In May 2022 we booked our dogs for boarding for a week in August and in early July we moved that week to early September. The kennel was fine with accommodating that change. At that time the kennel told us that one of our two dogs that would be staying there was not fully vaccinated for boarding based in the information that the kennel had at the time. We questioned that because we know when we take our dogs to be vaccinated and said we would confirm with our Vet. Not sure why the kennel thought that one of the dogs was not boarding ready, as the kennel was wrong. I contacted our Vet who sent all the records to us to share with the kennel showing that our dogs have been updated since the early part of this year when we made the reservation. We sent the records to the kennel and they wrote back to us that "they did not hear back from us" so they took us off of the reservation for our two dogs. Are you kidding me? A couple of very poor management decisions going on here: 1. Even if one of our two dogs was not vaccinated, they chose to take both dogs off the reservation. Bad decision #1. 2. They never informed us that there was a 'required response' or deadline for such before they remove our reservation or that they were actually expecting to hear back from us (which we actually did get beck to them with the records showing the dogs were fully vaccinated). Bad decision #2. 3. Their record keeping is wrong because both dogs were fully vaccinated at the time we made the original reservation All of this done within a week of our planned vacation. Thanks a bunch for the poor experience. Or cat chloe stayed for a few days last week when we were in boston . Lake farm staff were exceedingly professional , very nice and willing to work with our schedule. Chloe is not the easiest cat to deal with and they did a great job . A great value ,well worth the money. I highly recommend to anyone looking for animal care read more

Today, I went to Lake Farm Kennels at 8:30am by appt to have my Havanese, Chatham get his hair cut. I arrived on time and left Chatham and was told to pick him up around noontime. I have been to this dog grooming location several times in the past and was reasonably satisfied except for the fact that the dog cannot be left for the hour it takes at any appointed time, in that they do the grooming in stages apparently and they need up to 3-4 hours. Anyways, when I drove back to Lake Farm at noon, I was told that Chatham was not ready and had not been worked on and it was noontime. I asked the groomer herself when she thought she could take care of the grooming and she looked perplexed and said 2pm. I asked when they would close and both women said 5pm and I said that I would have to come back close to 5pm because I had another appointment at 2pm 45 mins away. I drove out of the parking lot and went a half mile and stopped the car and realized that I was no longer the customer but that the roles had switched, and they were telling me how it was going to be and I knew that leaving my dog in their care from 8:30am till 5pm would have been 8 and half hours and it was not fair to Chatham, for something that most groomers would schedule to do in one hour. They did not seem to care. When I arrived back I told the young girl at the front desk that I would take Chatham at that point home and asked for a new appointment due to my conflict scheduling the dog grooming that occurred because they failed to have him ready at noon.I was calm and polite. Then the gal at the desk became rude and bossy and indicated that that would be fine but that I would have to pay for having him washed that morning. I could not believe that they had the gall to ask for a payment for something that was unrelated to what happened and was a problem that they had created against my best interest. It got worse when I said that they were adding insult to injury by billing me for washing the dog... when I did not bring him there to be washed but to be groomed. I told them that I wash him almost weekly anyways and do it without their help. I absolutely refused to pay for a wash for Chatham. The young girl then lied by saying to me that she had never told me the dog would be ready at noon and that when they do give out a time, they write it down and she had nothing written down. I remained calm but firm and said that was poor customer service and a lousy way to do business and that I had no intention of paying for a dog wash unnecessarily when they created the problem. It got worse when the groomer gal went to the rescue of the manager gal and I told them both that they had a lousy attitude and had no clue how to run a business. There was no owner present. Bottom line do not use Lake Farm Kennels of Orleans. They have next to no professional management in place and treated me, the customer like I was a liar when'd I called out the your manager gal about saying that she never said the dog would be ready at noon. I told her either she was a lair or totally failed to do her job, either way it was a pretty pathetic and bad situation. Don't take their guff and pushiness at Lake Farm Kennel. I told them that they lost me as a customer permanently and that Orleans was a small town and word would get around about their poor service. Seems like they forget who the customer is. If you do go there again, I would be careful and not be intimated or pushed around by their arrogant attitude. Let's face it, a professional business would have rescheduled my appointment in a courteous manager and offered a free haircut on the next visit. Not this place. They don't have a clue how to run a business. read more

This a great grooming facility as well as a nice looking boarding kennel. The staff is friendly and really cares about your animals. I brought in my wheaten terrier and they groomed her perfectly for her breed without me having to explain it to them. I will be using them again soon as my dog likes to "be a dog" and gets herself nice and dirty pretty regularly. read more

We love Lake Farm Kennel and so does our Brittany spaniel -- who runs right in, thrilled to be dropped off. It is his second home. We live nearby and he has been boarding there for 12 years, a few days or a couple weeks at a time. Sometimes as many as 5 weeks total, per year. (We travel for work.) This family-run operation is as good as it gets. Friendly, caring, responsible, and clean as a whistle. I can't recommend it enough. read more

My three yr. old, 10 lb. dog goes to the family run Lake Farm Kennels every day during my work week and is treated like a member of the Lake Farm family. "Crackers" is welcomed by the staff with lots of toys, available food and water all the time, a very clean environment and great care. I could not recommend Lake Farm more. read more

I recently had to go out of town for the weekend and on short notice decided to use this location. I dropped by prior to departure to check out the location and met some of the staff but was denied to inspect area where my dog would stay. They showed me one kennel close to the door, and said that was all that they were allowed to show. I asked them why numerous times and never got any real good answers. I left bothered and hoped for the best. I returned the next day, with my dog and requested to inspect where he would be staying for the next few days. They opened the door and pointed to a unit and expressed that I was not allowed to go into the area where the dogs were kept. b/c of excessive barking by other dogs. My frustration & anxiety ran pretty high and they did nothing to assure me of anyting else - For any of you who love their dogs tremendously and only want the best for them, - this place is not for you. They boarded the dog & I'm guessing they did everything such as letting the animal out twice a day, feedings etc. I have no way of knowing, but their attitude was very dissipointing and it seemed they were more intertested in the money than the animal. read more

We boarded our yellow lab here recently for 5 days and cannot say enough good things about our experience as the staff went above and beyond our expectations! We were getting married at a resort close by and wanted Charlie to be a part of our ceremony but didn't want to inconvenience any of our family or guests by asking them to bring him, so the kennel provided drop off and pick up services for us. We also had him fully groomed so he could look his best on our big day and he absolutely did! Check in/out was very smooth and I was also able to visit him anytime I wanted without notice which was great for me to take him for a walk the day before our wedding to help me de-stress by spending some QT with my pup :) read more
