I've never been a catering customer, but I have been a guest often at events catered by 3 Girls Catering. Everything looked and tasted great! I was impressed by the presentation. So my review today is specific to ICONIC, which is their new restaurant & venue. Their location on Glenwood happens to be on my route to and from work. I stopped by on a recent weekday to get some dinner for takeout. I got two ridiculously good sandwiches: turkey with pesto & sharp cheddar and ham with brie and a fig jam. My dad and I couldn't decide which we liked best. They were hot, well-assembled sandwiches with flavors that we really enjoyed. They have a nice ramp into the front door if you need accessibility. Ample parking in the lot.

And Emili offered to step in and help with our dessert serving logistics even though it wasn't part of the order from WW. Emili is a very engaged vendor that provides outstanding catering! Kanak Express food truck, Sunday July 13th lunchtime at Green Acres Boise…read moreBeen awhile since I had visited Kanak Attack, the food truck started up in 2009 and the business model now includes a mobile group that supports fire fighter activities, as well as a permanent catering division at Lake Harbor with a restaurant. As with any food truck, some of the hardest part of finding them is knowing where to look. I've had the best luck by following Kanak on Instagram, but you can also look up Green Acres by Shoreline Drive on Pioneer street (new location) to see the multiple trucks scheduled that week. Another source I use a lot is the Treasure Valley Food Truck Finder (formerly Boise Food Trucks) on Facebook. Like most food trucks that feature proteins, the prices have jumped up in the last two-three years. A salad with protein is the best bet for bargain hunters at $10, or the three tacos (see menu photo) but I have found that getting the twenty dollar "Two Entree Plate Lunch" works out pretty good as it's usually enough for one meal immediately and another reheated in the microwave (rice) and air fryer (meat). The plate lunch includes a) choose a rice, b) choose a salad and c) choose a protein. My favorites are the Kalua Pig, which is smoky, shredded pork that is juicy, not overly fatty, but maybe to salty for some. I saved most of this and made enchiladas the next day at home. Teriyaki chicken is the same price, add a $1 for the Katsu Chicken which was juicy and crispy with the breaded fried exterior and includes a dipping sauce that's a little sweet and addictive, it's so good. Used to plain macaroni salad? Hawaiian style is a little different, but delicious and is usually the first side I finish. If you are a first timer, don't be afraid to ask for help figuring out what to order, the crew usually takes the time to answer questions and guide you. They operate out of a trailer and have a whole set up of barbecues outside the trailer with an outdoor "kitchen". I was really hopeful for drop dead delicious barbecue because they look pretty serious and had a decent amount of people waiting in line. Service was friendly and reasonably fast. I ordered a brisket melt sandwich for $13. The size of the sandwich would be equivalent to a 1/4 pound cheeseburger. It came on a bun with melted cheese and the brisket. They serve dry with different barbecue sauces to add yourself. The barbecue sauce that I chose was just the basic option and it was pretty good. When I sat down to eat the sandwich, the first thing I noticed was the fatty cut of meat and many bites were about 50-50 fat and meat. it was decent but not a rave for a food truck.

They also well things like pastries and, of interest to us, jarred roasted tomatoes. My wife had the #9 Monte Cristo, and I had the #3 Bonanza. Delicious. I also had a Manhattan Special Black Cherry soda, also super yummy. My mistake, not realizing what I was doing, was to order "whole" vs "half" sandwiches. The whole are footlong. I ate the entire sandwich, holy moly! My wife brought half home. Next time I would probably order a half. The owner, who I will call Guiseppe, had the heavy East Coast accent, and checked on all of his customers, making sure they were happy and satisfied. This place is a little gem. We're already talking about our next visit to Garden City to walk and have lunch at Uncle Guiseppe's!
