Getting seeds can be VERY hit or miss. We got quite a selection of seeds, and the tomatoes in particular sprouted quickly. My two year old did this one herself, put the soil in, the seed in, and some more soil on top. She was happy to see her "baby" had sprouted today! Not much effort was put into starting this seed, given she's two, so I was honestly surprised by its viability lol. I definitely recommend getting seeds from here :) the staff was also very nice, and the prices on the starts and seeds were fair for the quality. read more

Super bummer about the review I'm writing here. We shop at this place for all sorts of gardening supplies, and our Christmas trees. My wife and son were meeting her parents at Beer Garden, and that side of the parking lot was full as always. She parked in one of the empty Grays spots (most of their side was completely empty) to unload our four year old so she could go park somewhere else. Before she was able to move the car, an angry male employee came out and started yelling at her about it. This isn't a place we choose to support anymore, and I'll make sure to tell our friends these people aren't welcoming to their customers. I'd never looked at their yelp profile before, and had no idea how many other issues people have had with them. Do better Grays, get a handle on your attack dogs. We need to feel safe at the businesses we frequent. *Edit* - to add information for other customers After my wife got home, she called the store to complain to the manager, and the person she talked to said they were the owner. They backed up the employee, and didn't make any attempt to apologize or smooth things over. They said they witnessed the exchange and saw nothing wrong with it. I can't believe I'm having to write this one star review for what appears to be a lovely, local/independently owned business, but from now on, I will be reading reviews on YELP on all local businesses from now on BEFORE shopping with them. The way I was treated by a young male salesman (with what appeared to be a female manager behind the counter aware of the encounter doing NOTHING) when trying to return two unopened unused bags of fertilizer was unconscionable! On May 23, 2025 I bought two bags of fertilizer for some flowering plants and shrubs in our yard. They weren't exactly what I needed ( I was looking for 10/10/10 but all they had was 20/20/20) but I bought the two products (see images) and paid cash and went home. Three weeks have gone by and I've been unable to cope w/ the grass seed pollen to do garden work. My husband found someone to come and do some yard work. They had some products and took care of the fertilizing of our flora/fauna. Today, I went in to return the unopened bags. The male salesman was unsure of what to do and asked the female co-worker at the other register handling some other register work about the return process. She tells him (and me) that for non-live product return that a full refund within 7 days and before 30 days a store credit. WHAT? What kind of policy is that? Fertilizer is in a bag and not expired and can be put on the shelf and sold and not be expired. This kind of crazy policy is what I expect from a low-cost crappy franchise. I've never been offered store credit for a return within 30 days. That's crazy. I was asking why the policy was that way and the male cashier was getting angry with me. I was speaking in a normal voice and asking thoughtful questions. He said I shouldn't give him a hard time and to lower my voice and not be so angry. Gaslighting doesn't work on me. He was condescending and downright rude. In a normal tone I said, "I've owned two businesses and never treated my customers w/ such disrespect." My option was take store credit for a return or keep the product. I'm never stepping foot in this store again. As I left with my store items I said, "It's good to know I can count on Lowe's and Home Depot to honor a return if need-be. I'll never come back here again." I wanted to buy to graphed moon cactus, I specifically got an employee to come grab them and give me a price because Ofcourse nothing is marked they said $5 which is what they cost everywhere, I said ok he rang them up then a old guy who works there came up and said no $11 each and wouldn't honor what they just rang up. that's over twice as much as elsewhere so I left, I've overpaid for many items over the years spent a lot of money this was the final straw, I'll never buy from then again! FYI they buy from local plant growers you can get from most of the sellers at cost at local farmers markets or FB marketplace I paid $40 for a plant they left the tag from the seller in the pot I found him at the local farmers market selling the save item 1/4 price!! I parked in their EMPTY parking lot for less than 20 minutes to pick up food I ordered at Beergarden, I went back to my car it was already towed. There was another car being towed when I went outside to look for mine. I asked the company that towed my car and they said that Greys towed 6 cars that same day. But this time they were outright rude to my 78 year old mother who spent $50 on a hanging outdoor plant 2 weeks prior. A small gesture on their part would gone such a long way. I have read the countless bad reviews due to parking issues and wanted to grab a beer... from next door. There was plenty of signage alerting me to the parking being for Gray's Garden center ONLY. That was fine with me. I had called Gray's the night prior asking for info for food for our new Orchid (Maxillaria tenuifolia) which while blooming smells like Coconut pie/Pina Colada. They said they carried an orchid specific food and that it would be up front at the cash register after I said I would be by in the early morning. While getting ready to check out, I saw some laminated bird identifying fold-outs so I picked 2 of those up as well. The hummingbird action in our backyard is borderline a 4-lane highway with lots of traffic. I had a great business dealing with all Gray's employees while I walked around and will go back for any plant needs. read more

BEWARE!!!! I have shopped at Grays for years. Spent thousands of dollars over the years. I recently purchased hundreds of dollars in succulents. They had mealy bugs and spider mites. I was told by the owner that they individually check "Everything " that comes in. I viewed a plant heavily covered in aphids at their store. Interesting if they check everything!! Went to Grey's today. Purchased two fruit trees, lots of soil, and some herbs. Decided to walk next door for a beer before going home to plant. Was 20 minutes before the store closed. After we had loaded truck and started to walk away, an employee, seemingly management, said 'you can't park there. He'll have you towed.' we literally had hundreds of dollars of purchases from Grey's in the truck but were rudely told that the moment we walked out of the store with them that we were 'no longer customers.' After shopping for about 15 or so minutes we decide to leave and felt like ordering some food to go from the beer garden. Little did we know the second we stepped off their property our car was going to be towed. We felt like it would be okay to grab our food real quick being that Grays was closing in 15 minutes anyways. After being in the beer garden for no longer than 20 minutes we return to our car missing??? After finally getting ahold of the tow truck company we learn that we will have to pay $400 plus a $45 Uber just to get our vehicle back. The company had our car in their possession for less than 30 minutes.. $400 is an absolute scam. Greys claims they love their community yet how are they scamming us out of half our months rent. The employees would rather stare at the parking lot hoping to catch someone parking there that goes into the building next door to tow them than to help anyone at all. I am beyond disappointed and appalled at Gray's garden center. Customer service whether in person or over the phone is all in the same. After moving out of state and missing EVERY holiday with my Mom, I always depended on Gray's to help me with custom shopping from afar. For seven years my mom was joyful and in great spirits knowing I had a hand in picking out her gifts with their sales representatives. This year my order was dismissed to an online gift card and I was told my mom would be more pleased picking out her own plants. YOU DO NOT KNOW MY MOM BETTER THAN ME!!!! A gift card reveals the amount you're spending on a gift and forces my mom to buy and shop for her own gift - a trait that many moms don't enjoy doing. Beyond the impersonal gesture for such a meaningful person in my life, Grays is forcing you to select a gift card above the value of your purchase rather than the exact total of the gift. That puts my mom in a terrible situation of what to do with the extra. Shame on you Grays!!! You were once a business prided on the local community and you did not serve this customer or her local mom one bit!! read more

This place is a one stop shop for plants. If you need something odd, most likely they will have it. It is a bit out of the area if you live in Eugene or Springfield, because you have to go to Coburg. Although this place is higher priced than other around, their product is good and the staff is knowledgeable and can help with most plant related questions you may have. Went to Beer Garden on a Friday evening to grab some food. BG's parking lot was full, this shop's lot was empty, as you can imagine for a Friday evening). Those who are locals know what the lot arrangement looks like...need I say less. 30 minutes or so into my meal, I looked up to see my car being towed away. I'm just a college student trying to have a decent, relaxing meal after a week of working hard in school. Given the circumstances of this year, money is especially tight and times are lonely. Based on how they treated me today, I'm tempted to give one star. But, overall, that wouldn't be fair. I took back a deer resistant plant that the deer had devoured last night. My complaint isn't about the plant; it's about how snotty the employees were--both the young guy at the counter and the young manager that he called over. They lectured me that "deer can't read" and that the deer resistant notice has an asterisk (it doesn't). Now, I'm not an idiot, although that's how they treated me. I know that a "water resistant" label on a jacket doesn't mean "water proof". And I know that "deer resistant" doesn't mean "deer proof". "Deer can't read" is obviously something that they had memorized and have to say pretty often, since both the counter boy and the manager came up separately with the same lecture, word for word. Had they said it with a smile instead of condescendingly teaching me that deer can't read, I would have said OK and just bought the other plants that I had come in for. Had they not been so rude they'd still have a customer. (I've just bought a house in Eugene and have a lot of landscaping to do and, next spring, vegetables and herbs to plant. But, there are other nurseries in Eugene. Maybe less convenient. (Gray's is right next door to Beer Garden, so it's like one-stop shopping. This was the least pleasant shopping experience I have ever had. Honestly, beyond the one terrible employee (potentially the owner?) the employees were pleasant. The store was minimally stocked but I was trying to spend a little money on some house plants and pots. I had a good time shopping while my husband picked up our food to go next door. We were looking forward to going home and planting our new plants and eating some food. However, my husband forgot his wallet so I needed to go into the Beer Garden to give him my card. I had put my new plants in the car and was waiting for him to come out, when I got his message. This pathetic employee had followed me to my car and was standing outside of it, seemingly spying that I left his precious parking lot. He cornered me between my car and another car and started screaming that I was no longer a customer of his business so I needed to move my car. I was scared and feeling attacked. So I moved my car. I'm not interested in messing with someone who is aggressive. However, my husband brought the food out to the car a second later to find me in a new parking spot and crying, with a pissy garden employee glaring at me. He decided our money was better spent elsewhere. He went in to return the plants. This horrid human must be so sad in his life. He continued to yell at my husband about me being a "bitchy woman" and that he "wasn't doing anything to make her (me) act like a crybaby". How dare he make fun of a customer. I had not even been out of his store 10 minutes when he threatened to tow my car. He was arguing that as soon as I left the store I needed to move my car.
