I wasn't planning on getting my hair cut anytime soon for fear that the next one would be even worse, but after 12 weeks my hair was so out of control I had to take the risk. Enter Rootz. I'm so glad I gave them a chance! My stylist, Jenny, listened to my story, thanked me for coming in despite my trepidation, and then gave me a fabulous cut and style. I've avoided hair salons for almost a decade because I felt that the cost of services did not live up to the end result... until now. My 10 year old daughter wanted some color in her hair and I thought Organic was the way to go. Charlotte not only talked us through the entire process and product line but also treated my daughter like the client -- with such respect. We love how her hair turned out so much that I decided to stop using a box dye on my hair and have Charlotte put in some highlights. I officially LOVE MY HAIR again after being disappointed with it for so long. Charlotte chose the right highlight color to complement my complexion and the cut was perfect, which can be tricky since I have wavy / curly / fine hair. The environment is open and laid back. Rootz is, without a doubt, the best salon I've ever been to. When I make an appointment to get my hair done at Rootz, I turn it into a tiny little vacation. I love going to Collinsville, grabbing a bite to eat at LaSalle Market, and then heading over to Rootz, right next door. Everyone there is not only professionally very capable, but they are warm and friendly to anyone who comes in. And, the most important thing about any salon... They listen to what you want! For the type of salon (organic, all natural, highly trained professionals) I feel the prices are very reasonable. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, offering you water, tea, or even a glass of wine. I just can't say enough about this place. Excellent salon with experienced stylists who work to make sure the customer is happy. Charlotte is fantastic and I look forward to seeing her again. I went here specifically to try organic color on my damaged hair- and there really is a noticeable, positive difference with their color line. The cost is the same as any nice salon, but my hair looked much less damaged with organic color than the regular color that I had been getting at another high end salon . My entire family went in one afternoon and we all got haircuts by Krista. She was THE most capable and proficient stylist I've ever met. She was amazing with our 2-year old son, too. And he looked so handsome after she was finished. For my own cut, I did a daring thing and said, "Cut it as short as possible," and she did a style I never would have imagined for myself. But I love it!! And I will continue to proudly support this local business. Not sure why another hair place opened up across the street in such a tiny town, but do yourself a favor and choose Rootz! Rootz Salon has a warm vibe and super-pro stylists. My hair was near-black from over-dying past the root line (self-inflicted). I dreaded harsh bleaching--and even worse, a botched job that would leave my hair like an orangey straw. After listening carefully to my fears and wishes, Anneliese explained there was another way. She dyed the roots the light brown I wanted, and gave me subtle baby highlights in various caramel shades all around. Some she painted and wrapped in foil and others she painted free-hand at various time intervals to give an artistic and organic look. Sheer perfection. Thank you, Anneliese and Rootz! read more

i recently moved to the area - Katie at ROOTZ is fantastic. I'm accustomed to fancy NYC and SF haircuts and I was worried I wouldn't find anyone to keep my tomboy/femme ways out in rural CT. but luckily ROOTZ & katie rescued me from temptations to just pull out my own clippers. katie has exceptional attention to detail and is very communicative to ensure you get what you want. Had an appointment scheduled for 6:30 for a simple haircut. After driving to appt after work, I literally waited in the front sitting area for 45 minutes with no explanation of the delay. This was just my third visit after getting referred here by a colleague, the hair stylist is a gem but leaving someone for 45 minutes is pretty much rude. At about a half an hour I even asked how much longer it would be because I needed to meet my spouse for an appointment after. I can understand of a 15-minute wait or even an explanation that there's a delay (because I would have just rescheduled after the long delay)but when nothing is said it's unacceptable. To a new salon I go for better service. read more
