Had I known how difficult State Farm is when it comes time to actually pay a claim, I would have stayed with Allstate. I was involved in a serious accident while walking through a grocery store crosswalk with my three-year-old twin boys sitting in a shopping cart. I was not in my vehicle. I am fully insured and reasonably expected State Farm to help cover my injuries and medical expenses. I required surgeries, physical therapy, and continued care. State Farm denied my claim, stating that because I carried uninsured motorist coverage rather than underinsured motorist coverage, they were not obligated to pay. As a result, nothing was covered. I pay $285 every month in premiums, as required by law, yet when I needed help the most, I received none. I do not feel protected or supported as a customer. Insurance is meant to provide peace of mind, and in this situation, State Farm did not deliver that. This experience has been extremely disappointing and stressful, especially given the circumstances involving my young children. I wish I had researched more before switching. If you're considering State Farm, I strongly recommend reviewing the fine print and understanding exactly what is and isn't covered before signing up.
