Drove 11 Hours for a Showing--Was Accused of Attempted Murder by the Leasing Agent Instead!…read moreI traveled over five hours from New York to view an apartment at Charlesmont, only to be met with what can only be described as the most unprofessional and hostile leasing experience I've ever encountered. To provide context: I had a 1pm appointment, but called ahead to let them know I was running late due to traffic. I spoke with the leasing agent, Aniyah, and informed her that I would arrive before her 2pm appointment. Despite having 30 minutes until my updated arrival time, she insisted I reschedule. I explained that I had been driving since 7am and had already traveled a significant distance, and politely asked if there was any flexibility--perhaps a later opening--since I was willing to wait. I arrived at 1:38pm, before the 2pm appointment. When I got to the office, the door was locked despite an "Open" sign. Aniyah answered, stared at me blankly, and when I reiterated my situation, she curtly told me she was about to take her lunch and I'd have to wait 30 minutes. I agreed and waited in the parking lot. At 2pm, another couple arrived for their scheduled tour. They also found the door locked and couldn't reach anyone by phone. We all waited together until 2:22pm, when they finally got through to Aniyah and she unlocked the door for them. I followed them in and respectfully asked once more if she might have any availability later in the day. Her response, delivered in front of the other prospective tenants, was rude and dismissive: "I already told you I don't have any more appointments." I simply asked for clarification on unit availability and whether they included washer and dryer. She gestured irritably and told me to check the website. I thanked her (politely, despite the treatment, because I WAS late for my appointment) and left. As I was sitting in my car adjusting my GPS for the long drive home, I began to reverse out of my spot. I saw Aniyah walking behind my car toward hers, so I stopped and waited until she was safely inside her vehicle before continuing to back out. That's when she suddenly screamed, "You just tried to hit me with your fucking car!" Confused, I rolled down my window to ask what she was talking about. She repeated the accusation. I explained that I had stopped to let her pass. She wasn't interested in reason. I rolled my eyes, rolled up my window, and left--but not before hearing her ask the other couple if they had witnessed me "trying to hit her." They looked just as bewildered as I felt. Two hours later, I received a text from her asking if I'd like to reschedule. To be clear: I will not be rescheduling. I no longer feel safe giving my personal information to someone so unhinged. It's deeply disappointing because Charlesmont initially checked every box for what I was looking for in a home. But after this experience--being accused of a violent act simply for existing in a parking lot--I wouldn't feel safe living somewhere represented by someone this unstable. Management needs to reevaluate who they put in front of potential residents. This level of hostility is unacceptable, and I hope others think twice before making the same trip I did.

They have allowed items such as money and jewelry to go missing and when the management office was notified why swept it under the rug. You would think that paying $2100 a month for rent and an additional fee for secure parking that my vehicle wouldn't have been broken into twice. And get this, amazingly the only cars that were broken into were those parked out of view of the security cameras, which kind you only the management office has access to. To add insult to injury, the new young lady in the office failed to report the incident to upper management on both occasions, failed to provide me with what the policy is on what needs to occur such as an incident report, reporting to my auto or renters insurance. She also failed to notify or make note that I would NOT be renewing my lease and they attempted to lock me into another 15 months lease. I feel so unsafe, the feeling of maybe pulling into the secure garage and be robbed or raped or even assaulted. Due to managements inability to keep their good paying residents safe and secure. Your hime is where you should feel safe and I do not. They haven't even notified the other residents in the building that there have been cars broken into and windows busted. Please look elsewhere for comfortable living.. because this is not it.
