Took my car in yesterday around 8:45. Owner went on a test drive with my son to hear the noise. He said "sounds like a wheel bearing." 5 pm I receive a call saying " could not get into the car all day. They ordered new batteries for my key fob. Why couldn't they just call me so I could come down there and open my car? Today I received a text saying I needed a new car battery and they could not do anything until this was addressed. So I drove my car away from this business and the Battery was fine. What kind of way is this to run a business? read more

My ex took her Ford Explorer in to get the rear struts repaired. It took them almost three months. They didn't do ANY of the work, stole several firearms and a couple blades out of the cab, then charged her over three grand to not do a damn thing. My experience at Great Falls Auto Repair was fabulous... mostly. They DID have some issue that prevented them from seeing my car as quickly as we all thought they would. That said, once they racked it, identified the problem and solved it, they were very efficient and effective. Considering my problem was no driver's side heat on a -20°day, my gratitude was profound. Took my Toyota Tundra in to see about a wobbling in the suspension, they said the rear shocks and front struts were shot and leaking and the boots on the front ball joints were cracked, they included pictures. I had them replace the rear shocks and they said the fan was contacting the upper radiation hose so I had them replace that. Total cost was $756. I then took it to the Toyota dealer for a second opinion, no leakage in the front struts, no cracks in the ball joint boots, everything was normal. They also took pictures of both. I would not recommend Great Falls auto repair for anything but a low tire, what a rip off joint. Stay as far away from them as you possibly can! read more

Kathy's friendly voice and helpful demeanor immediately put my mind at ease. She was able to get me into the shop just 30 minutes later. DJ came out from the garage to examine my car and, even though my request was far outside the realm of what he normally did, he didn't hesitate for a second to do it. The entire time Kathy and DJ made me feel taken care of with my car, my kids, and myself. They helped me through a truly stressful situation and I will be forever grateful to them. Horrible experience with my 2014 Nissan juke. Wouldn't start. Towed it in. I told them it had to be something simple, I've had no issues with my car. After charging me $310.00 just to diagnose problem told me it needed timing belt&kit, for $2000.00. Recommended I also let them do cylinder head rebuild, $1000.00. Warned they may find damage which would cause me to have the engine rebuilt. Asked them to close it up. Had towed to Taylor's Automax Nissan. I know my car, I know they were trying to rip me off. It was fix by Taylor's for $181.00. It was just flooded. They cleaned it out, did a oil change and reset it. BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS. THEY'RE EITHER EXTREMELY UNEDUCATED MECHANICS OR THIEVES. Wednesday I dropped off my vehicle. The car has an onboard code reader built in and I also have one of my own. Prior to taking it in I checked the codes on both readers and they turned up the same codes (cylinder misfire 2). Okie dokie, not being terribly savvy with main components of the engine block and my only mechanical experience is thanks to YouTube (bless them). At any rate, left my car overnight, told them no rush take your time I know your busy. Received an email and text message the following day stating that my car needed a tune up as well as the front rotors and pads replaced. I can hear my brakes, I know what a squeaker pin sounds like so that wasn't news to me. However their estimate on repairs was definitely a shock. To "tune up" my car and replace the rotors and pads (+labor) would be, get this, $2750!!!!! Holy buckets what did I get myself into? I've changed brakes before, and granted these are a little more expensive, but certainly not $900 they quoted me. So there's that. Next we have the tune up. For those of you not familiar with a standard tune up this is basically referring to spark plugs, coils, things of that nature. Again, my vehicle is nicer than the ones I've worked on previously but jeez it seems like my car is laced with gold or something. Now, if this wasn't shocking enough, when I went to pick up my car, the bill, simply looking at it was $276. Let me elaborate. Two hours of labor and plugging in a code reader into a vehicle with a code reader built in was going to cost me $276. Truthfully I was a little blown away. Upon further review of what these repairs would actually cost, I replaced my spark plugs for $130, which did need replaced, but my coils were actually fine. But they would have done it anyways! The rotors, passenger side has plenty of life left but I will admit the drivers side is a ready to go so I will replace both. However, not for $900. I found the appropriate rotors and pads but at a fraction of the cost.....$150 for both sides. At this point I feel like I'm just preaching about most people's experiences at auto shops. Don't know what's going on, trust the mechanics to do them right, give them some extreme estimate of repairs, parts, and labor and then just blindly agree. Let me say some good things about great falls auto repair. Firstly, Annie was incredibly professional and nice. She is the manager of the shop. The gentleman who inspected my vehicle, also a kind honest man. Once I requested a specific diagnostic of what my $276 was for, the mechanic was very understanding of my concerns and ended up taking off one hour of labor. I'm not saying don't come to this shop for help. They are knowledgeable, kind people just trying to put food on their tables like the rest of us. What I will say! Is that before you comply with your shops suggestions and clear out your savings again, please just take an hour and research the issues yourself. I guarantee you there is a much more reasonable route if you are willing to get your hands dirty. read more

As a 4th generation large corporate farm/ranch owner out of great falls I have had my share of vehicles worked on in town. I tried great falls auto repair for the first time in June 2023. I took in my 2013 F-150 for some repair jobs. My experience was terrible. The then service manager was rude and quite difficult to talk with. The job quotes and diagnosis charges were outrageous. The technician that was assigned my jobs was not the original tech that I was told would complete the jobs when I booked the appointment. Even a simple oil change was not completed correctly. I discovered after I picked it up the engine air filter had not been checked. I checked it myself and it was black and partially plugged. I did take it back to service desk to show them of the sloppy workmanship. He agreed and verified my concerns. In closing I will not be back. I wouldn't let that auto shop repair a go-cart. read more

I received a flyer in the mail advertising an oil change. Price was good so I made the call. We scheduled an appointment for the next morning. I was made to feel at ease so I spoke with them about some other things that I wanted done. The quoted price was fair and I okayed the work. Later in the day they called to say that it was going to take a little bit longer and I waited for the "and it is going to cost more too", but that never came. They stayed with the quoted price. Hallelujah. They gave me a ride to where I needed to go after I dropped off the vehicle. Treated me more than fair with what we discussed. Mechanic was easy to talk with. My heater is blowing warm again and the front end drives nice and tight. Scott was at the front counter. He told me he would call me at 4:30 to give me progress. I waited for the call that I knew would not come but when 4:30 came Scott was ringing my number. The next day 2 more calls for progress and 1 to say completion AND "can I come and get you?".
