I've always been about taking care of me until I didn't. Being my moms caregiver was extremely hard. She passed on July 9, 2025. Prior to that I had my own health issues and always tried to make my appointment but ended up canceling, missing or rescheduling because of my mom. My doctor for some years left and I ended up with a male doctor who I seen once maybe twice and then I get a letter saying I was basically fired and had to find not a new doctor but go to a whole new Ohio Health for care because I missed and canceled to many appointments. Between my health, my moms emergency calls every other day which was 1 hour away, I had to be there for her. Ohio Health Pickerington never asked about me and what I was going through. My original doctor would and even call to check up on me but she left and I had no notice. So the new team didn't know me and instead kicked me out. I'm still with Ohio Health but a different location. I'll soon be able to have my medications renewed. Its been 2 weeks and they gave me a month but during that time my mom passed and I just didn't remember the deadline to make other arrangements for a new doctor and location. I write this because I had no where else to express how hurt I was to be going through dealing with my mom and then being let go from a whole primary care program. This hurts more then my mom passing. Prior to seeing him, my previous doctor put me through a series of preventive procedures that only delayed the inevitable. I appreciate what they tried to do, but I went through years of discomfort that, I felt, could and should have been avoided. After my doctor moved to a different medical group, I saw Dr. D'onofrio at my family doctor's recommendation. This man is awesome! I had researched his record and he is well-respected amidst his peers and among his former patients. Prior to the procedure, he even had me attend an education (and supportive session) with other knee and hip replacement patients, which made me feel more at ease. During our conversation(s) he promised me that he would have me on my feet, the same day as the surgery! He wasn't lying. I was up and around and beginning my new life (as "RoboPop", as my kids call me) in no time. I was out of the hospital in no time, too. My follow-up visits between him and his assistant, Kevin were all great with exceptional customer service and even better recuperative treatment. Today, I had to go back for my consult for the other knee replacement, which we originally decided to delay. It was great to see him again and a comfort to know that he remembered my case very well. Unfortunately, I have to take some weight off before the next procedure, but my reservations are gone and I'm ready to get myself back to a state where I can exercise and live comfortably. He was so impressed by the treatment I received from Dr. Batten that he would go to no one else for treatment. He felt safe in Dr. Batten's care and he came through his kidney stone experience (including stent placement, lithotripsy, and stent removal) with flying colors. I had been receiving less than satisfactory treatment with physicians in Columbus (no name-dropping here) and needed someone who could meet my needs and be straight-forward with me. After meeting Dr. D'Onofrio, he took one look at my medical history and recent tests and simply asked, "When do you want to get this done?" That was it. No more cortisone shots or minor surgeries. He told me that my knee was beyond preventive treatment and needed replacement. True, one would think that a salesman's only interest is "selling the car", but after breaking down everything that was wrong with my knee, he convinced me that I was prolonging the inevitable with all of these procedures. The surgery went extremely well, as well as the follow-up with his PA, Kevin, who is truly awesome. The care I received during my recovery made my trip to wellness a short and efficient one. I loved their treatment so much that I chose them for my other knee replacement surgery 3 years later, which went just as well.
