On Saturday they have tractor and truck pull and then on Sunday again they have a tractor and truck pull. Ticket prices are $10 for adults starting at age 13 and over and $5 for kids aged 10 to 12 years. Military and special needs get in the fair for free and seniors age 62 and over cost $9. Now those ticket prices include access to everything at the fairgrounds all the grandstand events, but you pay extra for the carnival rides, and they have different daily rates and arm bands that you can buy for the kids or adults if you still like to ride

People must be allowed to leave the seat if they want to or need to - and that seat must remain open when they return (guards trying to shame people to squeeze together not caring that an empty seat is for someone [aka spouse/child] who is coming back). Completely ruined the experience. And then yet another insurance company tells the event participants what they can and can't do? And never have I heard so many f-bombs and angry comments by fellow audience members. It was a shame to see entire families turned away from open seating because they didn't have an "x" on their arm or were in the wrong line. The whole experience was frustrating. Was a hair's breadth of just leaving the fair and making a stink for my entrance money back. For decades, people just filled the stands as they saw fit/when they saw fit and it worked. Was looking to go back for the Figure-8 and Rodeo this week, but no way. Not up for experiencing this fiasco again. Probably just go to the Eastern or State fair next year.

I had purchased my ticket on StubHub for about $19 ($15 or so plus taxes), and I saw that the day before the event they had them for $10 pre-taxes, so I'd recommend going that route instead of Ticketmaster. They route you through the Kroger food tent first and I don't know if they've read the reviews on here or something, but they've upped their game - they had small sliders (teriyaki chicken, deli-style, and roast beef), all sorts of cheeses, other deli meats, some crackers, ice cream novelties (stuff on a stick), and mini brownies. YUM. We had actually just eaten lunch but I definitely sampled a little of everything. They had one full tent devoted to beer, one to Kroger wines, and I think 3-4 others for wines. You get 8 drink tickets each, and you get your drinks in a commemorative wine glass that you get to take home - it said Kroger on one side and Wine & Food Fest on the other (see my pic). I would actually go to this festival again - I just wish it wasn't so hot out today. They do charge $10 for parking which is ridiculous, but that's Meadow Brook (or any other concert venue) for you. When you leave the festival, you have the opportunity to purchase bottles of wine or hard cider/beer that you tasted, too, which was cool - my friend and I split a Vandermill's 4-pack of cider. Overall not a bad way to spend a few hours on a Sunday.

For $15 (and $10 parking per car, NOT MENTIONED ANYWHERE), we got eight drink tickets to use toward wine and beer (a new addition this year) and access to Kroger's snack tent. Upon entering the "festival" (I'll continue using the word festival in quotations throughout this review because the definition of a festival is "an annual celebration or anniversary" and there was nothing celebratory about this event...), we were ushered to the Kroger food tent. We were allotted one sample each of some Boar's Head lunchmeat sliders, chunk cheese, coleslaw, brownies and ice cream bars. After enjoying the finger food, it was off to the wine "festival". There were three wine tents: wine from around the world, Michigan-made wines, and economy/cheap wines. Then there was a beer tent with brews from all around Michigan. The "festival" was held on uneven ground, where we had to hike up and around between tents. Lines were a joke, and there weren't enough attendants to go around. Let's say there were five wine/beer companies on one side of the tent: there were only two attendants pouring for those five companies. Organization was nil. Also, people brought kids. Why the hell are you killing my vibe with your loud children at a wine "festival"? A couple other things: there was hardly any shade at this "festival" and the lawn was ridiculously long. They really should have mowed it shorter because we kept tripping while walking (and it wasn't because we were drunk.) Speaking of drunk, if you managed to get drunk here, you must be the lightest-weight drinker ever. The wines were meticulously metered at less than an ounce a pour. Even beer was measured into a small jello-shot plastic cup, then poured into the glass. I feel bad for the suckers who paid $25 a ticket plus Ticketmaster fees for this "festival". I didn't come here to get loaded by any means, but at most beer fests I go to, I expect to at least get my money's worth. By the end of our visit, I sure didn't have a buzz but I was sunburned and annoyed. That's about all I got from attending this "festival".

I have been checking out all of the farmers' markets in the SE Michigan area this summer, and while Eastern Market will always be the best, I am thoroughly impressed with the Rochester Farmers' Market! It definitely exceeded my expectations & I'm kicking myself for only now realizing what a gem I have in my own backyard! There are an impressive number of vendors every single time you go. I wasn't expecting nearly this many, and I like that it's almost an equal blend of regular vendors & rotating vendors! The farmers' market is located in just a standard size parking lot, but it still contains enough room for a vast selection of vendors, and probably most importantly several produce vendors. Competition is healthy, especially when it comes to veggies & fruits I believe, because it doesn't allow any one vendor to create a monopoly over it. My pro tip is to always do a lap throughout the entire market first to scope out what vendors are here and selling what produce at what prices before you start buying! Additionally, a big pro tip especially for Rochester Farmers' Market is to get there EARLY! This market closes at 1 pm, which I feel like is uniquely early, and that basically means that things sell out FAST, especially from one-off vendors. If you get there after 11, you can almost guarantee that some of the things you might've wanted to pick up will be sold out or slim pickings. Sometimes it's hard for me to wake up because all I want to do is sleep in at the start of the weekend, but it's worth it for this market! What makes the Rochester Farmers' Market extra special is that they allow dogs & they always have live music! It really puts you in a great mood & sets the tone for a wonderful Saturday morning outside, supporting hard working people & small businesses, interacting with just the loveliest vendors around, and getting to dog watch all the cute dogs that come through. The rest were dedicated to selling purses, baked goods, and ceramic ware. In other words, there was not a whole lot going on farmer wise. The farmer's who were there though had an excellent variety of goods!
