Note: Before reading this post, understand that I am reviewing the employee/costumer service, of Great American Cookies in midland not the locale itself. The wife & I were at the mall only to get a few cookies and when we walked up to the stand we were not greeted by a "hello" or "welcome" which at this time & age is pretty normal now. The demeanor of the employees was expressed by her body language & facial expressions. It was clear she did not want to be there. I always order a couple chocolate chip double doozies but this time they only had one. I asked the employee working the front, "do you have any more chocolate chip double doozies"? She said "No, we only have what's on display". This similar experience (on several occasions) happened(s) at the GAC booth at the Odessa mall. But, difference is, the girls working the counter there don't even ask, they have simply said, "give me a couple of minutes and I will make you one". It was clear the midland employee was not going to make any more cookies for me or anyone for that matter. I also ordered a chewy chocolate fudge supreme cookie that was not even edible. There was nothing "soft or chewy" about that cookie. I honestly believe it had been sitting out on the display all day. There was nothing fresh or soft about any of the cookies we took home. Unfortunately this is a negative review solemnly because of the employees working there not the store itself. We've never had any issues whatsoever with the Odessa store since that is the one we always go to. The employees at the Odessa store are always energetic, happy, and very friendly. They will accommodate our order even when they don't have it and are always willing to make anything we'd like upon request. Because of this, I refuse to go back to the midland store and purchase any cookies from there. It's unfortunate because this is the only dessert I get on the weekends. I will keep my business at the Odessa store since they've earned my business and keep earning it every time we walk in. I will do a separate post on the Odessa location since they deserve a great review! Came to pick up my cookie cake that I pre-ordered and text an exact photo of and was told "yes we can do that." Came to pick up at agreed upon time and it was never made. Very disappointed 3 year old for his birthday. Have been waiting for a manager 10min and no one will come out of the back. Extremely disappointing. read more

Haven't ordered from here in years because the last time I did, they messed up my order. This year my son wanted a cookie cake. I tried to decide between here and a grocery store. Decided to give them another try. AND........my order was messed up AGAIN! I ordered a basketball cake and there wasn't a basketball to be found on the cake. This is by far the absolute worst location I've ever been to. The staff isn't helpful at all, and you're lucky if they have all the flavors out (which they never do). I again wanted a kind they didn't have (double fudge) and so I asked if I could order them..... no one even acknowledged me so I turned around walked off. I will never visit this location ever again! I've spoke with the owner and it's sad because she is overly accommodating and incredibly nice! I gave this location 5 chances and I can definitely say I'll never be back!!! read more

I always enjoyed stopping by this place--a small nook in the wall on the edge of the Midland Park Mall Food Court. The prices may be a bit on the expensive side, but like we need the extra calories. Their cookies are sooo sweet, rich, & delicious, that it's worth every penny! My favorites have included the peanut butter cups filled with chocolate frosting, the brownies, the M&M cookies, the cream frosting sandwiched between 2 cookies (usually chocolate chip or M&M), & the double-chocolate cookies. For birthdays or other (special) occasions, they also make great cookie cakes! read more

The girl behind the counter that is always texting in the back and not helping waiting customers is so rude. I barely walked up and she said "what do you want?!" (To order) well dang girl, give me a second. There's like 10 flavors of cookies and I don't go to GAC often as I avoid sweets. I didn't know any flavors so I just panicked and ordered whatever was in front of me. I hate this place but love their cookies. They need not so hateful teenage staff or maybe a greeting of "have you been here before/do you know what flavors you want (we have)" or "order when you're ready/let me know when you're ready" such an awkward experience to be demanded to order with a scowl. She's awful and I'll go even less than I already do when I'm at the mall. read more

I pre-ordered and paid for my son's 5th and daughter's 3rd birthday cakes on Wednesday evening for pick up on Friday evening at 8:00 pm. When I arrived for pick up the line was about 5 people deep with one person helping them; one employee was leaned over the counter outside of the store front on her cell phone along with another employee leaned over the same counter but from the inside of the store also on her phone. The employee behind the counter helping the customers was clearly in need of some help as the line behind be was growing. When she requested back up from the said employees that appear to be in the middle of an intense gossip session, she was met with a sarcastic tone and attitude from them as they moved back to their positions to help the customers. It's now my turn in line and the employee I had the pleasure of talking with struggled to find our two cake orders. When the cakes were located the employees opened them for inspection first and discussed among themselves before bringing me the cakes. I opened the first cake, our daughter's cake was exactly as we asked, lots of decorations and spelled correctly. As I opened the second cake I was appalled at the half decorated cake with HBD, his name and one lone baseball. We requested sports theme with HBD and his name. The answer to the obvious question of half decorated was "they were swamped today". We attempted to prevent this from occurring by pre-ordering the cakes to ensure no problems. There was still about 30 minutes before the shop was due to close but the employees seemed more interested in getting out of there at 9 pm instead of making the order right. We are disappointed in the lack of ownership and quality displayed by the employees of the shop. We will probably just use the local grocery store from here out. read more

It was a lot better than the same old dry birthday cakes that I've usually purchased from the grocery store in the past.
