While in Illinois working for my cousins assisting with the Fall harvest, we were down for the…read moremorning thanks to a cold front that had brought a nice shower and even nicer cooler temperatures. My cousin asked me if I could drive their Chevy Camaro over here to get the back tires replaced. The tires were a special order and he had been notified that they had just come in. So of course I was more than happy to help out (did I mention it's a Camaro SS, ha!). I arrived at 8:30. The employee who checked me in was friendly and professional. He took my information and the keys to my car. Within 10 minutes they had the car in one of their work bays starting on the tire replacements. The waiting area was clean, consisting of 8 chairs in a "U" arrangement facing an HDTV. The showroom displayed the various tires they carried which included Michelin, Yokohama, Firestone, Uniroyal, and BF Goodrich - a nice selection and great quality tires. 30 minutes later the car was done, paperwork complete, keys returned, and I was back on the road. The bald tires had been replaced and the new BF Goodrich 275/40R20's tires looked and rode great (not to mention the safety factor). If you're in the market for new tires, I would recommend you check this place out.

Chose the Peoria Car-X for the ratings on Google and my friend's recommendation. I came in first to…read moreprice tires and see if they could get the Yokohama tires. Very quickly and professionally he checked two different sites and could get the tires I requested. He printed out pricing without trying to sell me another brand or pressure me. I did ask him what he recommended and he gave me several options and printed pricing again without any pressure. I told him I wanted to do more research and would contact him again. I actually decided to go with one of his recommendations because the tires were also on sale. It was determined after the complimentary alignment check that I would also need an alignment. This didn't surprise me because my tires were worn unevenly (after only 20,000 mi) After the tires were put on and during the alignment the technician (Chris) told me the tow bolts in the rear needed to be replaced. Those would need to be ordered. I asked if I could just find them at dealers and bring them back in. (Quicker) Long story short I got the bolts and they fit me into their schedule the next day. On my last tire purchase at a different store, different city, the technician told me he got the alignment close but not exact and to go to the dealer. He never mentioned a bolt problem. I did go to a dealer but obviously it still didn't get right because the bolts needed to be replaced first. I'm so appreciative that Chris patiently took the time to explain to me why and what needed to be done and his work ethic on my car. If they had just gotten the alignment 'close enough' I would wear through tires quickly again. I will gladly recommend and do future business at the Peoria Car-X.

About 6-8 weeks later I personally changed the oil and filter and rotated the tires. The tire they installed took me about 2 hours to remove. I have always torqued the studs at 105 PSI and never had a problem but this tire I needed a 24 inch long 1/2 inch drive to to loosen all the lugs except one- had to use wrench and cheater to get the nut removed. Found out the lug was cross threaded and have to get new lug stud and lug bolt intalled. Guess who isn't going to do this job or only future work for me. Now it makes me wonder if the printer was out of paper!!!!!!!!!!!

Firestone Quoted $800, Then Charged $1,800 -- Lied, Wasted My Time, and Left Me No Choice…read more After getting a $2,600 quote from the Ford dealership to replace the rear A/C lines on my 2016 Ford Explorer, I called Firestone for a second opinion. A woman told me they'd have to diagnose it themselves, which I understood. So I asked: "If your diagnostic confirms it's the rear A/C lines, what's the full cost -- parts, labor, and fees included?" She said: "$800 total." I confirmed again, and she repeated: "$800 all in." Based on that, I picked up my car from the dealership and brought it to Firestone. I also arranged a rental vehicle and made other plans around their price. Then they called back and said the price was now $1,800 -- more than double what they quoted me. I expressed how unfair that was, and the manager just said, "Well, we're still cheaper than Ford," with no ownership of the misleading quote. When I pushed back, he told me he didn't want to work on my car because I "didn't seem happy." I explained that I simply felt misled and had made financial decisions based on the original quote. I just wanted the job done. I reluctantly agreed to the $1,800. On the morning before the July 4th weekend, I called and was told the parts had arrived and the job would be completed that day unless a problem came up. At 5 PM, I called again and was told, "It's being worked on." But when I arrived in person, my vehicle was still sitting exactly where I had parked it. No work had been done. They lied. When I asked for my keys, the manager gave them to me -- no apology, no update, no explanation. I had a newborn child, and working A/C was essential for safety. I was counting on them, and they let me down badly. They didn't just change the price -- they wasted my time, ignored my concerns, and lied to me. I was so frustrated that I ended up trading in the vehicle just to move on. Firestone didn't care how their actions affected me. If you choose this location, get everything in writing and prepare to be disappointed. I won't be back.
