Should have gone with my gut instinct and stopped the haircut with Shannon within the first few seconds. I could tell simply by the way she started to use the clippers that this wasn't going to go well. She didn't hold them as you would typically see and the way she used them was unlike anyone i had ever seen. She took just a few, VERY quick strokes with the clippers which is what you see here in the photos. It resulted in entire sections of hair missed and a total and complete LACK of blending/fading. I think someone who has never cut hair has a 50/50 shot of doing better than Shannon did. She didn't trim around my ears, my neck, nothing. One side of my head is a totally different length altogether! This is an absolute botched haircut and I am embarrassed FOR them. This person should not be cutting hair. I had to ask for a couple things when she was "finished" just to make this even a touch better. Once I was outside and looked at it up close I was appalled. This is ridiculous and I now have to go get a second haircut to fix this hack job that I paid for at Great Clips of Avon. Save yourself the trouble and stay far, far away. read more

They used to be much better - my son and I came in, I checked us both in and was called after a wait. I let my son go first and then they never called me. They said i had to go to the bottom of the line, which is ridiculous. Why come together if we can't get our cuts at close to the same time? They are very disorganized. UPDATE - after posting this review, I got a call from the store manager, Rebecca. She apologized for the mistake and asked me to come back in. I went today and Rebecca gave me some suggestions on how to prevent any future mix ups with their app, which I will try. As I was leaving, she refused to accept payment, insisting the cut was on GreatClips. Bottom line- Rebecca and GreatClips stepped up and I am again a happy customer- 5 Stars for both! read more

Was lined up at 8:30 with my 4 kiddos to all get first-day-of-school haircuts on the only day I had off. Wanted to make sure we were first in line because of other appointments. Nobody showed up to open the store at 9. As I was looking at the check-in app, the opening time suddenly changed to 9:30 (although the posted hours on the door say 9). Consistent, solid men's haircut for $18 base cost. They recommend checking in on the app but I've been lucky with no problem walking in during the week or on the weekend. If you want a wash they may or may not charge you extra I guess depending who's working. read more

To the manager, I had an appointment last Thursday, January 21st. My appointment was scheduled for 9:30, but she didn't have the key to the store, so I waited 17 minutes while the temperature was in the low 30s. When I finally got in the store, I showed her a picture of my hair style but wanted just a little shorter. What she did was cut it a LOT shorter. I feel like I got a boy hair cut. I received a coupon for Great Clips in Avon CT. I checked in online and received an 11 minute wait notice. I drove to the salon and was greeted by name. My stylist was Gina, and with only a short description of how I wanted my hair to look, Gina recreated it in less than 15 minutes. Coupon or not I am now able to get the same haircut I got for 40 years at one salon. Losing my job due to Covid has reduced my budget by half and am no longer able to pay their price. For me, my hair appearance is critical to my day-to-day quality of life. Coupon or not, I will always ask for Gina at Great Clips in Avon CT. read more

Went in for a TRIM Told the barber to give me a haircut that didn't look like a haircut He gave me a haircut fit for the Marines or prison. He didnt even comb or brush it at the end. Then he had the audacity to boast how good he is...NOT, unless he worked in a correctional facility before this gig. I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Rebecca was great! I, embarrassingly, hadn't had a haircut in a year and a half but Rebecca took great care of me. She did a great shampoo and cut, made some recommendations, all while remaining nonjudgmental about the condition of my hair and scalp! She didn't pressure me to buy products or get a cut every 6 weeks or anything and gave me a free sample at the end. Would recommend! read more

Really angry I made an appointment on the app and it said 76 minutes . I showed up at the 70 minute mark and they said there is a 45 minute policy which isn't posted or on the website. I ended having to sit there for 30 minutes while they took others who scheduled after me. read more

My experience was trouble today. I was mistreated one of the stylists. It checked in online and arrived a few minutes early. Before I started, a guy (called Greg S) came in and did not even check in. He claimed that he was there earlier. One of stylists (I believe her name is Katie) greeted him and told she could get him in. after a few minutes, the stylist asked me wait after him. Teuta was really nice and helpful last week when I got my haircut. She asked me lots of questions on my preferences and styles. If you aren't sure that your hair stylist knows what you make sure to speak up. This is my second time coming to this location and I will return in the future. Also side note: I has great conversation with Teuta and that makes the times pass by which always makes getting your haircut more pleasant. read more

This place just butchered my hair today. I went in for a trim off the back, ears and top. I walked out looking like Zombie. I had hair sticking out everywhere and I was actually embarrassed. I asked the technician to fix it. She refused. I went home and tried to save it myself with scissors. I improved it but it's not even close to what I wanted. Never go there! read more

You get what you pay for and maybe a little less. Stylists spent the whole time gossiping. When she distractedly, clipped my ear rather than hair, she poured powder in it and beat it with a towel. I guess some people would pay good money for that type of thing, but not really my style. Horrible horrible place to go. Inconsistent stylists. Inconsistent owners. They need to be shut down. The haircuts I saw walk out of there in the short time I was there were really bad. So glad I'm out of there.. check your fades people they don't know how to fade. You will be better off cutting your own hair. One more thing if you're looking for management you can forget that. They put that they are hiring manager to get you to apply it's all a lie. read more

Wish I read all the negative reviews before going to Great Clips today!!! In my late 60's I was informed I have a cow lick at the bottom of my hairline!! She kept cutting and shaving until I couldn't take it anymore - she totally ruined my hairstyle.....my only saving grace is that hair grows, however, right before a birthday celebration is not very comforting. I may have to find a wig!!! Won't catch me again :( read more
