Emily and Justin have cared for my dogs since 2017 - and I wouldn't trust my animals with anyone else. The best!

At that time the kennel told us that one of our two dogs that would be staying there was not fully vaccinated for boarding based in the information that the kennel had at the time. We questioned that because we know when we take our dogs to be vaccinated and said we would confirm with our Vet. Not sure why the kennel thought that one of the dogs was not boarding ready, as the kennel was wrong. I contacted our Vet who sent all the records to us to share with the kennel showing that our dogs have been updated since the early part of this year when we made the reservation. We sent the records to the kennel and they wrote back to us that "they did not hear back from us" so they took us off of the reservation for our two dogs. Are you kidding me? A couple of very poor management decisions going on here: 1. Even if one of our two dogs was not vaccinated, they chose to take both dogs off the reservation. Bad decision #1. 2. They never informed us that there was a 'required response' or deadline for such before they remove our reservation or that they were actually expecting to hear back from us (which we actually did get beck to them with the records showing the dogs were fully vaccinated). Bad decision #2. 3. Their record keeping is wrong because both dogs were fully vaccinated at the time we made the original reservation All of this done within a week of our planned vacation. Thanks a bunch for the poor experience. I guess we made a bad decision too by planning to use this kennel.

Multiple times we arrived at 11:10 and the charge remained at $45 and this year they increased rate by $5,00 but the past 2 stays depending who is at front desk.,1st past visit I got there at 11:15 due to road construction. On picking up my dog I was told it would be an extra $50 with the explanation that a new policy is in place so for arriving at 11:10 I had to pay $100 vs $50. In the past multiple pickups if I was a few minutes late the person at the desk said will just charge the rate; sometimes $45 and this year $50., This most recent visit the gent owner was there alone on a Sunday I had called on my cell earlier at 10:50 and advised Nicole an employee at the desk that I am on my way but might be a few minutes late. She immediately stated, " we have a new policy on Sundays where you can pick up just on Sunday between 3-5" She went on to say you can leave your dog but pickup is 3-5 instead of 11. I thanked her for that info and she went on to say well Sunday only is in effect as the owners did that to give owners being a Sunday a bit more time. Never a single word on any extra charge. I arrived at exactly 5PM the gentleman said you're picking up your dog and I said yes. He pulled out the paper and then said it will be $100. I politely asked why $100 my dog was here one day. I originally asked Nicole for 2 days to pick up Monday but she checked out back with someone but we can only give you one night. I agreed. That being said I advised the gent that Nicole indicated the new Policy allowed to pick up the Dog between three and five only on Sunday. Immediately he went on the defensive about the price and I asked him would you please bring Nicole out here so we can discuss this as I was told the new Policy I could pick the dog up by five. There was no discussion about an extra charge. He went back he left. He came back a few minutes later and he said you owe 100. I said I was quoted. I could pick the dog up by five. It's two minutes of five. I'm not paying 100. I was quoted a new policy, allowed me to pick up the dog by five, which I am doing. He's did not bring Nicole out so we can get to the bottom of what she said to me 6 hours earlier. He is now calling me a liar which I will not accept and as an owner he became ill mannered and said "don't raise your voice to me" I want to speak with Nicole.,it fell on deaf ears. As I have heard in the past, if you don't pay, you're not going to get your dog I paid him $100.. then I asked for my dogs food and leash as he did not come out from out back with my dogs food or collar or leash. He also did not return with a little boy who was there. I decided this is about to escalate as his face turned to anger. He basically called me a liar and I only needed him to bring Nicole out to the counter so he can ask her in front of me: "What did you tell this gentleman" she would not lie I advised we will no longer use Derbyfield ever again for these inconsistent pricing discretions depending on who's on the front desk. I do not leave reviews but this owner or whoever he is deserves this negative review., certainly the only time as many times as I brought there the first time I ever saw him maybe he was a part-time employee work Sundays only I don't know. He certainly didn't remind me of an owner the way I was treated. That is not the end of this overnight stay., upon returning home with my Labrador my Labrador came in the house, didn't drink. One bowl drank two bowls of water and we've owned this dog for three years. She has never done that ever. This tells me that Dog had no water since 11 o'clock this morning additionally, our dog was walking outside around his play area, trying to go potty and she couldn't go she just was walking around with her back humped up. She finally did go, but it was like diarrhea, so that's another reason we would never nor would we ever recommend Derby Field kennel to anyone. I believe my dog was just in a small crate for four or five hours until I pick the dog up at 5 o'clock., we saved the stall and will bring it to our vet in the morning. There was clear directions on her big feeding container one and a half cups in the morning, one and a half cups in the evening absolutely no treats we will find out what was in her stomach to see this dog, stooping around, dragging her hind quarter trying to go potty for as long as she did tells me something may be wrong. We're going to find out.

First and foremost Karen…read morehas a temper, (may be burnt out from her work) and takes her anger and frustration out on your pet as evidence appeared on my 18lb Bichon . She puts on a pleasant attitude and face while with you but I think she may be a little "Jekyl and Hyde" behind the scenes. My first concern was when I witnessed Karen carrying my dog Cotton cradled in her left arm to the van. The van has 2 or 3 steps like a bus and when Karen was on the second step, assuming I wasn't still watching I guess, she nonchalantly just dropped Cotton, literally just opened her arm and let Cotton fall from a height of about 4 ft without warning onto the uneven steps. Cotton landed on her side and struggled to upright herself with the help of Karen's foot! Why she couldn't bend over just a little bit and just place Cotton onto the floor of the van I don't know. Now, I understand Cottons hair maybe annoying to cut as it's very curly and thick. But we never let it get out of control as we would call Karen every four months to make sure it was never gnarly. I just don't think she had the patience for this kind of hair or as I said she must be burnt out with this kind of work. Later, when my dog came out of the van with her cut finished she looked like a pink piglet. There was hardly any hair left on her body. Just a small amount of white stubble. I was so angry. This was too much. No natural protection from the sun or body heat control which the hair provides . Another more intense and distressing shock came later. The realization of the additional damage of what Karen did during that cut came a couple of hours after when we went for a swim in the bay. Cotton now having wet hair really enhanced the ability to see her skin where I noticed there were full length scrape marks, abrasions, and 1000's of lateral small scabs all over her body caused by either burns of an overheated clipper or just dull clippers. It was obvious by the shape of the markings of the injuries that they could only be caused by the clippers. And just as obvious; combined with what was over aggressive pressure by Karen, it was in evitable to have this outcome of scrape markings and scabs on her tender skin. Finally, in comparison, what is a little less important but still vital info is whenever it came time to scheduling a visit it would always take at least two to three phone calls requesting a cut before she would return your call. Disrespectful and frustrating. I wouldn't give her any stars but apparently yelp requires you to give at least one. Be leery of this temperamental woman with anger issues. I feel so guilty because this was the only person Cotton would start to quiver at at first sight. My dog loves anything with a heartbeat but she did not want to spend any time with Karen at all. I just assumed it was because the haircut was understandably annoying for Cotton but after I saw the injuries I now knew why. What a terrible lesson to learn. I now cut her hair myself and at first she was so frightful of the clippers but after my gentle way of doing it, it only took a couple of cuts for her to realize she didn't have to fear the clippers when I was in charge of them. I think it may be time for Karen to retire. Or attend anger management classes. To take out your frustrations on an innocent pet is inconceivable and unconscionable. There is never an excuse for that behavior. Do your pet a tremendous favor and stay away from Buttons N Bows mobile pet grooming and choose someone else. But do your research and check out their history!!

I wish I could say the same for the last visit, but, unfortunately, I cannot.I will preface this review with my heartfelt uncomfortable regret for having to post a bad review. It's not my style; it's not something I do often or like to do. It upsets me to my core. That being said and with tears in my eyes, let's proceed. I will admit, it was nearly a month after the grooming that I contacted Alison to complain and ask her to fix it. My query was honest but not mean. The delay in contacting her was due to my being ill, and my not knowing what to say to her without hurting her feelings. Well...I've got to tell you I was shocked and appalled by her highly emotional, negative response which continued on as a barrage of nasty texts without my responding to most of it. What she said to me, how she said it and with vehement attitude was so far from any drop of professionalism or good customer service. She reported to me after both groomings that although my cat was skittish, once she started brushing her she calmed down and was a "total sweetheart", "no problem at all". I was happy with the first bathing, sanitary cut and brushout. The second time she went from wrapped in a towel and ran into the bedroom closet! I paid over $100 for what turned out to be a hack job of a grooming. She cut the center of her lower mane off and it just looks weird now. She was supposed to shave down her underside and butt completely. It's all uneven and looks ratty. The rest of her beautiful silky, shiny coat is now dull and when I brush her there are tons of loose clumps of fur that fly all over the place! Her fur is uneven on both sides, there are places that look chopped and she cut around the base of her tail...for what reason?? Not all of her claws were clipped, either! Looks ridiculous! Every time I look at my Tatum I get upset. I finally had to say something! Then she had the audacity to tell me my cat should be drugged. Not once, several times. I don't think it's the cat that needs to be medicated. For the record I sprayed her towel and her carrier with Feliway 10 minutes before she took her to the van. So, she was "drugged" but in a natural way. How dare she tell me to drug my cat!! She outright refused to do anything at all to Tatum or a partial refund or credit and chose to sever our relationship instead. Is this good business sense? I truly think she knew she had done an awful job and was trying to blame me for her lack of grooming knowledge with cats. The old Shakespeare quote, "Me thinks thou doth protest too much" very much applies here. So, I no longer can recommend this groomer in any capacity. She is not to be trusted as she is emotionally volatile, unprofessional and just not nice. Please do yourself a favor and find another groomer. I did!
