Here's 5 reasons for my 5 stars... * It's Asian Fusion - There's a wide range of American-Chinese,Thai, and House Created dishes... * There's a relaxing upscale casual ambiance. * They have a full service bar * Excellent service * High quality, flavorful food. I was pleased with Mark K and my first visit. It's in a small strip mall, but It's a lot nicer than what you would normally expect to find.. Mark got: Southern Style Egg Rolls - Very Tex-Mex. Good, filling, and not too spicy. Beef Pad Thai - Decent, but not mind-blowing. Could use more scrambled eggs and bean sprouts. I got: Hot And Sour Soup - Quite good with a nice smokey flavor. General Tso's Chicken - It's as good as it gets, folks, meaning it's a rival to my favorite at China Bell in Grove City. The sauce is excellent! The chunks of white chicken meat are just lightly breaded enough to hold the sauce but not overpower the dish. I'd say it's a 95% chicken to 5% breading ratio. And they still serve it with broccoli. This review is based on my preferences, so I gave it a 4, but it could easily be a 5 to others. The staff was friendly, and the inside was clean. I'll start with what was good: the Mei fun, takoyaki, and the (delicious) egg roll. What lacked for me were the soups and the sesame chicken. I can see many people loving the sesame chicken, but I like mine drenched in sauce, and this felt like a healthier version with a glazed grilled chicken taste. I am also not the biggest fan of Asian soups but I always try them in case I find one that changes my mind. People may love the soups as well. read more

The name says it all, Great Asian is GREAT! I grab lunch there all the time because it's fast, affordable, and delicious. I recommend the Great Asian Chicken and Shrimp or the Thai Basil Trio. They open at 11AM, their lunch specials are under $10 for meat and veg, white or fried rice, and soup or an egg roll. That's a lot of value and I don't know many other Chinese restaurants these days that are this affordable. They also do gluten-free dishes when possible, which again is great, because my wife has celiac and I'm gluten intolerant. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available. Better than expected, and much nicer inside than you might expect in a strip mall. I'd been past it a few times, though I don't get up this way much. Mike G suggested trying it out, and I'm glad he did. Service was great. The interior is dark but modern, very pleasant, a relaxing environment. The menu isn't huge but is interesting. Many standards, plus a few more unusual items. Mainly Chinese, but also a bit Asian fusion with Thai, and even things farther afield. I got the Southern egg rolls, basically eggroll wrappers with corn, beans, chicken, etc. Very good, a nice balance of flavors and textures. Could have used more heat; came with a mayo-y, ever so slightly spicy sauce. I wanted to try several things, but was tempted by the pad Thai. It was a solid version, good not great, but on the better side of "good." Loaded with beef (your choice of protein,) good sauce, good noodles, not many veggies. I might get it again once I've exhausted the list of other things I want to try here. I tasted Mike's General Tso's, and it is just the way I like it. Good meat, thin batter, savory sauce. Not too sweet. Also could have used more heat, but still, darn good. Prices are reasonable. Portions are good. Nice to have as an option in an underserved area. read more

The general tso's chicken tasted like frozen chicken nuggets that were heated in a microwave. The sesame chicken was just ok- pretty blah. The crab rangoons were good though! I like onions in my crab rangoons, but my husband doesn't so those were very popular with him. read more

Not bad Chinese food. Stopped here after a round of golf for lunch. The flavor of my general Tao's was good but the chicken was kinda dry. It was however all white meat as far as I could tell, which was nice. The dining area was clean and the staff were pleasant. read more

Great Asian is a wonderful restaurant in Westerville. My first experience was with takeout. I am always on the prowl for delicious beef chow fun, a Cantonese dish of wide, flat rice noodles with bean sprouts, onion, ginger, and green onions in a soy or brown sauce. The lady said, "You mean beef ho fun?" Being an ABC, I quizzically said, "Sure, if it means a dish with wide noodles?" It's not on the regular menu but they were very accommodating. The dish was fabulous, so I came another time to reorder. She starts speaking to me in Mandarin, so I ask her how she knows Mandarin if she's from Hong Kong? Oi (that's her name) said she learned it because so many customers spoke Mandarin. When I told her my parents are coming to visit, her eyes lit up and she recommended so many dishes she said they would cook for them. Cut to parents' visit: we ordered beef chow fun, ma po tofu, shrimp with honey walnuts, and a steamed flounder that melted in your mouth. I stopped by Great Asian, a restaurant in a Westerville strip mall. They do a brisk carry-out business, along with a comfortable dining room and full bar. Their everyday lunch special is quite competitive: $10 for an entree and soup of your choice. I went for the General Tso's with Hot and Sour soup. Both were advertised as spicy, but the flavor was very mild. I guess they gotta accommodate Ohio tastes. My chicken itself tasted fine. Nothing spectacular, but plenty tasty. I really enjoy eating here because the food is excellent. I would rate it a 5 if it weren't for one particular server. She is rude and questions the orders being placed. During my first visit, I attributed her behavior to a potential bad day, but after two more visits, I've realized she is consistently rude. Delicious Chinese Food - they offer dine in and carry out! I've been a few separate times and been equally pleased each time. Easy parking for either dine in or carry out. They deliver quick service but are not overly chatty. The restaurant is very clean and has several tables but don't go expecting a full "experience". It's casual and efficient and on the quiet side but nonetheless enjoyable. I got their sesame chicken and it was delicious! The chicken pieces were large and fully white meat that was well cooked but still very moist. Easily some of the best chicken prep I've had at a Chinese restaurant! Prices are very reasonable and dish sizes are fair (not insanely large like some Chinese restaurants) and still a good value. Stopped in for lunch for the first time and were blown away by the quality of the food! We both took advantage of the lunch special which included an egg roll, entree and choice of rice. My rating is scaled based on similar fast food Asian restaurants. Really struggled to find Asian food I enjoyed in the area until I discovered Great Asian. I've ordered three times and even with delivery, the food arrives hot. Favs so far are flaming wok fried rice with pork, black knight (so good!), General Tsos, potstickers and the egg rolls. Did NOT enjoy the sweet and sour or teriyaki chicken. Both were cooked to the point of being hard to chew. Also, only three pieces of pineapple in the whole sweet & sour dish. This restaurant is close to home but I have never actually dined in. The takeout/delivery experience is always perfect. Food here is flavorful with a unique menu. It is freshly prepared, beautifully presented, and never too oily. Honey Walnut Chicken is a favorite, with large toasted walnuts on top of a sweet, creamy sauce. I frequently order the green beans and Pad Thai as well as seafood options. Consistently delicious and a real gem to have in town! I don't know how they do it so fast--sometimes my order is delivered within 15 min! If you're hungry after a day at Hoover, or in the area for kid's sports, this is the place to go. read more

Usually it's chicken thighs. Perfect sauce, not too spicy and not overly coated with batter. I mean perfectly done!! The fried rice was good but just good. It's kinda hard to make fried rice the star if anything but it was still...good! The next time I went for lunch I tried the Sweet n Sour chicken with white rice. Perfect perfect perfect!! Not overly sweet on the sauce, green peppers and onion were crunchy, right amount of pineapple, and the chicken was perfect. I left no evidence on the plate. I was losing faith in Columbus having good Chinese food. I tried several places and left feeling there has to be better. Well, this is it!! Sorry no pics. That's when I know I like a place. Great Asian Restaurant is overstating it a bit. It's a pretty good Asian restaurant. The food is cheaper than you would think. It looks pretty nice inside. The atmosphere is casual though. I had the Szechuan Bean Curd. It's about $9 for the regular portion. The food is comparable to a carry out place in terms of taste. It doesn't taste any better than any of the other Chinese restaurants in the area. This one though has a more upscale interior. It certainly should since it has a bar. Thankfully the prices aren't upscale. If you're looking for a Chinese place that's worthy of actually dining in, maybe this is a good choice. It has okay food but it's relatively cheap. The restaurant is real close to Hoover Reservoir, so it's good after a visit. read more

Unfortunately probably our last visit. We just went simple with a small order: - general tso (C-) - it was not sweet or crispy at all - Vegetable Lo Mein (C-) not the standard lo mein noodle, it was more like fettuccini - fried rice (D) - no flavor - crab rangoon (D) - no flavor or very little filling, even the crab rangoon sauce was funky. Everything was very light flavored, very different from even standard Chinese food, and not in a good way. Daughter & I tried out this nice little restaurant last week. It was very neat & clean, as well as the restroom. This place have booths & tables. We noticed their were a number of folks picking up their orders but we chose to eat inside. We ordered vegetarian. I had the Spicy VeggieHeaven with Tofu & my daughter had the King Pao Tofu. Both were in delicious brown sauce. Mine was mild & hers was slightly hot. Temperature of the food was hot when it arrived and the service was wonderful. The staff were friendly & accommodating. We've been looking for a nice Asian restaurant dine most we went to have closed. Forgot to mention they do serve liquor. This day we chose water. I got this as takeout. I ordered the General Tso, fried rice, and crab rangoons. The General Tso chicken was tasty. Not spicy at all, but good flavor and the chicken itself was decent quality wise. The fried rice was good, nothing to complain about. The rangoons were tasty, but the best part of the meal was the red dipping sauce for them. I live in Las Vegas, before that Cleveland.. this is the first time in 15+ years that I've had good-cheap- neighborhood Chinese/Asian food! In Vegas you cannot find good Chinese food unless you go to a few very high priced restaurants on the strip. We have plenty of good Thai food, but no traditional Chinese dishes. I've been there over 10 years and haven't found one place off the strip! In Cleveland--good luck! I never found one good Asian restaurant.. but for Italian food, it can't be beat! Today- I really enjoyed what a I've been missing! The Sweet and Sour Chicken was perfect! Boy have I missed that! The white meat chicken was not over-breaded and the chunks were very tender inside and crispy out. The Singapore Noodles were really good-not dry, which is how you get it in Vegas. The curry flavor was just right. The Fried Rice was good.. it's almost impossible to screw that up.. but it had plenty of veggies and chicken. I like more flavor, but I just added some soy. The food is good, the price is not out of the balance to the food. Ordering was simple, food was ready in less than 15 minutes, easy in and out, ample parking.
