of gelato (a lot were very much written in Italian which meant it was super authentic). I had a scoop of the Croccante Di Amarena. It was delicious. As far as gelato goes, Cremilla is as good as anything you'll find. The dark chocolate is decadent and adds a great richness to any cup or cone. The strachitella has a good ratio of vanilla to chocolate shavings. Prices are reasonable and servings are generous. The downside is the pastry options - especially the brownie. They're dry, flakey, and pretty bad. So stick to the gelato and avoid any baked goods. The inside is chic and inviting making it a great interior to escape the Roman heat in summer. This is hands down the best gelato that we had during our stay in Italy. Believe me when I say that we tried many different places in search for the best gelato lucky for us the best happened to be mere minutes away from our hotel. Some of our favorite combinations were the pistachio/crunchy sour cherry and the pistachio/hazelnut/meliga biscuit. When I tell you that everything thing we tried was delicious I mean it, and our favorite gelato combinations were definitely a 100/5. The staff were also friendly as well and were very helpful since we spoke little to no Italian. To be honest I'm surprised that they never had a line out the door, especially since they make their gelatos fresh in their back kitchen area which you can look into. However, we'll definitely be back for more tantalizing treats when we come back to Italy. read more

I found my way to Gelateria Cremilla while waiting for an Uber after exploring Vatican City with a friend. We walked a bit to get away from some of the traffic... and there was Cremilla. The white interior called to me. Or maybe that was the promise of gelato. Either way, I went inside and confirmed they had vegan gelato and promptly ordered some. I chose the vegan dark chocolate and a vegan mixed berry flavor. Both were good! The dark chocolate was rich -- as it should be -- and the berry provided a nice contrast and sweetness. The price point was pretty on par with other gelaterias in Italy that I've visited, too. I liked that Cremilla had many flavors to choose from -- and several were vegan so there were actual options for my dairy free self! I also like that they serve crepes, even if I can't eat them. A 2.50 E "small cone" gets you white or milk chocolate poured in the tip, up to two flavors heaped on, and whipped cream on top. The strawberry was the best strawberry anything I've ever had anywhere. The dark chocolate was perfect, and the flavors with Italian names were amazing. The place looks like a bank, is huge, quick service, sit-in room, allows pets, and they wear lovely chef hats. The room where they make their gelato and other goodies is viewable through big glass windows.
