I wear glasses so couldn't see a thing during the cut. 15 minutes later, she brought out a mirror, let me put on my glasses, and there are multiple clear BALD spots on the back of my head. I confronted her about it, she first denies it. I then take a picture and confronted her with the picture, she has the balls to say it's because of the way hair grows. I told her this is ridiculous, she just said, what do you want me to do then. If you ever consider a cut here, spend the money in a CVS for a pair of scissors and cut it yourself - and that's for sure gonna be better that what's she's gonna do to your hair.

That price includes her washing your hair afterward which my car has been very thankful for, and the gel which only seems to make me more self-conscious. It's usually not too busy, but she does accept appointments. Otherwise, you could visit Han Kabob, Map of Thailand, or Koko Bakery next door while waiting. She is efficient, but does take the time to do it right and make sure you're happy. During which, expect to engage in a conversation about her life (which really is quite interesting) and listen to her lament that the referral of customers from her establishment to the restaurants nearby is only one-way. I had Angie the owner. I asked for long layer cut to land just slightly above my shoulders when dry. I brought pictures and discussed how I wanted the wavy look in the pictures. I have had this cut before with another salon (further away and way more $$) and it came out great. What I got was an uneven cut that lands 2in above the shoulder. Except for the uneven pieces that frame my face. I told her I scrunch my hair and barely use a hair drier. Angie said I should invest in a flat iron. She even put straightener in my hair. So right there I think her intent was for me to style my hair straight. NOT a good look on me. My sisters and friends that have seen it have been upfront with me. All were pretty sure I was exaggerating until they saw it. NO one likes it. My one friend couldn't stop staring and saying "WOW". But not in a good way. Some extra items to note: 1) Once she set to cutting my hair she launched into her sales pitch of services and cost. On and on and on...I could ignore it because it was kind of comical. 2) I did notice as I paid with cash, that they charge a percentage for credit card use. AND new customers are to give them a credit card to keep on file. I presume so they can charge customers their cancellation fee. No way would I leave a card on file at some little unsecure hair salon. I have wedding and graduation parties to attend. What am I suppose to do with f* up hair? Yes a bad hair cut can ruin many days/weeks/months until your hair grows out. Hope you never have to find that out for yourselves.

She used no heat protectant, tried to straighten my hair while it was still wet, and then had the nerve to say I "didn't know how to do my own hair." The ignorance was unreal. Let's be honest, this place is not welcoming to Black clients. It's full of narrow-minded, untrained stylists who clearly have no respect or understanding for textured hair. The whole experience reeked of microaggressions and subtle racism. Save yourself the time, money, and disrespect. This salon needs more than training, it needs a reality check.

Also did not appreciate my head being pulled in two different directions. Was not happy with my style, braids went in three different directions because three different people worked on my hair... Maria goes back and forth splitting her attention from one customer to the next. She will stop mid cut to go color another customers hair. She does not listen to what you want, she gets an idea in her head of what haircut you should have and does what she wants without even consulting you. I wanted a simple bob and I almost ended up with a pixie. My hair is uneven and sticking up at funny angles in the back which will take months to grow out. Maria is not only inconsiderate but she is also incompetent. If your hair is textured and you want someone to accommodate your needs do not get your haircut at this salon.
