Very horrifying and expensive experience, please see the photos, our dog's left ear is severely bruised/bleeding. (FYI, to the owner's defense: my dog's ear is bleeding because he shakes his ear excessively?? Is that a joke? Shame on you! The vet specifically said his ear was bleeding and bruised due to force, either he scratched his ears or the groomer did it.) Our dog is almost 3 yrs old so we've been to a handful of groomers, we've never had such a negative grooming experience before. He has never had any problem at any groomer. This is the first time he comes back with injuries. We will not return and won't recommend for anyone. We brought our dog here last Friday morning, specifically asked the reception to put a cone on our dog whenever he is done (we brought our cone), because our dog has serious environmental allergies, and he will chew his legs/scratch himself if left unsupervised. The reception staff ensured us they will put the cone on him. Couple hours later, we came back to pick him up, paid $110 (which was very pricy consider he is a 35 Ibs dog, yes he is very fluffy - miniature labradoodle, but he has absolutely no matts and we pay the exact same in Manhattan for everything included, here they don't do anal gland or ear cleanning, so even more pricy than Manhattan!! How is that possible?!). Usually he costs around $80 to groom in Boston (back bay), We thought it would be around Boston price instead of Manhattan, but honestly, price doesn't matter if our dog is beautifully groomed and cared. We didn't check him since he came out with his cone on. However, as soon as we hit the road, I flipped his ears, shocking! His left ear is bruised and bleeding. I immediately got baby wipes to clean the blood, the photos were taken afterwards. (my instinct was to clean the blood, not taking photos). (To compare, you can see his right ear is 100% normal and pink colored.) He was completely fine when we dropped him off. I called the groomer and she says she didn't notice anything wrong with his ears, only his ears were a little red. I asked her why is his ear bleeding now? Did they not put the cone on him? Naturally no one wants to take the blame and responsibility. Three separate people spoke with me and none of them even apologized. They just claimed that they have no idea what went on and no one saw his ears. Either the groomer did this to him (which is unlikely) or they just didn't put his cone on him as they assured us. (Please look at the photos, we left the groomers at 2PM, photos are taken right afterwards) We had to take him to the vet to get some antibiotics and ointments for his ear. The vet technician cleaned both his ears and was surprised that we came from the groomer, considering both his ears are very dirty (aka the groomer didn't clean his ears at all). Anyway, this grooming has became unnecessarily expensive. read more

Heard there was new ownership and decided to take my mini schnauzer for grooming. I am so happy I did. Kerry was amazing, the schnauzer cut is a very labor intensive cut with a lot of close shaving around the ears and face. When I tell you this cut was perfect...I think it is the best groom my little dog has ever had. So much so that I went ahead and booked every 6 weeks out for the entire summer and fall. Can't Thank Kerry enough for taking such great care because my dog can be a little nervous, they became fast friends. She earned his trust. The pricing was comparable to grooming services we have had in the Boston area. So glad to have given this place a try, they have earned my continued business! read more

We just took our dog for a grooming there. They wanted $125 for a 14lb, ShiTzu. Anywhere we had gone previously we did not have to ask to have the ears plucked , glands expressed etc.. Everything was done when the groomer was compedant . I was told the groomers are more expensive on the Cape. There fees are $100 an hour. I guess one is out of luck to find anyone not out to scalp the customers. I decided not to have her done and immediately turned around to pick her up. She was already bathed , I asked them to dry her and I would take her. Pick up time is 3-4 hours later don't know why the long wait. Wish my groomer that I had for years was still available. Never had and issue nor did I have to ask to have anything done. My Mika was always perfect. Pippa received a bath and I can get her groomed when I head back to CT. read more

I had been going here for over a year since I brought my puppy home. All was good previously. However on Saturday I took my pup in for his regular cut and he got a deep cut on the side of his neck. It bled off and on all night. I was told about the cut but was not told hoW bad the cut was. I also has specifically asked for his lashes not to be cut and they were not only chopped off but they are totally uneven. I asked to speak to the owner e Angie and eventually she gave me a 20% discount of the service. I didn't fee this was enough and didn't feel that they took responsibility for the lashes. I was told oh they'll grow back! It was in my file from past visits not to cut his lashes and in addition I reminded them when I dropped him off. In addition to all this, it took them over an hour over the time I was told he would be done. Very dissapointed with how this situation was handled. We won't be going back. read more

We had used Ungerdogs since they were located in Chatham so we are not new customers. I brought my pup in for a regular nail trim, and when he was done -- 5 minutes later -- I was told it was $25 (their nail trim had been around $11 in the past.) I asked why double price, and was told it took two sets of hands because he was nervous. I repeat.... 5 minutes. Next time, Ungerdogs, let the customer know beforehand if you plan to double charge, or warn them for their next visit. Not a good customer experience. read more

Michelle did an amazing job with my very wiggly and anxious pittie mix! He has never smelled more beautiful and she was able to clip his nails. We were "taken" by these people. We called ahead, spoke to the owner or groomer and gave very simple explicit instructions. Then my wife wrote out these exact instructions and I took our 9 month old 70lb Goldendoodle there. We said "not a full grooming, just cut around his eyes where the hair is blocking his vision, trim his nails, and express is glands". I expect them to call me within the hour as I was there when they opened. Three and a half hours later, they call. I walk in and I'm told $125! They did what we asked but then piled on all these other services. They shampooed him, clipped his legs, gave him a blowout, all things that we did not request. I had just shampooed him the day before he did not need to have his skin dried out anymore! These people are oblivious, or they figure once they get your dog, they're going to do whatever they want so they can charge you more. Of course, we'll never go back there, and we're making sure that all of our friends and theirs stay away. read more

This place is wonderful! My Black lab was in desperate need of a good bath and nail trimming so I called Ungerdogs and they were able to fit me in the today. I was really impressed when I walked in because it's really like a doggy salon rather than being a pet store with a grooming station stuck in the back like so many other places. The space is bright and clean with a large area in front which functions as a waiting room. There is also a section of the 'salon' with nice grooming products (shampoos and conditioners). At the front is a desk for check- in and a little gate to bring your pup through which leads to the bathing and main grooming stations. There is a big window you can look through to see some of the dogs being groomed. When I came in, there were two dogs being groomed and they looked happy and relaxed and in capable hands which made me feel good since my boy is so special to me. The staff is very friendly and extremely professional and the owner (Angela) was more than accommodating in addressing my concerns and making sure my boy got everything he needed. When I came to pick him up, he was sitting behind the front desk (in the gated area) just hanging out with the ladies and looking so cute and fluffy and shiny! His nails were trimmed really well (much better than what we could do) and his coat is seriously so fluffy and he smells so good! If you look on their website, you will see that they offer all sorts of cute services and packages. I ended up doing the 'Splash and Dash' which is a bath with ear cleaning but then I ended up adding the nail trimming as well. It does not include a brushing but the owner offered to brush him in the tub after just to remove excess hair after I asked if there was any way they could do that and I really, really appreciated that (I believe the regular service includes more extensive brushing). For $25 for the Splash and Dash and another $10 for the nail clipping the total came to $35 which I think is completely reasonable and absolutely worth it. My parents live here in Chatham and until now I did not have a place around here to bring my pup while down here visiting. I'm happy to say that now I do! Definitely don't hesitate to bring your dog to Ungerdogs. I hope this business does well because I was very happy with my first experience there! read more

Angie has been grooming my dogs for years and does an amazing job. Really professional. And everyone in the new shop is so friendly and upbeat. The actual space is amazing. Bright, spacious and if your dog is not dog aggressive he gets to walk around and be social after his grooming, not locked up in a cage for hours.
