None of the space is wasted with waterfalls or products we don't need. Parking available on the street or in a small lot next to the building. Been going here for about a year. About 5 out of 6 haircuts I get are good ones. Every once in a while, I get one I'm not happy with. Theyre not really artists here but here but they do a decent job and the price is reasonable. It can get crowded sometimes so there's a reason for that. My only real issue with scissor shack is cleanliness. The place is actually kind of gross. There's hair everywhere. And I mean everywhere! They really need to shut down for a day and just do a deep cleaning of the entire space. read more

Went for a haircut for my toddler and called them ahead of coming in to insure they were able to work on toddlers. My child sits very well for haircuts and moves minimally. I showed the woman a picture of what we wanted and she decided to not follow it at all. She actually didn't follow any hair cutting guidelines whatsoever. There was no blending, layers are blunt and uneven. She cut the hair twice as short as the picture showed and both the front and back come to a point. We were completely covered in hair because the cape kept sliding off and then she would pick up my little one to turn them and sit them back down on piles of hair. On top of it all she nicked them on the neck multiple times!! Worst haircut ever. read more

This review is strictly based on men's haircuts. I left this place feeling like WTF. Such a half assed cut, the lady rushed through, did not cut the sides evenly. One was way longer than the other, also went from super short to super long, no blend at all. Maybe they are only good for scissor cuts, or if you get a solid number all around your head. I had been once before, and had a better experience, which was better than this time, but still way under the normal barbershop. Zero vibe at all, one of the chairs is directly in the sun, no fan or a/c in there. Would rather pay double the money than get the haircut I got for $24. This women are wonderful. They remember you and are kind and consistently give you a good 'do at a descent price. They also do facial waxing. The only thing I have a problem with is that they cut my hair, including my bangs, too short. It's hard to get that communicated right with a hairdresser. But they're my #1 choice still. If you're a man, it's a no brained. Even as a women, you will look much more presentable and wonder why you waited so long. Just be specific about how much you want cut. They're nice. I came here the other day and just left unimpressed with my $48 total for a trim. Pros: I was a walk-in and they helped me after about 15 minutes. It was Tuesday morning shortly after they opened so this might not be the norm. I had not had a haircut in 10 months and just wanted things trimmed up. Cons: I know $40 for a trim is standard for long hair but I felt like the salon was too old and run down. The atmosphere was adult and I'd expect a bit more upkeep with that price. She didn't really listen to how I usually part my hair to the side so it looked a bit off. I also didn't feel like my hair felt better. You know that feeling of how good it is after a cut? Honestly I hate saying anything negative because they seem like nice people but the guy rushed through my hair cut and now I feel like I need to got a legit barber to fix my hair. My side burns and my hair line are uneven and looks horrible. He honestly just looked like he was he had no formal training. I was able to book an appointment the next day, even though it appears that walk-ins are always welcome and done quickly as well. Kim is the nice lady who did my hair. Phung did a great job on my long thick hair. I'm very picky when it comes to hair dressers because I always want to trim my hair without getting it cut too short. I told her I wanted to keep it long, just trim it enough to cut off my dead ends & some layers to add volume & that's exactly what she did! Definitely will go to her again. I also recommend Kelly she never disappoints me either and knows to cut my hair w/ layers and without cutting it too short. For men's and boys cuts, the shack is the best price in the area for a good quick cut. I'm in my 30's and get a gentleman's cut and it's always clean. Not a fan of paying $40 to $50 before tip for a slower lesser cut at the shops in PG and Monterey. I've had my hair cut here by every stylist, all equally clean and fast. Sometimes I'm in and out in 15min flat, they do women's styles as well which can cause a longer wait time but they get through lines quick. Always friendly, I drive from PG, and bring my 8yr old son. Scissor shack gives a quality cut. I am definitely happy with the speed and quality of my fade, my barber understood and accomplished what I requested. At a solid price of $14 there simply are no complains about the cut itself. Scissor shack does not appear to be the cleanest however and that is honestly where I find this place not to be 5 out of 5. Hair from the previous customer was not only on spread out all over the ground around my chair... it was also covering her equipment. And I mean statically covering the entirety of the trimmers. Kind of offputting. Station was also messy and covered with multiple people's hair. Sanitation is a concern, whether or not they barbacide/sanitize their equipment -especially their scissors - kind of makes me nervous to return. But man I got a good hair cut, and it is very conveniently located.. so I will probably continue to give them my business. read more

Great little place to get a haircut. 3 ladies usually here cutting hair, one is the owner. Moderate prices. They are good, highly rated, so you will probably end up waiting unless you make an appointment. In fact, I don't see any particular one of the ladies, they are all good. The only downside is that they have no wireless Internet. Update: Wrote the above while I was sitting with the tint on my hair...about the 4th time I have been here. I decided to have Kathy tint my hair, too, to save myself a little time since I usually do this myself. Sorry to say it turned out poorly; she fit me into her schedule and cut two other peoples hair while I sat with the tint on my head. It ended up way too dark, eyebrows are obviously tinted, dye marks on my ears. OK, lesson learned. Good place for a cut, but guys, if you tint be wary. read more

The ladies are all friendly and acknowledge you the minute you step in the door. Kim has great skill and does a great job. She takes the time to listen, address questions and explain. However, I was able to see the haircuts done by the other employees and they all seemed to be amazing at their work.
