Long post. Terrible…read moreexperience and people! Not only are they inexperienced and don't know cars but they lie. I went in to get a battery replacement as they are affiliated with AMA. Due to the high volume of roadside service, AMA had suspended their battery service. They posted on their site that if you require battery service to head to your local Lube City for assistance and they will provide the same service to their members. I decided to take my car in and get a battery replaced as it was still under warranty and causing me problems. I get there only to be told by the "manager" that they cannot honour it. I tried to explain my situation twice and mentioned this info came from AMA's site but he refused to listen. He then told me he had no proof that I purchased the battery from them and there's nothing he could do about it. My battery is clearly an AMA brand and there was a sticker on it with the date purchased. He then tried to tell me that I could've printed off a sticker online and stuck it to the battery to make it look like an AMA brand. He later told me that I need all the paper work or they won't do anything about it. He then said they don't "carry" batteries that will work for my car and that I'd be wasting my time going to other Lube Cities with this. I drive a plain ole common car that requires a regular avg. battery. I called up AMA and explained what had happened. They reached out to them and the manager confirmed that no paper work is needed and that the sticker alone is valid. The manager also said that they are doing the battery service. So in the end he completely lied to me and tried to accuse me of being a liar. Some things I noticed- they do not appear to know exactly what they are doing. Asked me what car I drove yet they were inspecting my car. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that they did not end up provide the service. I've noticed other reviews saying their cars end up a mess after dealing with them.

I also asked Midas last week to provide copies of my previous invoices but did not receive them. My understanding is that any applicable brake warranty would cover parts only, leaving me responsible for the labour charges. Given my previous experience and the lack of follow-up, I have decided to have the brake repairs completed elsewhere. I am sharing this update so other customers can make an informed decision based on my experience.

The pressure can sometimes be confusing and overwhelming if you don't know much about cars. Anyway.... I decided to give it another try at another location. When I arrived around noon on Sunday, the two bays were occupied and there was a vehicle in line at each of them. So I pulled my car up behind them to begin my wait. One thing I've noticed after going to 3 or 4 locations now, is that some will run out to greet you, and offer a beverage or newspaper while you wait, while others will not. This location does not. But I don't actually care. The tech working in the bay I went into was Dan. There were no uncomfortable sales pitches and he didn't try to make me feel like a neglectful car owner. He was efficient and fast and made sure I knew what he was doing at every step. I would come back here for sure.

As a female, I feel incredibly safe as I have never been offered or sold services I did not require nor have I ever been overcharged. Their prices are the best in town. The staff has always gone out of their way to explain what my vehicle issues are and offered me all options that were available. The kindness and compassion of Dereck has touched my soul. Today not only did I have car issues, I was struggling with a serious family issue. The understanding and caring he showed me today certainly made God proud. Updating my review…read more Still coming to Chase and his team at Gate Avenue Service - I think we've brought 4 vehicles here now over 10 years. First and most importantly, Chase and his team are honest and hard working. They are extremely busy but always make time to diagnose and give second opinions. They have saved me money and given me solid advice multiple times when dealerships were leaving me astray. Most recently Chase and his team helped me to advocate (aka fight) Hyundai to get a replacement on my engine. Chase provided me all the documentation that Hyundai required not once, but twice, and in paper and in e-mail after Hyundai "misplaced" it. Chase did both of these requests same day. Chase has seen me at my worst (in tears) completely overwhelmed with car stress (and I don't speak car) and also completely flustered trying to explain what felt off with my vehicle when I seriously was not describing it well. The team at Gate is always courteous and treat me and all the customers I have ever seen with respect. The only limitation or downside with Gate is that they are really busy - and for good reason! So you may have to wait a bit for an appointment but they will always treat you right! PS They offer a program to store your tires for you! All of our dealings during that time have been with this company's first point of customer contact, that being Chase, the Manager. Chase has mastered the art of making clients feel welcome as soon as they enter the premises. I can easily say that Chase has provided top notch,first class customer service to us. I know my wife appreciates always being treated in a courteous and friendly manner. The quality of repair work is at a high standard and the prices are reasonable. What I like best is that once you buy a set of tires from them, they take care of you for life. Tire fills, flat fixes and patches... you name it. They're as quick as they can be without jeopardizing the quality. This is obviously a very busy time for them, with everyone just now realizing that they need their winter tires on. But they were able to get me in within a couple of days, and the service only took an hour once I was there.

My 73 yr old Aunt took her 2018 Lexus RX 350 to Kal Tire in St Albert yesterday because she had a…read moreslow leak on her rear passenger tire. She was told by Kal Tire St Albert her rear brakes had 1mm of brake pad remaining and should not drive her car until repaired. Trusting what the service manager said she left her vehicle with them and walked home. She called me later and asked me if this was normal for a vehicle with only 64000km on it and I said I will go down and talk to them. I looked at her rear brakes and could clearly see that there was more than 1mm on the rear brake pads. I walked in and said can you bring it in and pull the rear wheels off so I we can see the brake pad thickness and they so they did. I looked at the pads and said there is more like 3 or 4 mm of pad left which would mean she would still have at least 20000km of driving left before needing the brake pads replaced and the car was very safe to continue driving. The service technician measured them and there was 3.5 mm and I said nice way to treat the elderly with your up sell on brakes. They quoted her $520 for the rear service and she was scared to drive thanks to their lie. I picked up my aunt and drove her back to take her car. Upset and embarrassed over all this she will never return to Kal Tire for any service because they are dishonest and ripping off customers who trust them. During the oil change there was a hiccup and they needed to replace my oil pan gasket. They were incredibly apologetic and made every effort to make sure I was not inconvenienced. The manager personally took care of the issue and was kind, courteous and professional. I had to leave my car overnight as the fix needed to sit for 24hrs. They offered to drive me home and any other places I needed to go that day. Picked my car up the next day. Again amazing customer service from all the staff not just the manager Ryan. The way they handled an issue was impressive. I will continue to give them my service. Great price for tire swaps! I appreciate their professionalism and respect.

They should have hundreds of reviews, but their rating got so bad they had to start from scratch again. Bought a car from them 4.5 years ago, absolute nightmare, had a deal with the salesman to buy a brand-new Insight for $30,000 plus the 6.7% interest only. The shady finance department butchered the first contract up so bad, they had me owing over $48,000. After revisions, they then, conveniently forgot to change the bi-weekly payment from $267 bi-weekly to roughly $225 bi-weekly. I pointed it out to the girl in finance, and she said, "it's been already sent off to the bank, but ensured me that with the larger payments, the term would therefore shorten from 7 years to roughly 5.5". It made sense to me, so I believed her. OK, in retrospect, believing her after trying to overcharge me the first time, wasn't smart. But never thought a large auto maker like that would try to screw someone over a second time after being caught the first time. But hats off to St. Albert Honda, because they pulled it off. It's kind of like being warned by a referee for bumping into the other teams goalie, nodding in agreement with the ref, then punching the goalie in the head the minute the refs back is turned. Long story slightly shorter, I still have $11,400 still owing on a $30,000 car loan after paying $267 bi-weekly for 4.5 years of a supposed 5.5 year term. No matter how many auto loan calculators I used, including Honda's, I should only have roughly $6500 owing. This particular bank no longer deals with St. Albert Honda, and I can see why. Run the other waaaaaaay, unless you have an extra $5000 to spare!!!!!!

He stands behind his team and the repairs that they complete. He always squeezes me in when I am in an "emergency mode" with my car. Al goes the extra mile to make sure the repairs are done right and that I am not stranded without my vehicle. A phone call usually follows to make sure that you are satisfied.
