Maintenance is poor and they allow broken things like art to be kept in the room. Parking came at a cost and was hard to come by most days. There is a pedestrian bridge if you are in really good shape to walk to downtown but it would be about a mile and a half. A local told me no homeless are allowed at the waterfront so that's cool. Or 2 couples. The loft features a king bed and its own bathroom complete with a shower. The main level features a nice simple kitchen with full size refrigerator, dishwasher and 2 burner electric cook top. The living space is comfy with an oversized couch two comfortable chairs and a perfectly sized dining noon table with room for four. There is also a queen size bed and a full bathroom also with shower. The views are spectacular over looking the Saratoga passage while off in the distance lurk the Cascade mountains. We were so lucky to have experienced both moon and sun rises each day during our stay!! The frolicking seals, numerous water foul and two crotchety herons welcomed us with all their natural glory!! The check in process was easy and couldn't have been more convenient!! We arrived late and entered our room with our issue. We were greeted with some delicious treats, cookies, gummies, trail mix and pop corners!! Such a lovely welcome surprise. There were fresh cut flowers and plenty of warm blankets to enjoy a lovely evening or morning sit in the nicely decorated deck outside. Couple of hot tips for those with an EV. Be sure to have the "Blink" app on your phone as there are 2 charges within walking distance through town. We waited till around 11:00pm when the chargers were vacant. We parked and charged the car as we slept. Grabbing the car around 5:30am when the charge ended. 7.6kw charges. Not fast but in this scenario worked very well for us. $17.00 bucks and the tank was full for another day of island exploration!!

Desk staff was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was adequate, though the only hot food was oatmeal. Cookies out all day in the office was a nice touch. TV with local channels was wonderful. Bed was very comfortable. But... Little refrigerator was very noisy and woke us up more than once when trying to sleep. There was a step up to the bathroom which sometimes became annoying...especially for us "old people" in our 70's. We don't need accommodation, but a level floor throughout would be nice. There were times when the guests above us sounded like they were going to fall through the ceiling (one of the downsides to staying on the first floor, I guess). Bathroom had a step-in tub and shower, while a level shower only would be preferred. And most important to mention, $300+ dollars a night was unbelievably expensive for this quaint, but rather dated inn; that's the most we've ever paid for lodging...even in some big cities! And I saw lower prices for rooms in the same inn after we returned home. We enjoyed our visit to LaConner, but sadly, we'll never return.

Glad they were there to greet us when we arrived ahead of schedule and give us guidance about where to go until our room was ready. Our room was very comfortable. Nice cozy bed and great bath towels; a very important detial that is often that's overlooked. The inside common areas of the inn were very nice. Well-appointed community kitchen. We had a king room with a large deck. The view from our deck across the Saratoga Passage included unostructed views of Whidbey Ialand. When the sky was clear, the view included an incredible sunset, crescent moon, and the comings and goings of bats which we just loved. The inn is centrally located to nearby parks and access to the island's amazing food offerings including Cama Beach Cafe, Blue Heron, Vivo, The Baked Cafe (recommended by Charlene), and more. Nearby, we also enjoyed a wonderful tour of Matzke Gallery and Sculpture Garden, and shared time with the owner, Karla Matzke. If you prefer, you can prepare meals in the kitchen. Understand, this is more like an AirB&B. You will be provided with a numeric key for the front door and your room. Staff is available on a somewhat limited basis. Coffee is provided in the lobby, but you may need to make more as needed. The reason I have left this as a four-star review is that there were a few issues with the property. I reached out the manager and she "promised" these matters would be addressed. It's unlikely we'll get back there anytime soon and hope she will keep her word. Yes, it is the little things!

When I first arrived it was like a ghost town, there was no other car anywhere around . When First arriving I looked around the grounds and overall it looked pretty but was not kept up at all, tons of potential for the gardens and I could easily have those grounds looking amazing in a matter of a couple of days and very little cost. Now its time to go inside, the front door entrance is manned by a digital smart lock to get in. There are no employees inside either, empty desk sitting by the door thats small, over to the left a small coffee pot and a water kettle and then a room with what looks like for the Bistro that also has apparently been closed for a long time and breakfast was something mentioned. The inside is very pretty but very dated. A friend of mine found some history about the place they also do not like to add to their site and they should since some would love it. Apparently the place is supposed to be haunted, a long time ago it says it was a nursing home and other things. I joked that my room or my toothbrush was haunted the first night but thats a story for another time. Going past the office area there is what looks like once was a bar for people to come and have a drink and hangout, it just had bottles of water on the bar. To the right there is a room with a couch, some chairs and a fireplace I did not see turned on once or a way to turn it on easily. Got to my room next which was number 2 and straight in from the front entrance pretty much. The rooms are also on a smart lock and they text you these codes way ahead of time, I sure hope they randomize them too after stays. I go into the room and its smaller than I was expecting but thats fine, to the left we have a closet with a couple of the roughest robes I ever decided to try on, they feel like a cheap towell and same type of material. The bathroom is right after that closet and the bathroom is not too horrible but also a bit dated, they could not even match the light bulbs. The shower looked like it could use a good cleaning including the showerhead with a lot of scale buildup. The mirror had chips in it and sharp edges being a bit unsafe for those not paying attention. Now into the room itself, there was an antique style dresser that was not antique, you can see the wood warping on the top from moisture as well. On that there is one of the smallest tv's ever with old resolution. The bed was not the most comfortable nor the bedding itself. On the patio is a hot tub thats a bit smaller than I expected it to be. The hedges are way overgrown and also limit some of the view, I seen from old comments this has been an issue for a while they fail to address. The fixtures have old style dim bulbs in them.The room had no fridge, no microwave, no coffee pot etc. You have to go out to the office area and brew a pot yourself since they also do not brew any coffee for the guest it appears in the mornings either, still no employees found during the morning hours. The curtains for the sliding door were falling apart and you could not easily close them nor have full privacy. The sliding door does not even lock, they have a piece of flimsy wood for it. The 2nd night there were complaints of rooms out of power, found the father of the owner showing up at the same time and was asking me if I had power. The internet was also down the entire time while cell phone coverage being extremely limited so I had to drive to town just to be able to load anything and I had a lot to get done. I will say this hotel is a waste of money, this is one hotel or inn I will not return to, even budget motels offer more. Looking at some of the reviews here and I see some of these issues has been around for more than a couple of years and the owners have not addressed a single one of them. How they remain in business is beyond me, maybe due to the travel sites still listing it as more.

They have coffee tea and water available 24/7. Breakfast is from 8-10 and you sit and they serve it. Veggie breakfast was delicious. The rooms are super cozy. They even gave us two different pillow sizes, one more dense and more flat. Very very considerate. Close to the shops of Langley - literally a 1 minute walk. Overall amazing experience. We were told that it would be done the next day since housekeeping had gone for the day. The next day when we returned to the hotel, the floor was still sticky. We reported it again and were told that it would be reported to the manager and they would get back to us. The Ugly: We never heard back from management. We put our service request tag out and not only did the bathroom not get mopped again, but we also did not receive any clean towels or other cleanup. So, we arrived to a sticky bathroom floor and left with the same sticky bathroom floor. We will not be staying at Auld Holland on our next trip to Whidbey Island and we will not be recommending it to others.

We left to hang out with friends and I wanted to hop in the shower so I turned on the shower while I got my clothes ready once I was done doing that I opened the shower door to notice that the drain wasn't draining the water I hopped in anyways because I needed to shower. Mid way to the shower the water drains completely good for us but then I notice there is soap residue on the shower wall and completely grossed me out so I tried to hurry up only to realize that the water was getting cold didn't even get to condition my hair unfortunately. Fast forward to the present we wake up wanting coffee so I go and look in the basket only to find a blonde hair in the basket next to the loose straws...I move the hair and everything is chillen until I go to put water in the kureeg...there's a hair in the kureeg where the water goes..I took that hair out I was honestly fed up and forgot to take a picture. I let just water heat up within the kureeg to take out any dirt. I went online to see yelp reviews on this place and one of the reviews I saw said to look under the bed because they don't vacuum so I did and surprise surprise there's dirt, a metal wire, and some pink thing...yay...
