It was my first time going to a salon for a "real" haircut since I usually opt for Supercuts. Both my roommates suggested Style Points to me. I requested a Level 1 or 2 stylist when I booked the appointment online. I booked about a week and a half in advance. There was availability before that, but nothing that worked with my work hours. Check in was super easy and I was offered tea of coffee. Hot green tea was brought to me while I waited for my stylist. When she came out, she sat me in the chair and asked exactly what I wanted, if I had any pictures saved, and my hair type. She was super friendly and around my age so we were really comfortable chatting. The shampoo and conditioning was heavenly and the cut came out absolutely perfect. She even gave me styling tips and product recommendations. Even a month out, the style is growing out exactly how I wanted it to. When I mentioned it was my birthday month, they immediately applied the $10 off products or services promotion and my first-time customer discount. What should have been a $40 (plus tip) haircut came out to $25. I should also mention that when I was in the chair, my stylist mentioned she was new to the salon. When I asked how new she was, she told me she had taken her first non-trial client just that week! I could not tell at all before she mentioned because she was so comfortable and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Style Points. Secondhand, I know one of my roommates has used their coloring services as well and really loved the results. I moved here from Indiana back in June and needed a new hair stylist. I found Emma on Yelp reviews and immediately went so she could do a pre check and see how my recently cut hair looked and felt so that in 6 weeks we could cut it the same way it had been done in IN. Have been here for almost 7-8 years now but in patches. All my stylists left to have their own salons which was awesome. But somehow those locations never worked for me so kept coming back here. I had mixed experiences here always. But today's review will be just based on today's experience. My boyfriend needed a haircut and when I called and asked for appointment and if possible include waxing eyebrows at the same time for me. I was given 9 AM. We were there exactly at 9. I was told my stylist will do a Color application and will take me in. Since I will anyways have to wait for his haircut I was okay. But then it was 9:14 and she took in the lady who was to have the Color done I'm guessing. Also sounded like she was late. So instead of making her wait, they decided to make me wait more. Finally at 9:27 they came yo call me. Excuse me. When I'm late I'm told a lot of things abt how busy they are and inconvenient they will be and they can even refuse service. Okay. So you don't think I have any work, that I can wait for as long as it takes you to take in the other guest who was clearly late. Is it because mine is waxing which is may be 10 times less price than her colouring!!! I'm extremely disappointed by their professionalism. Just reminded me why I left every time I came back here after few visits. No I don't need to Color my hair every now and then so I will only need haircuts may be once a year and waxing every month. Months ago I went in for my first diva cut. The salon was very nice and staff was helpful. I was so excited about my first deva cut and brought photos of what I wanted . I think my mistake was that I booked with a entry level diva cutter. Again, she was very sweet but seemed unsure of herself, I remember thinking....uh oh....My bangs were cut so far back along the sides of my face . It looked as if I had a helmet on . Unfortunately, it's going to take me years to grow them out into the style I originally wanted. At my age , nearing 60 I knew that the style I wanted was realistic for how much hair I was giving her to work with. I left with a ton of deva curl products and a hair cut that was less than presentable & NOT what I wanted . I had strands hanging down that were 2 inches longer in places??? My friends were a bit shocked as well when they saw the final results. I am a very easy to please lady, so this was quite a disappointment to me. Next time I would book with a top tier cutter and pay the extra $ . This has been a lesson for me that I am reminded of every time I put my baseball cap on to go out. read more

I feel kinda safe but I wish the barber did not take the mask off when she was handing the sample over to me. My hair was a mess though. Thinning was done with a tool but the skill wasn't particularly great and despite having long hair, there was no overall curve and the hair was cut too short, shorter than I asked for. That left me no room for improvement. Layers weren't done very well even though I repeated that need a couple times during the haircut. Do not recommend for people with thick hair. read more

This was my first time, so I was very nervous as I have been going to the same salon in my old hometown for over 10 years. I was welcomed when I walked in the door, the receptionist took my coat, and offered me a warm beverage. I declined at first, but after 5 mins, she asked me again if I was "sure." I asked for the Hot Apple Cider. It was to DIE for! Sooo good! Brittany was my stylist. She was awesome! I was only going in for a trim and wanted bangs. She evaluated and told me honestly that it would not look good on me. My gut told me the same thing although my sis was pushing the bang bit. She did a side sweep instead which looks terrific and fresh. I had a nice shampoo, trimmed a couple inches off, and she even curled it at the end since she thought it would be fun, which I have to say looks wonderful on me. Brittany was so accommodating and made me feel comfortable in a new setting. Since I was a new client, I received 15% off my cut. The prices are fantastic! If you are looking for personalized service with trendy, up to date styles, I say try this place out. I will go back as I feel like family and I already am receiving compliments on my cut! The lovely receptionist took my jacket, offered me a drink and brought me to an additional seating area since the front one was quite crowded at the time. After sipping on my coffee for a few minutes I was greeted by Emma, my stylist. Since this was my first time at the salon we went over what I was looking for as far as my new cut and color were concerned. It has been years since I have had my hair colored and even longer since I have switched salons. I just recently moved to Manchester, CT from out of state. It's always so hard to find a new salon. All you can do is go off of reviews and hope for the best. Well, Style Points did not let me down. From the minute I walked in, I felt welcomed and valued as a customer. Emma was my stylist and she was FANTASTIC! We collaborated regarding color and cut...made some adjustments along the way...and the end result was one of the best salon experiences I have ever had. It was certainly the BEST first-time experience in a salon. In the past, I've felt like I needed to forgive the stylist and give her time to get to know my preferences and how to work with my hair. Right from the start, Emma "got it" and could see my vision. Even the blow out and style was spot on. When I got home, my husband's eyes lit up an he said, "Mmmmm...you're definitely going back there!" ;-) LOL I agree. I would offer two words of caution. First, you cannot see the salon from the road. In fact, I drove right by it the first time. Second, this is a salon with salon-priced services. Don't expect to get out of there for under $125+ if you want a cut and color. That's typical for salons and certainly not the most I've paid. Just a heads up. They have some nice promotional programs for first-timers, as the other reviewers have mentioned. You get 15% off your services and products, if you would like. One other thing I found refreshing if that my appointment confirmation came by text the day before and I also received an appointment reminder by text the day of my appointment. Nice! I prefer that over being called and found it to be a modern approach to customer service. Clean, modern, bright salon in the plaza across from evergreen walk. I have my hair done religiously every 6 weeks and I am very particular about stylists/salons. I love the staff here - they are all welcoming and down to earth. Samantha has been my stylist for about 8 months and she is outstanding!! She has colored and cut my hair, as well as styled it for special events. She is friendly, calm, not overly chatty, professional, and genuine. I would recommend her to anyone. The pace of this salon is relaxing yet efficient. It's tranquil, but you never get that feeling of "God, how long have I been here..?" This is the most personable, hair salon I have ever been to. They took me in the day I called, after a major, faux pas' at a Vernon salon. Melanie did CPR on my straw head of hair. They put a stool under your feet as you wait for your color to process, and during the rinse. Nobody does that! They ask you if you want anything to drink, and they had lemon water, coffee or tea. Talk about going the extra mile. My hair was deep conditioned and trimmed, plus she did my roots. My hair looks two hundred percent better then when I came in. Style Points is a very cozy salon. I find most of them to be stuffy and snooty, but not Style Points! Super friendly staff, lovely beverage options while you wait, and exceptional stylists. This week I was looking for a complete change in my look and opted for the shortest haircut I have ever had. I was already a little nervous, but when I knew that the stylist they set me up with was brand new and had just finished her apprenticeship, I was skeptical. But Melanie is fantastic! The cut she gave me is exactly what I had envisioned and she took her time to get it just right. I had a great experience and am quite sure Melanie will be my choice every time I get my hair done! On another note, Kerry - the owner, is a sweetheart. Not only is she friendly and welcoming with the obvious gift of hospitality, but she is a very smart business owner. Prices are fair, and staff is very friendly. The women in this salon all looked great, clearly these stylists know how to do hair. With that said, I went in looking for a new style. I didn't know what I wanted and was looking for advice and quite honestly a little creativity on the stylists end. I feel likes my stylist wanted me to tell her exactly what to do. I told Tara about how I had been re-growing my hair from a stacked bob after I donated my hair in Jan. 2011; after I explained my daily routine, and needs (polished, needs to go into a ponytail, super-baby fine hair) she had great suggestions and her ideas were right along the lines if what I had in mind. Came in for a cut due to my ends being so dry and split. I came as a walk in and got paired up with Gina, told her I just wanted the bad ends gone and she could cut it how ever she thought would look best on me trying to keep the length longer if possible. I left with beautiful long layers she ended up keeping most of my length but still managed to cut mostly all of my dead split ends off. My hair looks so much fuller and healthier, I'm more than pleased. Other than the actual haircut itself the environment was really welcoming and friendly. So I've taken my kids here a few times to get their hair cut and it's always been good. They've seen Hayley and Emma. Nice girls, good with kids, and can cut hair pretty well. Since I was there with them one day, I decided to set up an appointment for myself. I asked the receptionist who is the best at short hair, she said Tara, so I booked an appointment. Went there the following week for my cut. Showed pictures of exactly what and how I wanted my haircut. Walked out with nothing of what I wanted, stray hairs longer than others, bangs completely lopsided, one side of my head longer than the other - significantly. All in all just a mess. Had I noticed this stuff right there I would have said something, but it was the next day after I went to style it myself I truly saw all the flaws. Lesson learned. read more

I've had so many bad experiences here that I left to go to another salon. I decided to give them another chance just recently because they use goldwell products. They didn't disappoint to disappoint. I've had horrible haircuts here. I got bangs once. I ended up going home with 2 different hairstyles on each side of my head. Way more bang cut off on one side than the other. It was unfixable. I went around with lopsided hair for over a year because everyone told me that I just had to grow out the uneven part. I've had a haircut from Kerri, the owner, where I actually went home and cried. If you just get your hair dyed here and not cut, then you have to pay for a blow dry. That's normal, but most places you would get a rough dry. The strangest thing about this place is that they will barely towel dry your hair, even mid winter. It's like they don't know how. And I've seen quite a few hairdressers here. And they all do this. When I say they don't towel dry, I mean I've left this salon and squeezed water out of my hair. I got into the habit of bringing a towel with me to keep in my car for when I left. Once I asked for a rough dry, and someone actually blew dry my hair for one minute, but it was so wet, she towel dried my hair after... ??? So, after winter and covid, I decided to give them another chance. I had an appointment today at 9am, which is early for a second shifter. My hairdresser didn't show. Kerri was there, and offered apologies, and suggested I run errands until my hairdresser showed up, which she didn't, and there isn't really anything open at 9am anyway. So after a half hour, Kerri apologized and asked if I'd like to rebook. I told her how I've had so many bad experiences here and that I had come back this once to give them another shot. She didn't ask what those experiences were. She just apologized, which is nice, but you'd think she would have made the time to do the one thing I came in for, which wouldn't have taken that much time. read more

I've gotten a haircut here twice now and they both turned out great! However getting to that point was a bit tough. My first time, my stylist went at least 20 min over with her last client and no one let me know this until I asked. The second time, the same stylist wasn't able to make my appointment so I was given to a lower level stylist. They also just decided to straighten my hair (it's naturally curly) without warning me that it costs extra, although I wasn't charged that day, probably for not getting my stylist. Either way, I did get a great haircut both times, but it was a bit stressful getting there. read more

Signed up for a Devacurl cut (which is time consuming and expensive but worth it if you've got curly hair) and got a GORGEOUS cut from Brittany, a Devacurl specialist, that was beautiful, informative and awesome. She was down to earth, hands-on, receptive, smart, teaching, and a great communicator. The owner of the salon, herself a curly girl and Devacurl practitioner, had a gorgeous mane and served as walking inspiration for my cut, which Brittany executed beautifully. At no point did I feel uncomfortable or unable to express my opinion about hair. The worst haircut I've ever had. I asked for someone with lots of experience texturing and blending because in need my layers cleaned up. The receptionist recommend Tara. She didn't texturize or blend. Instead I have a distinct line in the top layer on the side of my head. One side of the back is longer than the other side. My layers flip out in the back now too. But the worst of her not listening was her jacking my bangs. I wear them straight down, a heavy bang with a undercut so that they will lay down and not flip up. You think she would have noticed that when she greeted me. She even said "like Betty Page bangs"! I walked out one side cut way shorter than the other, a side sweep bang! She cut them wet too. Even though I told her my bangs will bounce up a lot, I just want a dusting taken off. She took off over 1/2 inch. I look like I let my 3yr old niece cut my bangs. I also expect a certain level of service when I go to mid or high end salons. Things like shampoo twice at the bowl and a scalp massage. A stylist that listens and can actually preform the technical skills needed to complete the job. A style-out at the end of the cut. Apparently their half hour booking for haircuts didn't allow time for her to style. She was reluctant to even style me out. Which was awful anyways. I'm so upset because I'm new to this area and this is the salon with the highest rating! I need to start job hunting but how can I be taken seriously with a haircut like this? They need to quit classifying themselves as mid-range, this is clearly a "chop shop"! read more

Great haircut for the price! I was looking for a new salon as I recently moved into the area and I trusted my fellow Yelpers that this would be a good option. I called and they were able to see me the next day. I was greeted with a cool glass of cucumber water and met my stylist almost immediately. Haley did a great job. They have different levels of stylists that correspond to experience and she was Level 1, which is the the least experienced. I would have never known.
