Especially the bread since it is freshly baked. Soft and delicious. The place itself is pretty nice. Definitely clean and well maintained. Not much of a seating area for dining, but why should there be. They mostly bake bread there. A neighbor of ours (who doesn't really know us) did my husband and I a favor, so we decided to buy him a gift bag from Great Harvest to say "thank you." We were kindly greeted when we entered and asked if we needed any help. When I inquired about gift baskets, they had tons to choose from! We ended up going with a simple loaf of honey wheat bread, raspberry jam, and a stack of snickerdoodle cookies. My husband and I saw a couple of treats that caught our eye, so we bought those too. The gift bag was well received and the neighbor said everything was delicious. My husband and I tried our treats and the raspberry one was to die for! The chocolate peanut butter coconut one (kahuna) was good too, but the raspberry has my heart (I think it's called the mazerka). If we need another gift bag/basket in the future, we'll keep Great Harvest in mind. read more

Mmmm you can tell everything here is made from scratch. Really quaint spot. We stopped by on our road trip and got two sandwiches. You get to pick your own bread!!!!! And the selection is wonderful. We both got paninis. I got the BLT and picked the garlic cheddar jalapeño bread and my hubby got the Hot turkey and was recommended the peppers and herbs bread. My goodness... everything was fresh and delicious! You get a bag of kettle chips and a pickle with your sandwich too. Really nice people running the counter as well. Parking right out front made everything convenient. I didn't see a bathroom but they may have one out back? There are a couple of tables and chairs to eat right there. read more

I went there this morning to get some treats for my office staff and nobody ever came to the counter to help me. When I walked in the said "we will be right with you" but 10 minutes later I was still standing there. The two ladies in the back were just chatting away and I don't think they even realized I left. It has a good amount of garlic, which I love, I only wish the cheese was more melted. There was also complimentary bread offered to customers that you could spread butter on and drizzle with honey. My wife and I travel from north salt lake to buy your bread (honey wheat). Simply because it is best I've found . 2 stars is on more than one occasion and separately, we have had service (from one particular employee) that had me feeling like I was putting her out. Seems to me if it's such a chore / labor just to sell baked goods I will find some place else that appreciates business. I just returned (later date...) for the honey whole wheat bread. Talk about diamond in the rough. I passed this place every day for the last 4 years and not once have I taken the time to stop in. Well, I decided it was time and now I'm kicking myself for taking this long to do so. This place is amazing. Sweet and friendly staff, amazing breads, tasty sandwiches, cookies to die for and the feeling of happiness every time you walk in. They have free coffee from 3pm-4pm when you bring your own mug and bread that you can sample for free when you make a purchase or 93 cents if a sample is all you want. The slice is pretty thick too so, yeah, get some!! I wish I could give this place 10 stars cuz 5 stars doesn't do it justice. Ordered lunch catering here for a business meeting and they delivered on time with great service. We ordered a mixture of sandwiches saladsEveryone enjoyed the food and beverages, they were better than the typical stuff I order from Panera or corner bakery. I really liked the service, as the team followed up with me before during and after the ordering process to make sure I was totally satisfied. Great bakery goods, good sandwiches...just a good experience all around. My only recommendations (to customers...nothing they can do about it) is be careful in the parking area as it's a bit tricky with some cars turning in off the main road from the opposite direction and other cars moving through the actual lot which is kinda a road. The other recommendation...go early! They obviously make a manageable selection of merchandise, and I've missed my favorites by coming late more than once. My biggest problem with Great Harvest is that I go in to buy a sandwich, and inevitably end up saving it for later because I'm full! off of the enormous complimentary slice I get at the order counter. Though I'm usually a cheapskate and get the heavily processed wanna be wheat bread at the local Kroger, sometimes I need some freshly baked bread, mixed at the hands of those awesome bakers who get up in the wee hours of the morning to mix it up for me. Most of their breads contain only a few ingredients. Flour, water, yeast, honey etc. This is where my love affair of hearty wheat breads began. Could I make my own bread? I sure could. But that takes EFFORT. So I'll pay a good amount to go to Great Harvest when my body cries "No more chemicals!" Honey whole wheat is their most popular, followed by Cinnamon Burst, Country White and a mix of whole wheat and white flours. I also love their Apple Cinnamon round and focaccia bread. They also have AMAZING sandwiches. Blue Roast Beef, Turkey Panini and Smoked turkey are my favorites. The best part about the Smoked Turkey is that its on Cranberry Orange bread. Heavenly. They give you a generous slice of your choice when you walk in. They also have an array of sweets. Cookies, cinnamon rolls, brownies, scones (raspberry lemon with white chocolate chips!!!!!!!!!!), muffins and their special "mazurka" bars. There is not a bad product anywhere to be found here. It costs a bit more, but its worth it. The owners are great, the employees are happy, the bread is outstanding. read more

This bread is delicious! Even though this is clearly a bakery, we just stopped in hoping to find some really good coffee; but they give you a complimentary slice of your choice of bread, and I don't say no to freebies no matter how glutenous. The slices are huge and soooo good! The coffee is a self serve station with a bunch of flavored coffees and fake creamers. Not exactly what I was hoping to find. If they hadn't given me free bread I wouldn't have known what I was missing and probably wouldn't have been back. Instead, they've rekindled my bread addiction. I've been back twice and will keep going. Until I get so doughy I can't roll myself through the door. The cornbread was rough, earthy, moist, and just sweet enough. The cinnamon bread was bomb with tons of butter slathered on. I've had a "breakfast bite" on a roll, (basically a breakfast sandwich) and a BLT on tomato herb bread. I stopped into Great Harvest Bread for lunch a couple weeks ago and was NOT disappointed. First of all, the location of this specific GHB is so cute! It is located on Main Street in Layton with a kind of old-timey store front. There was plenty of parking both out front and to the left side of the building so that wasn't an issue at all! Second, the food, duh, it's amazing. The sandwiches, the treats, the bread alone, the trail mix, etc. I could go on forever! Finally, the staff at GHB is super friendly, super helpful, and really fast! I really couldn't have asked for anything better from my experience and will definitely be back! read more

When I went to order the gal acted like I was a bother and didn't want to take my order. I was planning to leave but decided since I was there I'd get the sandwich out of convenience. Super bummed with this great harvest. Let me start with great harvest is one of my favorite places on earth!! I've been to many, but this one has just disappointed both times! The sandwich was great don't get me wrong, but the service both times were HORRIBLE! The first time we went the two people working (both look like high school kids) didn't even acknowledge us until we asked to order, they just chit chatted away about their weekend plans as if we aren't there. Then when we got our slice of bread it did not taste fresh but like it had been sitting out all day & stale. We decided to give it another try a week later and guess what... same dang thing. The kids working made our sandwich then started talking to one another & forgot to give us our sandwiches. We waited until finally we asked if they were ready and the girl goes "oh ya they've been done" then walks over and grabs them and we got them then left. So I went in at 5pm on a day they made my sandwhich no problem, I went in two days later at 5:15 they told me they don't make sandwiches that late. The next week I went in just for bread at 5:45 and the girl asked if I was wanting a meal and made a sandwich. I think they really need to figure out what times they stop serving food. Any good athlete knows you need carbs to fuel your performance, and Great Harvest does that without all the extra crap that's no good for you. Their Honey Whole Wheat bread is AWESOME! Only 5 ingredients, all of which I can pronounce! And, when I feel like indulging, they have plenty of delicious choices for that too! (Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies anyone?) Over the years, I've gotten to know the owners, and I must say, you'll have a hard time finding more caring people. They love their bread, and their business, but they love people more than that. LOVE the sandwiches but customer service is bad. They turn the grill off and wrap up all the sandwich stuff one to two hours before they close so if you want a hot sandwich get there way before they close. If you order a sandwich within an hour of closing time the staff will tell stories about how rude people are to order sandwiches at closing and how sorry they are it is taking so long to make your sandwich because they have to get everything out that was already put away. Maybe you should have a posted sandwich shop closing time in addition to the actual close time. read more
