I have always liked Great Clips, but as someone who is handicapped and relies on a mobility scooter, even in my own home, I was spoken to in the most condescending, hurtful manner by the manager, who compared her having to walk from the parking lot similiar to my need for a scooter to get around, even though this woman was cutting hair, and working full-time on her feet. The issue started because I registered online using my name for 2 people, as usual, since the wait was 22 minutes. I told my mom I was not sure about getting my haircut because I had a new cut in mind and wanted to review it with the stylist once called. There was no parking up front, so I let my elderly mom off up front and told her to let them know the registration was under my name and I'd be in. I then parked in the handicapped spot, my husband unloaded my mobility cart and I went in. I was told by the person upfront that they had no record for me, but my mom was already in a chair. I asked them how this was possible when the registration was mine. My mom's name was no where on it. After much hemming and hawing, I was told that my mom came in and told them it was under my name and that I was coming in NOW, but she mentioned that she was not sure if I planned to get my haircut meaning I wanted to talk with the hairstylist when I was called. Without waiting the few minutes for me to get in, they decided to completely delete my name from their list, even though my mom said I was on my way in the door. However, when I did finally get to talk with the "manager", who stood there when I first walked in with questions and acted like she didn't know what was what, I asked what should've happened if I did not show up. She said that they would've skipped my name and gone to the next person until I came in unless I did not show up for 15 minutes and that after 15 minutes, they would delete me. Why was I deleted when I came in less than 5 minutes after my mother? I even made sure that the manager understood that I was delayed the short time behind my mom because I needed the mobility scooter to be able to get inside, to which this woman who is standing in front of me, actively standing cutting hair, had the audacity to tell me that she knows how I feel because she has a bad hip and has to walk into the store from the parking lot each day since she can't park in the handicapped spots. I think this disparaging attitude is what upsets me the most. How dare someone who does not HAVE to constantly use a mobility cart to get around tell me they know how I feel because they have to walk inside from the parking lot. I would love to have that option and would love to be able to stand for hours working. When I was able to work, I worked in customer service industries for many years. Had I been faced with this situation, I would've either taken mom back and left my name in line since I was coming right in or I would've told mom that since this was my registration, she would have to wait for me. They could've gone on to the next person if need be. That action would've been understandable. However when I told them all of this, I was told I would need to wait 19 minutes because I was at the back of the line now. I would've been appeased by a simple I'm sorry this happened instead of excuses and blaming my mom. As I was discussing all of this with the manager, a nice elderly gentleman came in who had also registered online, and he told them to take me next, as he was called as soon as he came in the door. To this the manager said no that I did not need to get my hair cut there because I had told her that she had lost 2 customers and that I would no longer be coming there to get my hair cut. At this point, it became apparent to me that the manager had no desire to make anything better. In fact given her comments about disability, it seemed she was enjoying making a bad situation worse. I do apologize to anyone who was in the store this afternoon as I was angry. However having your life altering disability compared to the inconvenience of having to walk into work from the parking lot does tend to leave one upset and feeling very small. read more

I have been getting my hair cut with this company for sometime now and never had any problems. Today, I was greeted by a woman who I can only guess had anxiety problems. "Just cut it short all over and leave the front," I said. Simple, huh? Not to this woman! She kept asking how I liked it. "Just wack away," I simplified. This seemed to make things worse. I explained that I used to keep it longer on top, but the last person who cut it politely suggested not to. "Not me," she proclaimed. "I don't give suggestions unless I'm asked." Want to bet? I'll admit I had a couple of doubts about my hair when I came in, but not as much as this woman! At this point, I'm thinking I'm making her uncomfortable, so I try to give her a big tip. This is where I messed up. On the tip, I awkwardly hit an extra zero, cleared it and told her I cleared it. She told me it was going to charge me extra money and got help. I've been to this Great Clips a couple a few times, & the stylists have gotten progressively better over time. The first time I went - around the time it first opened - a stylist (whose name escapes me) cut my pixie cut somewhat jaggedly & longer than I wanted. My hair grows fast, however, so I didn't make a fuss. I always try to get a different stylist every time I go get a cut, just to see how I like their method, & this last time a very kind stylist named Amber cut my hair. She was friendly & attentive to what I wanted & went slowly so I could figure out how short I wanted the cut. She was efficient but didn't rush me, even though I came in 45 minutes until closing. I think I found a keeper! I have always been seen right away upon arrival, but I do recommend using the online check-in feature to give the stylists a heads up. On a Monday afternoon at 3:15pm was informed a 45 minute wait. Left & returned 30 minutes later. Waited more than 30 minutes more and still wasn't in a chair. One person cutting hair. Asked her if she was alone and she said no. Asked if I was next and again no - still one person in front of you. Left and called to get the number of the owner. Spoke to "Tori" who claimed she was the manager. Informed me she was only gone for "5 minutes" (a lie) and was cutting hair too. Asked what would be up if I came back and she nonchalantly told me I would wait another 49 minutes for leaving. I double checked she was the manager and this was how she was treating what could have been a long term customer on his first visit but who would now never come back and she confirmed yes to that as well. If you're willing to accept sub-standard customer service from a MANAGER you can go ahead and go here but I warned you. read more

Rudest "manager" I've ever encountered. Clearly she doesn't like her job so why is she even there? I waited 45 minutes and clearly she was rude because of my skin color. This is a racist business and I'd recommend ANYONE in the Lockhart area to choose another place to get a cheap haircut. Do not go here! The haircut I received was ridiculous, not even or cleaned up right. Not to mention after asking if they could trim beards the reply was yes for an extra five bucks. MY BEARD WAS RUINED. I just asked for a trim and it got butchered! read more

You know, I don't splurge on myself much. I usually cut my own bangs and trim away unevenness while handling my own root touch ups to save the money for real necessities... I only treat myself to a haircut about once or twice a year when I'm really needing an uplift, to feel lighter, to feel a little more attractive and polished. I go to Great Clips when I do so that the splurge isn't much of one for the cut (and so I can maybe buy some really good product while I'm at it). I always leave a large tip and feel better about myself when I leave than when I drove up. Not. This. Time. I walked in for just such an attitude elevation only to be scolded for not signing in online by the girl working the register (who had NO IDEA what to do with someone who didn't want to announce her full name and phone number to a room full of strangers!). I was told there would be a wait and, again, was chided for not registering online. I then saw/heard a stylist sitting at her station (with a full waiting room) and loudly moaning about her "cankle ache" & thought, "Please, not her."... When I was finally called, sure enough, the same stylist was too busy ordering lunch from a local eatery to hear the length I wanted my hair. She complained that the "skinny bitch" taking her order (in the middle of my cut) was always giving "heavyset people like *you & me* a hard time for ordering cheeseburgers" (EXCUSE ME?! I came here for a haircut, not to be cut down!). No surprise, my hair got butchered in a cut way to short for my rounder face (which matches my *apparently* obese body?). I did not leave my usual tip and did not spend nearly what I would have if my ego hadn't taken an even worse mangling than my poor head of hair. Even $13 is too expensive when your service comes with a side order of insults. I will *never* go back to this place. read more
