The stylists are friendly, efficient, and always do a great job. I especially appreciate the eyebrow trim--they always get it just right. The shop itself is bright, well‑lit, and comfortable. There's always 70s and 80s music playing at a pleasant volume, which gives the place a relaxed, familiar vibe. One moment that really stood out was when I mentioned I was feeling a bit sweaty; the stylist immediately lowered the temperature without hesitation. That kind of attentiveness goes a long way. If I have any beef at all, it's the wait time. Even when I check in ahead of arrival, I've occasionally had to still wait up to 40 minutes before getting into the chair. It's pretty unusual though, but it does happen. Overall, though, Great Clips continues to be reliable, friendly, and consistently good--solidly 4 out of 5 stars. read more

I had come previously with good experiences, but this time was NOT it. I had given the lady a reference photo of what I had wanted. This is the same photo I had shown them previously. It was a very layered and wispy haircut in the photo. The first thing she does is start off with my bangs. In the reference photo, the bangs were long. And she cuts them right above my eyebrows without even asking. They're also super uneven. She keeps cutting random layers with very blunt cuts. I was too shocked to say anything and I didn't want to cause a scene, so I paid and left and cried when I got home. My hair looks like I had an emergency lice haircut. My first HAIRCUT NIGHTMARE! Yesterday I went in to this location to get a haircut. I've been wanting a change and had a style in mind. I checked in and was greeted by my hair stylist who had a very heavy accent and name started with a T ( I believe). She sat me in her chair and asked me what we were going to do today. I showed her multiple photos of the hair cut and style I wanted. She then asked if I wanted the length of my hair to be below my shoulders. I said yes. She even grabbed her scissors and cut off one strand of hair to measure where I wanted it. Once she started cutting, I could see more and more length come off. She kept saying how beautiful my bangs were and I think that was a distraction from the fact she was cutting it shorter and shorter. Once she was completed and took off my apron, I saw the haircut horror. It looks NOTHING like the photo I brought in and showed her, and the length of my hair is ABOVE my shoulders. I literally cried when I got home. Still debating if I am going to call the store to complain and get a full refund. WOULD NEVER GO HERE AGAIN read more

My husband went into the Great Clips in Thousand Oaks on Avenida de los Arnold's, on June 9th. When he came home this is what I saw. The stylist never told him she made a mistake and when we complained we heard absolutely nothing from them. Don't go to this location! ***************update************** I just wanted to amend my review to say that once this issue was brought to the shop owners attention it was quickly resolved. I really appreciate her attention to the matter and she did fully refund my husband for his haircut and he intends to go back to the shop. read more

Melissa is an amazing stylist! Right away she assessed what my needs were in order to give me the perfect haircut. Super friendly attitude and great customer service. She made sure everything was perfect and to my satisfaction before I left the seat. She offered additional services before I had to ask for them. She's saving her money to go on a trip to help indigenous people, so I applaud her on her humanity as well as her hair cutting skills! I went in there this evening, Sunday July 7th less than half an hour before closing. I was greeted by two very friendly and knowledgeable young ladies who were very friendly and helped get us started as we never had the pleasure to be at one of your salons. My grandson knew exactly what he wanted, I was not so sure. I was helped by Melissa who was very talented in recognizing what kind of cut I needed and probably the first hair dresser that didn't part my hair on the side! She did an amazing job and made me feel very comfortable comfortable even though I don't like going in late to a place of business before closing. I never got the impression that we were being rushed or hurried out the door because we got there late! Au contrair, Melissa did a great job as did her partner on my grandson! As if that wasn't enough after I thanked them and me and my grandson were walking to the car Melissa ran out with receipts for us for credit on our next visit! I called the other one in Newbury horrible customer service so I tried this one in thousand oaks and I am soo happy I did sylvia is my new stylist and has kept me a great clips customer she did by far the best cut on me that I was simply amazed at how talented she is and deserves recognition so I hope you great clips as a company please do that! I take my teenage son there. He has curly hair, so when it grows out it looks poofy. He likes the women that work there, because they listen to his instructions on how short he likes his hair. They recommended a leave in conditioner they sell and it makes styling his curly hair much easier. I am a 50+ guy and I've just had the WORST hair cut of my life! Not tapered at all. Sheared like a sheep. Went 1/4 inch plus above my ears. Looks like it was cut while I was sleeping or the stylist was sleeping. Recently the assistant manager called me and made a sincere apology. She said she would leave a discount coupon at the desk and would personally cut my hair. I have not dont that yet, but they do seem willing to make the customer happy. I'll try again! Walked in, no one in line. The two stylists there looked at me like an unwelcome guest. Ignored me for 5 minutes. Then, one steps up to the computer and says "You been here before". I say no, she hands me a pile of papers to fill out my info. I give my name and number. She walks away. The other stylist finishes with her client. Goes to the computer, totally ignoring me, and continues to do something on the computer for over 10 minutes. The whole time, ignoring me. I walked out. NO way will I go back. They barely speak English and have horrible customer service. I can go somewhere else for 5-10 more dollars and get great customer service....and I will. read more

Honestly the worst hair cut experinece ive ever had in my life. i would give less then a star if possible. At the end of my haircut i contemplated refusing to pay(because now i have to shave my head) but just didnt want the potential hassle over 15 bucks this was my first time at "great clips" i came in for a fade and this lady literally tried to finish only 6 minutes and left me with uneven patches all over the sides of my head( and ended up just making it worse at the end). Dont know what her name but she had short hair blonde hair. I came in towards the end of the day(was the only customer there at the time) and it was obvious she wanted to finish as quickly as possible to go home early. Not only did she not bother wetting my hair at any point, but she buzzed the sides of head like she was in a race and even tried to finish up before blending the sides of my head too(which is the reason i go to a professional to cut my hair). She made the excuse she didnt want to use scissors because my hair was too short(which was a lie ive had scissors used to cut my hair at that length every time i get a haircut) because she didnt want to spend the time. i honestly thought she was joking when she said she was finished because my hair looked so uneven. When i told her it looked a little uneven and longer in certain spots, she turned very defensive and argumentative and told me i got what i asked for even though my hair was clearly uneven. She threw down the clipper in anger and picked up the scissors. When i thought was gonna finally use the scissors to trim the top of my head like every other place ive been too, she started angrily butchering my hair MAKING IT WORSE out of frustration instead. she started cutting into my hairline and left a ****** bald spot on the side of the front side of my head and then started AIMLESSLY AND CARELESSLY cutting random spots before i had to literally get up from of the chair and make her stop but it was too late she managed to make my hair worse then before. Lucky for me im a guy and keep my hair always pretty short and it grows pretty quick but im more frustrated i had to go home and shave my head just to make it even. She should NOT be cutting hair. I dont think you will find more careless hairdresser in the country. Unprofessional would honestly be an understatement. I dont normally write reviews but i felt compelled to warn other people about this lady so she doesn't butcher anyone elses hair out of anger again. read more

It's a truly no frills place. I put my name on the list online and headed over there, when I put my name down, it said the wait time was 0 minutes. In reality I waited maybe 5 minutes, which is not bad at all. The place was brightly lit and clean. Wendy (I think that is her name) helped me decide what to do with my hair and did a great job. Sooooo...shouldn't the sign have been turned off, and the door locked? And if you're going to close at 6:55pm, perhaps have a sign that says: "last customer accepted at 6:30 or 6:45?" Just sayin'. I have to say I will be coming here as my primary salon! Soraya was the one that did my haircut and full color and let me tell you she did an amazing job! She hears to what style you want your hair and does exactly the way you want it. What I also like about her is that she doesn't over cut your hair she does what exactly trimming means! I use to hate it when hair dressers would cut in such exaggeration! Everyone was very nice at the salon as well. I would and have referred to a friend! This is my second bad experience in a row and both went the exact same way. I checked in using the app and showed up 10 min later. None of the workers seemed to notice or care that I was there. Not even an acknowledgement that they saw me come in. Then I proceeded to watch as one stylist cut hair, while the other two just tried to figure out how to use their own POS system. When I consistently see 1 out of 3 employees serving a customer while the other two mindlesslessly try to figure out a cash register that they obviously don't understand, all the while completely ignoring the existence of the customer who just walked in, I say forget this place and get your hair cut somewhere else. Incidentally, these are the same employees that have been visually described in other reviews. Two middle-aged women, one with short bleached hair and one dyed some type of brunette. There are at least two competitors in the same shopping center and while they give an equivalent haircut, they do not have the Great Clips blind employee leading the blind employee mentality. I just had the priviledge of getting the opportunity that not very many people are even remotely fortunate enough to experience. You are probably wondering what I am referring to and I can't wait to tell you! When I walked into Great Clips located in Thousand Oaks off of Avenida De Los Arboles, I was immediately greeted by a pleasant, charming, and extremely professional blonde woman by the name of Kelly. Being a first time client, I have to be honest; I was a bit apprehensive about my decision to switch from Fantastic Sams as I was quickly about to willingly hand over my trust and complete confidence to Kelly here who was promptly ready with a smile to take me back and get started. No more than thirty seconds into the haircut, I felt completely calm and comfortable enough to close my eyes as Kelly efficiently and strategically went to work. Every single day, I can honestly confess that my hair can either make or completely ruin at least half of my wardrobe if it is not cut and styled properly. In other words, my hair is extremely important to me because it defines seventy percent of my immediate appearance and reflects directly into my level of confidence. I have no problem being direct and blatantly honest so by openly revealing this fact to most of the people who know me, you can rapidly discover that there is no mystery accompanied with the fact that my hair and everything in my life that corresponds with my hair is extremely important to me(along with the fact that many will explain that I have completely lost my MIND) When I discussed this with Kelly, she politely stopped working, looked at me making direct eye contact with the look of solid concern and confidence in her eyes that immediately reassured and reminded me that I was talking to a dedicated professional who was able to put my mind at ease by her ability to identify exactly what my troubled mind was attempting to explain. And it was then that I shut my mouth and my eyes as I sat comfortably letting Kelly perform her magic. Concluding the haircut, I can honestly say that it was indeed Magic that Kelly demonstrated during the many "Great Clips" she delivered with ease, always checking to make sure that I was comfortable and satisfied every step of the way as she carefully finished up her masterpiece. With a healthy tip off the top for Kelly who was extremely precise, truly professional and unbelievably talented, I would without a doubt reccommend Great Clips to everyone in my family and all my close friends. I hope that everyone gets a chance to treat themselves to the wonderful experience that I was fortunate enough to have yesterday at Great Clips. This place is absolutely terrible. My fiancé and I came in to try something new and he just wanted a small trim! She practically made him bald, I could see his scalp. He had a lot of hair too and told her not to cut it short and she did anyways. The haircut was super cheap so that should have been a hint to us in the first place. It was right before the holidays as well! We gave no tip and he was so upset. It took his hair about 2 months to grow back after what she did. She had it long in the front and so short in the back. I would never recommend this place to anyone! Do not waste your time. read more

My husband and I took my mother in-law to this location yesterday to get her LONG hair cut very short because she was to start chemo therapy in a few days and would be losing her hair. We needed it cut a special way so we could mail it off and have a wig made out of her own hair. We were assigned Dora as the person that would be cutting her hair. That was a big mistake. When we tried explaining to Dora how the hair needed to be cut and preserved to get the most out of it to make a wig, she did not want to do it the way we requested. She wanted to do it her way, by just taking two big cuts and throwing it in a bag. Before we could even agree or disagree, she starts cutting and throwing the hair in a bag without a rubber band on it. Just a pile of hair. This really upset us and we ask her to stop. We tried explaining again and some of her co-worker started joining in as they could see we were upset. Some of Dora's rude comments to her co-workers were...."well do you want to do it, because I am not going to waste my time putting her hair in little rubber bands." The arguing between them caused my mother in-law and I to start crying as this is a very sensitive situation to her as well as myself, as I am a cancer survivor and I know how hard this is. This is a VERY sensitive issue and Dora's unprofessional, rude, insensitive behavior was completely uncalled for. I finally said let's just go somewhere else. I was just about to yank my mother in-law out of the chair, when Stephanie and Alicia stepped in with compassion! They both were already clocked out for the day and on their way out the door, when Alicia volunteered to take the haircut and do it the way we needed. Stephanie stayed and helped her. They both put us at ease with the situation and profusely apologized for Dora's behavior. Alicia cut her hair wonderfully and Stephanie was a great help! They both put her at ease with this terrible situation. As the tears went down my mother in-laws face while her long hair was being cut off, she felt better in their hands. They even waived the charge for the cut. Thank you guys, we are grateful for your compassion and heart you had in this situation. I hope Dora realizes how insensitive she was!
