Utah scone (aka fry bread everywhere else)
    Tiffany S.

My absolute favorite breakfast place when I'm home visiting the family in Utah. Prior to moving to Arizona this was my go to breakfast spot and I almost always do the sos with a scone. The service here is always amazing, it's like you're going to eat with a fun family. The food is always hot and fresh and flavorful. This place gets busy if you don't get there early. It's small and homey. It's just always been inviting and never a disappointment.

The service and food were excellent. Sorry about the lack of a picture of the main part of my breakfast but the scone came first! Be sure to ask for honey butter ! I had the American breakfast and everything was perfect! My daughter had the pancakes and enjoyed those too! A favorite breakfast spot for me! Brought 2 friends from Alabama just to try the scones. Would not order any meal that did not include the scone! Yummm!

I saw this place on one of the food shows and said I should give them a try. This a typical old style diner complete with stools at the counter and several tables and booths. The service was very good we were seated and provided with water almost immediately. I order tomato juice and my wife ordered coffee. They have a nice menu with many choices. My wife ordered a scone and a side of bacon. I ordered the SOS on toast and one fried egg. The egg was good and cooked correctly. The SOS on the other hand was terrible. No meat or if there was it was ground so fine you couldn't find it. The SOS had way too much pepper which gave it an off taste. The scone was great but the bacon tasted like it had been sitting in grease under warming lights. We will give them another try and get something different

    Steak and eggs

Honestly i was disappointed after reading all the hype reviews on this place. 2 stars because the service was really good. The food was disappointing, i ordered steak and eggs with hashbrowns extra crispy. It came with their version of a "scone" which is fry bread with a mound of butter on top, it was good but only for 2 bites then it was too doughy. The steak was not a great cut, very chewy and fatty. They put the steak and eggs on top of the hash browns that were not cooked extra crispy so they ended up soggy the minute I went to eat them. For $18 plus tax and almost $4 for a cup of coffee, i wish the quality was better. The restaurant is pretty small which makes it very loud when full, it was pretty uncomfortable when I was alone trying to relax and enjoy my meal, nothing the restaurant staff can do about that but it does get crowded if you're not into larger crowded spaces.

Boy, did I pick the wrong day to start a diet. As soon as I saw those ridiculous scones, I knew that the healthy food would have to wait for another day. I have no regrets and I happily stand by my decision. My friend and I opted to sit at the counter so we could get right to it-all the tables were full and people were waiting to be seated. After we confirmed that nobody else wanted to sit there, we hungrily bellied up to the bar. Service was a little hit or miss-likely because it was packed inside and perhaps when the staff go behind the counter, they have full focus on gathering food for the tables. We did get someone's attention and were able to place our orders-but coffee refills also required us to ask. The food was pretty good-I had eggs, sausage and hashbrowns. Those alone were ok, but the scone is what sold the meal for me. It's giant, it's delicious and it's just shameful. Maybe not complete shame, since I only ate half of it and took the rest to go. Hoping that it will heat up nicely in the morning for leftovers.

Came here on a friend's recommendation; she grew up eating here so I thought maybe she had nostalgia glasses on when she was talking about it but she did not, this food is GOOD. Classic diner picks and not too pricey, friendly service/environment, and the flavor was so on point. The scone wasn't too greasy and the hash browns were crispy on top with a soft middle. Also, and I don't know why, but some of the best Diet Coke I've ever had. Delightful.

Perfectly acceptable diner fare. We went to try "the best scones in Utah" and they were very very good but my second favorite in Utah. Service was attentive and the place has an old Pizza Hut turned into diner feel. Very friendly. Very good.

Best brunch you can get in Layton, Utah! Scones are 1 of 1! The service is great, well worth the long wait on the weekends!

Ask the Community - Sill's Cafe

Is their parking for rv's or trucks pulling a trailer?

I would not recommend it. Parking lot is tight and busy. You would probably be better off parking across the street and walking over.

    What is SOS?

I'm not sure what it stands for but it's (creamy) sausage gravy

    Is breakfast served all day?

    Yes

Paying for one meal and getting two is the kind of financial planning I can get behind. The space itself is adorable and perfect for a catch-up. Huge shoutout to our waitress--she had the perfect 'checked-in but didn't interrupt' energy. 10/10, will be returning to conquer the rest of that giant menu.

Our absolute favorite thing on the menu was the Caramel Apple Stuffed French Toast. It was two thick pieces of cream-cheese stuffed French toast topped with apples, caramel, crumble, and whipped cream, and you actually got two of those pieces per order, plus bacon and eggs. It was easily one of the best breakfast plates in Ogden and the main reason we kept coming back. Yesterday we came in and found out they completely removed it from the menu. Huge disappointment right out of the gate. They still have mixed berry, banana caramel, and peach versions. I can't eat the berry because of an allergy, and we've had the peach before and didn't care for it, so we tried the banana caramel crunch instead. Service was slower than usual. There's a help-wanted sign when you walk in and it looked like a new employee was being trained, so that part was understandable. What wasn't understandable was when the food showed up. The portion has been cut in half. What used to be two stuffed French toast pieces per order is now only one, but the price is the same. My wife and I have both had weight-loss surgery, so we're definitely not people who need massive portions. But cutting the plate by 50% while charging the same price just feels like a bad move. Even though we split meals we made it up by tipping are wait staff, the difference as if we would have ordered two meals, Removing a customer favorite and shrinking portions at the same time is a good way to lose longtime customers. Cute little diner, just hope the owners can rethink this issue. All things change and not always for the good. We used to recommend No Frills to everyone. After this visit, it's hard to say we will anymore or visit ourselves.

Wait staff was friendly but a little hard to hear since it's definitely got a diner vibe and it's pretty noisy. The Spanish omelette was a little smaller than I expected and a little dry. It needed Spanish sauce and cheese on the top, definitely. We got some green salsa to add. The breakfast sandwich was good. I expected the ciabatta roll to be a little more dense, as ciabattas normally are. It was more like a roll, but fresh! I think it comes from the Oakley bakery on the lower level. Definite diner vibe, as I said, but the floor was pretty dirty. Needed to be swept and mopped. When you're waiting for the hostess to check for a clean table, you're standing by the first seated table. A little awkward. All-in-all we'd probably go back. The A/C didn't seem to be working, and it was uncomfortably hot inside. If we hadn't been so hungry, we probably would have gone somewhere else because of the heat.
