Where to begin? I made the mistake of going to someone who bleached my hair super blonde in Nov, went home to try to fix it in Jan, but knew would need additional appointments to fix the damage. Then I got pregnant so my ob had me wait for highlights and correction till second trimester and then with pregnancy brain I forgot until I realized my roots had grown about 4 inches, I was looking really two toned and my baby shower was the upcoming week- que frantic search for a stylist nearby who could fit me in on short notice, understand that I definitely prefer to be honey blonde and who could use coloring that was safe during pregnancy. I stumbled upon swanky salon via yelp and couldn't be more thrilled with my experience and Ali-Marie. Let me tell you, she is a professional and it shows. Not only does she have 10+ years of experience but she is an educator and knows what she is talking about. She took the time to talk with me about what happened and look at multiple pictures showing what happened, how it started to get fixed and also the way I wanted it to go back to looking. Patience is a virtue but then to also be able to look at these photos and hear me and make it back to my reality is icing on the cake! I have a thick head of hair and I know the two tone was not easy to correct but seriously I walked out feeling amazing and woke up this morning feeling like myself and looking again like myself! All just in time for our shower this weekend! The several hours it took was totally worth it, she was so much fun to talk to as well. Just highly recommend Ali-Marie for your coloring needs. She did a blend of highlights and lowlights and just captured exactly what I wanted. Pricing was reasonable, you get what you pay for and the 10% new customer discount was appreciated. My review needs to be split into two parts, making for an average 4 star review. Stylist (Megan): 5 stars Let me begin with Megan - she is AMAZING. I have now been to her three times; two times for a cut, one time for color. I have naturally curly hair and she gave me the best cut for curly hair I've ever received. She doesn't force you to go outside your comfort zone and takes her time make sure your hair is just as you'd like. The first cut she did for me was a solid trim and the second a solid cut (a bit more brazen) and she really encouraged me to not go too crazy which I so appreciate. The girl knows her stuff! I most recently had her do some color for me (trying to hide grays without doing a full color) and she was cautious again to not go too wild and do highlights that would give me yellow streaks (as I've unfortunately experienced this in the past elsewhere) but rather something more natural (see photos). The color certainly came out natural, but my singular complaint would be that it was perhaps a bit too natural to where it doesn't pop and not necessarily noticeable (see photos). Regardless, it still helps the grays and will be fine until the next time I decide to brave doing some color. Overall, I am so happy with Megan and will continue to return for her hilarious stories and wonderful skills. Reception/Client Care: 3 stars The only reason for the less than five star review would be the scheduling issues I have had. Each time I've been scheduled with Megan I've either been asked to come late, reschedule or had to sit and wait for upwards of 30 minutes. As I've told the girls, I'm flexible and understand and am far happier to wait knowing she's not rushing someone for my sake - the fact that she won't rush a client is an asset to me. The problem comes, however with my latest visit getting my color done. First, I asked how much to expect all over highlights to be and was quoted an incorrect price ($160 rather than $190, as they didn't include the toner). Not major at all, but a minor issue that compounds on others. Second, I have never been to a salon that needed you to schedule to have your hair blown out after a color - how can I see whether I am happy with the color if my hair is wet? I was further never asked if I needed it dried when I made the appointment - I didn't even know this was something to need to ask for. So imagine my surprise when after sitting with Megan for two hours getting my color done, the receptionist comes and tell us that there is another client waiting (who was fifteen minutes early for her appointment) and Megan tells me I have to leave with wet hair because the girls didn't schedule me for a blow out? One, it takes ten minutes to blow out my hair to see if the color is how I'd like it; two, if I have had to wait so long before with no complaint is it too unreasonable for someone who is EARLY to wait a bit longer? and; three, I find it incredibly off-putting that I had to leave with dripping wet hair, change my schedule to go home and dry my hair (and now wet clothing), just to discover that indeed the color wasn't even as I'd hoped, something that perhaps could have been adjusted on the spot had I not been rushed out. I don't know where the fault lies - maybe it's to do with the holidays - and like I said I will absolutely be back, but the lesson I've learned is to be fully on top of the reception girls and make sure they are scheduling you for the right things and understand the time your service will take so they schedule others accordingly. I say all this more as constructive feedback and advice to future clients than as criticism. I would still wholly recommend Megan and Swanky. read more

So we've had those diy haircuts at home that didn't turn out the way we wanted. So I had one of these disasters and needed a fix right away. I was booked with Leanna on the weekend and drove there early since I was so excited to get my hair fixed. I love how she Leanna say me down and fully examined my hair and asked me exactly what I wanted. Long? Short? Layers? Etc. my hair was in very choppy layers and I just wanted everything smoothed out while saving the length. I don't trust anyone with my hair but Caitlin and that's why I keep following her from salon to salon! Today she spent about 4 1/2 hours trying to get the ash color that would look best on me. I will post a picture as well. The last time I saw her was about seven months ago when she had spent probably a total of eight hours trying to get me the perfect blonde that I wanted. The best haircut I ever got was from her and she is so good at styling. The great thing about Caitlin is that she is really laid-back and you feel really comfortable around her. She is the kind of hairstylist that won't just do what you tell her to. She'll really listen but make sure that it's a look that won't damage your hair and that will match with your skin tone. Came in last month to get an inquiry on getting this virgin head of hair colored SILVER ombre. I was assigned the amazing Madison as my colorist for this hair journey. Safe to say that was the start of an awesome experience! Madison went through the whole process very thoroughly with me. I thought I could just walk in and get my hair silver that same day, glad I was advised not to! We did a FREE strand test to really see how my hair reacts to the bleach and in a few hours this guy had a patch of platinum blonde hair on his head. Madison is attentive AF. Checked in periodically to make sure I was doing great and didn't seem like she was picking up other clients while I was waiting for the bleach to kick in. Like seriously? This strand test was free, go out there and grab some paying clients! Anyways, after the strand test it solidified my want to get my hair done even more so we scheduled for a day two weeks from then to get this thing going! She put aside a Sunday for me since I'm busy the rest of the week, which is awesome because the Salon is actually 'closed' on Sundays. So another 5 stars for that Madison! The process took about 4-5 hours total with Bleaching + Toning and wheeeeew. LOVE MY HAIR! The hair was done right on time for a couple back to back trips and I'm finally home and ready to lay down this review. I've followed my hair stylist Leeanne for over 10 years to this cute spot! Leeanne is a cool chick and I dig the way she cuts my hair. I've referred her to a lot of friends and family that have also remained loyal to her scissors. After and awesome shampoo and condition she works her magic on my locs. My hair grows fast, it's straight, wavy at the ends and I have a lot of it. I usually wear it long and she uses a Japanese technique and scissor to create layers that shape my face and head nicely, always a comfy do ;) Like most salons they to are closed on Sundays.
