My 73 yr old Aunt took her 2018 Lexus RX 350 to Kal Tire in St Albert yesterday because she had a slow leak on her rear passenger tire. She was told by Kal Tire St Albert her rear brakes had 1mm of brake pad remaining and should not drive her car until repaired. Trusting what the service manager said she left her vehicle with them and walked home. She called me later and asked me if this was normal for a vehicle with only 64000km on it and I said I will go down and talk to them. I looked at her rear brakes and could clearly see that there was more than 1mm on the rear brake pads. I walked in and said can you bring it in and pull the rear wheels off so I we can see the brake pad thickness and they so they did. I looked at the pads and said there is more like 3 or 4 mm of pad left which would mean she would still have at least 20000km of driving left before needing the brake pads replaced and the car was very safe to continue driving. The service technician measured them and there was 3.5 mm and I said nice way to treat the elderly with your up sell on brakes. They quoted her $520 for the rear service and she was scared to drive thanks to their lie. I picked up my aunt and drove her back to take her car. Upset and embarrassed over all this she will never return to Kal Tire for any service because they are dishonest and ripping off customers who trust them. I'm a big fan of Kal Tire in general. This is now the 3rd or 4th location that I've dealt with and it's always the same. Great customer service and great products. What I like best is that once you buy a set of tires from them, they take care of you for life. Tire fills, flat fixes and patches... you name it. They're as quick as they can be without jeopardizing the quality. This is obviously a very busy time for them, with everyone just now realizing that they need their winter tires on. But they were able to get me in within a couple of days, and the service only took an hour once I was there. read more

I've come here a few times to get my winter and summer tires swapped. They do a pretty decent job. The staff are accommodating and nice. I phoned around to other tire places to see who could changeover my tires the earliest. During this time of year it's like winning the jackpot to get a decent appointment time. One of their competitors were booking into next month. One call to this location and I was given an appointment one week away. They told me to bring my car in by 9am on Monday, to ensure my tires could be changed on the same day. Luckily, I'm off work on Mondays. So happily, I brought my car in and got a ride home from my boyfriend. Inside, they have a tiny waiting area for customers. There's a tv, coffee, and some reading material available. For the few times I've been here, I haven't sat in this waiting area. Usually I go home...and wait for a call. I hadn't heard anything all day, and so I called just before 6pm to get an update on my car. The store is officially closed for the day by 6pm. However, I was told that they continue to work on the cars until they are done. Around 7:30pm I got a call that they were going to take about 20 minutes to change my tires. It was inconvenient to not have my car for the entire day. Despite this, I appreciated the fact my tires were done during my days off. I'd definitely recommend booking an appointment before coming here for service. I'm sure wait times vary, depending on the season. If it's a busy time, expect to be separated from your car for while. I took my car in for a wheel alignment and the technicians discovered that my struts were shot. Bottom line is that they aligned the wheels and did not charge me extra for the second wheel alignment after the strut replacement. I've had them do engine tune ups, oil changes, as well purchasing new tires during the past year. I find that Dean and his crew are personable, excellent and fair to deal with and the work is first class. Happy to be a repeat customer. read more

Very unhappy with service and integrity of this location. Brought my vehicle in with a flat and to have the tires rotated earlier today. For a text message about 4 hours later that it was ready. Once we got here we noticed the tires weren't rotated and my flat tire was not fixed and they had put my spare on. When we spoke to them they told us the damage was on the sidewall and was unrepairable. We were being told we had to replace the tire. Thank goodness my husband and Dad know about tires and knew this wasn't the case. We asked to see where the damage was and when they pulled the tire from the back of my car they couldn't show us the damage. So they took the tire in and fixed it and then rotated them as they said they already did and then we had to sit and wait over an hour to get it done. So if someone didn't know the difference they would have been scammed into purchasing another tire. Brutal. read more

We've been using Kal Tire for 17 years. We have always had excellent service, first from the Edmonton west end shop and then the St. Albert shop. On top of that we have used Kal Tire at various locations across Canada. It's always reassuring to us that we can go to a business that we know and trust anywhere in the country. We are always treated courteously and we are given information that is straight forward and not meant to gouge. For instance, we had a hole in our sidewall last year and when we took it to the Kal Tire shop in Terrace, we were told that the hole wasn't deep enough to cause us any problems. Good advice as the tire got us home. They could have just as easily told us we absolutely needed a new tire. The St. Albert shop is really busy so we understand when we have to stand in line at the counter. We get good product and we are really happy with our tires given how many miles we put on them. It seems to me that there is no sense running around trying to get a cheap price because you always get what you pay for. And the extra service at Kal Tire is worth any extra price we might pay. DON'T TRUST THE PEOPLE THAT WORK HERE!!! I went to get new winter tires on my older vehicle. Little did they know that I had just replaced my ball joints (MYSELF! In my own garage) no less than 20,000km ago. They tried scamming me off on telling me my ball joints needed replaced, and that they couldn't do an alignment without them being replaced. Since when did getting an alignment have anything to do with getting new winter tires?! I seriously think that places like this get away with these scams all the time. BE SMART. Terrible customer service! This place has really gone down hill in the last couple of years As a small business owner myself with 6 vehicles that require regular maintenance, I've done a lot of business here over the years. But, no more! Too many failed promises My most recent let down was: I stopped in and made an appointment for my personal vehicle All it needed was an oil change and front brake pads. I explained I was going to be out of town for a couple days and it would be a good time to get it done, I was told it would be no problem. So I dropped the vehicle off the next day at 7:30 am 52 hours later, upon my return I discover the vehicle never moved from where I parked it. Totally let down, yet again by this location. Do NOT take your BMW here! I called multiple kaltire shops (upon a recommendation) to ensure they were capable of performing a BMW spec wheel alignment, as I just installed new tires. I even got transferred through to the acting technicians, to speak with them directly and dispel so called "myths" that only BMW was fully equipped to perform a proper alignment on my 2016 x5. They assured me this 'myth' was BS and that they were more than equipped. I bought into what they sold me, and figured I'd save a few bucks and a bit of time taking it to this location. Man, was I wrong! Not only were they unable to finish the rear passenger wheel, but they were supposed to do a weighted alignment, and didnt do it. When I inquired, they lied to my face, saying there were sandbags in it, and that the tech would take it for a spin then unload them - I watched the entire process and not a single bag went in, or out of the vehicle (just my old tires). I obviously didn't pay for the alignment, as it wasn't done. I did have the new tires mounted and balanced there, and they reimbursed me the next day for this. That being said, they didn't use rubber blocks when they jacked up the back of the vehicle and marred the axle. Ended up taking it back to BMW and had it done in no time for only an extra $75 (well worth the 4hrs I wasted at kaltire). I have the before and after specs from kaltire and their 'after' specs on the 3 wheels they did do were actually out of BMW spec. Spare yourself the time and money with your Bimmer and go to a certified BMW tech. (Kaltire was actually upcharging for this vehicle, because they said a BMW tech would be doing the work...) read more

I have always had good dealings with Kal Tire, however, I was very disappointed when I went in to the St.Albert location for the first time for a flat repair and was turned away. The bays where empty and there was still an hour and a half till close but they said they could not or would not do a flat repair. This is the only Kal Tire I have been to that has had this attitude, I will not return. read more

STAY AWAY !!!!!!! This is the worst establishment I have ever had a vehicle serviced at . From the lack of knowledge to the excuses to the rude attitude given by there so called manager . Terrible, terrible service. I don't normally write reviews but I felt it necessary to inform people about this business. Our teenage son purchased a vehicle and we had it inspected at Kal tire in St Albert. The mechanic did the inspection and came up with over $1500 in repairs. They charged $175 for the inspection. We found this very hard to believe as the car had been inspected by the previous owner 6 months prior. We apparently needed shocks, the power steering was leaking etc etc. We took the vehicle to another garage and didn't tell them the car was inspected at Kal Tire. The inspection found the vehicle needed brake lines (300$), something the was not even mentioned at Kal Tire, but a very important safety concern. We then showed the garage the inspection from Kal Tire and they were shocked. They took us out into the garage and showed us the power steering, shocks and other things Kal tire said we needed and with our own eyes we could see these items were perfectly fine. Then they showed us the brake lines. They were definitely in need of repair. So Kal tire was going to gouge a teenage boy $1500 and send him on his way with faulty brake lines. We spoke to the head office and initially received a call back and were promised follow up, there has been no further communication. So terribly upset read more
