Updated from visit on 2/6* I've been a regular customer here for nearly 5 years. Every two weeks I'm in the chair. And I always get the same thing: 5 on the sides, with a trim up top to match. I've been a proud GC customer, but I can't go back now. I went in after work one day-checked in using the app, and waited about 2 minutes before being ushered to a chair by a lady I had never seen before. Her last name started with a B, Baek or something like that. She cut my hair like she was in a race and wanted gold. She was snapping on attachments so fast I couldn't tell what she was doing. She cut around my ears with the buzzer- not the more precise sideburn trimmer-and now you can see the rough lines! She cut my sideburns off without asking how id like them. She "trimmed" the top of my head with a comb and a buzzer. I'm not a little kid- use the dang scissors!! How lazy are you!? Now my 5 on the sides is more like a 2. I know these are 1st world problems, but if you're charging as much as a nicer barber for a haircut ($17), it would be nice if your customers felt like they were getting taken care of-and not advantage of. read more

Don't bother using Great Clips' online check in - they will still take guests in order that they arrive which totally defeats the purpose of online check-in. Still waiting.....sigh....haircuts here have always been ok. Price is right. Haircuts are average at best. Online check in is a joke. read more

Used the online check in for my son and I to get hair cuts and no wait. So I am a little grumpy when I get my haircut in that I am not fond of idle small talk Usually I have to politely explain that I am not feeling loquacious but with the woman who cut my hair, Kristha their no need. She was all business. Fast, efficient and professional. Now my son, sweet kid he is loves talking to people. So it was nice to hear the pleasant banter he was having behind me. Rebecca was pretty good at balancing conversation and hair education for the many questions fielded by teenage boy. All in all both of us are very happy read more

I love this salon. I've been coming here since early 2008... or I should say my daughter has been a patron since early 2008. When she was just 1 year old, Rosario gave her the best little A-Line! My daughter feels so comfortable with her and now at 4 totally rocks an asymmetrical A-Line... everywhere we go, adult men and women ask, "Where did she get that cut? It's so sophisticated for a toddler." Rosario is the only stylist we've been to and cannot speak for the others; we will continue to see her until we move. read more

First off, the hours are wrong on yelp, they close at 7 pm, not 8. Needless to say, when we showed up at 645 pm and there were only 2 stylists and 3 on the wait list, we were greeted by being ignored by the blond gentleman. We had to ask our question twice before he acknowledged our presence. That was the first time this has ever happened since coming here for over a year, so needless to say, I'll make sure I go when the regular ladies around. Worst experience ever!! My son has been going here for awhile, but his hairstylist is no longer there. We let a guy cut it and the man would argue about how short or how we wanted it cut! Long story short.. he messed up my sons hair really bad.... so uneven. The shit that pissed me off the most is he argued with me saying my sons hair was wavy .... um no my sons hair is straight. Then he takes about it to other customers laughing. Seriously offer to try and fix it first... as I was walking out he said he could try to straighten it out but it's seriously bad. long, long time customer but thier customer service has gotten to be awful. today was last straw. checked in online and i was there on time... still ended up waiting. about ready to be seated for my cut and some guy walks in who had checked in online before me and he had to be at least 10minutes late given how long i had been waiting. they bumped me and seated him. i complained but they couldnt care less. i wont ever be back. read more

Great Clips is cheap....and TERRIBLE. Every once in a while you might get a somewhat OK haircut by one the "hair stylists" but about 90% of the time you will NOT. My worst experience here was with a lady named Rosario. Stay away from her! She cuts your hair like you're a sheep. Choppy, uneven, in my case also too short. There is no method to her madness. I actually came home and cried!! I was never so upset over a hair cut but now I'm even embarrassed to go to work tomorrow. I called and complained to the manager afterwards and he offered to fix it but no way in hell I'm going back there. read more

I love the people in here a especially Nancy. Eddy is a great guy who is mentioned in some of the reviews, but he's over in Del Monte Center these days. I used the online checkin today and ended up not getting a haircut. Around 1:55 the checkin said 24 minute wait. Since I had an appointment in another part of town at 3 PM, I figured it would work. When the time got down to 14 minutes I left the house. I showed up before 2:20 and was 3rd on the list behind another online checkin and a walk-in. There were three in the chairs and a fourth employee walked in. It looked good. At 2:50 I was about to be called and I left. Another online checkin behind me also left. One of the employees went home and another one went on lunch break around 2:30 and we were down to 2. There were three employees wandering around doing things other than cutting hair between 2:20 and 2:30. They took the two in front of me to chairs around 2:30 and my expected call at 2:20 looked like it was about ready to happen around 2:50, but the one available cutter was walking to the back of the shop when I left. Bottom Line: online checkin doesn't work or, at least, it didn't work today. Go by the shop when there are only two or three people waiting if you have an hour or so and if any of the cutters seem like they love the back of the shop more than the front just leave! I have been getting my haircuts in here for quite a few years, but it's not so cheap anymore because they hardly ever send out coupons these days which is why I ended up there. I tip the hair cutter every time generously, and I get this...sheesh. read more

Mark is an outstanding stylist! It's refreshing to see the care he puts into his work. He is extremely knowledgeable and explains in detail what he is doing. For him, hair styling is an art and a science. It's nice to see a stylist take their time and not be concerned about rushing in order to meet a quota. I am the type type of customer who doesn't care who cuts my hair, but that has changed. I will always request Mark and wait until the next day if he's not available. Finding a stylist who knows how to cut men's hair expertly isn't easy. So happy I found Mark at Great Clips! I showed him photos of the style I wanted and he matched it EXACTLY. He's better than most of the high priced stylists I went to when I lived in NYC. Mark's the best, and at Great Clips prices you can see him more often for a touch up cut! Set up your appointment in advance, and ask for Mark. He'll probably be busy if you just walk in. read more

Mark gets 5 stars for his service. He has been cutting my hair (or the little that's left of it after all these years!) for a few months now and has been doing a great job. He listened to my initial request for the hair to be tapered and has continued to provide excellent service since. He shows fine attention to detail and may take a little longer than the typical quick cut salon offers but its well worth the time spent. Highly recommend. My only complaint with the shop, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that they almost never answer the phone any more when I try to find out if Mark is working. In the "old days" one of the stylists would always pick up the phone. A positive: being able to sign in on-line and assess the wait time. read more

I came into Monterey for the weekend with the worst head of hair I've ever donned in my life, so I went to Great Clips early Saturday morning to make me presentable for the fete I was to attend later that night. Mark Beecher created me then proceeded to give me the best treatment I've experienced in decades. At the end of my delightful time the person looking back at me in the mirror was ten years younger with a hip coif that looked to be a work of art. Don't use Lucy for your hair cut. She does a sloppy job. I asked for layers and they were uneven. She also didn't listen to me about the length. If you do go to this location ask for Nancy. She does a good job. read more
