After receiving an average quote I went with Great Lakes because I liked the rep and they have a decent reputation. The installation was fast and uneventful. The owner was here and actually did more than I expected when he repaired some badly rotted soffit. During the initial visit, I advised them that I was aware that two underground drains were plugged. When they completed the job, they insisted that all the underground drains are plugged, plus the connection is below ground and they are not going to dig to get to it to remove the " connection and install a 6", so all drains now run off to the ground. There was one specific run that the gutter had a reverse slope. I advised them that that was important to me because that was where most of the actual run off was occurring. When they finished the same section had a revers slope. I will give credit that they came out a few time to address this. One time the employees walked around and did nothing. Another time the employees got on ladders but when they left the gutter had the same slant. Finally after complaining they came out and bent a foot of drain to run down the spout. It's difficult to give a rating when part of a job is done well and part is not so good. I considered giving one or two starts but I want to be generous. If the job is uncomplicated they will perform well. In my case, not so well. read more

One star is generous. I made the mistake of not double checking the color on the proposal, I now have tan gutters on my gray house and have to pay a painter to get them to match. This is after bringing it to the attention of the owner and having a ridiculous conversation with him whereby he completely negated any responsibility for his recommendation--I was never shown a color brochure and just assumed they would be of a relatively similar color. My bad...which he repeatedly pointed out after saying that I was insulting his intelligence (totally turning around my words after he insisted that the gutters match our house). That's a separate story from what's been happening lately, less than a year after installation pieces of the gutter extensions and gutter guards are blowing off the house. My neighbor sent me a text this morning that he picked up and returned a piece of gutter extension that had detached and wind blew down the street, my husband found another piece in the yard next to our house a few weeks ago. There have been pieces of gutter guards in the landscaping that have blown off. I'm not one to write bad reviews, it's taken more than six months to post this. I understand the impact this may have on their business but after the way I was treated and now dealing with the poor quality of the work that was done I have no reservations about sharing this experience. read more

I requested a quote on the 19th, and was told that I would hear back with the estimate by the 22nd at the latest. Still didn't hear anything on the 25th I asked again if I was going to receive the quote was told they would get it to me today the 27th I told them to never mind. The office rep I emailed with was pleasant but the company obviously doesn't want business. Updated- after I told them I was not longer interested a proposal was sent to me with a date of 26th. Our 110 year old home needed help. We have lived in this residence for almost 43 years and now it needed more than just "band-aiding." After checking out several companies, to the rescue came Great Lakes Gutter Company. We were immediately impressed during the initial contact when Bill talked to two very knowledgeable, patient and welcoming receptionists, Kaitlin and Stephanie. After having our home painted, it was time to add the gutters. Rob Noe, Project Manager, came to our location, surveyed the issues, listened to what we wanted and presented a plan of action with reasonable estimated costs as to what would be involved. It was definitely a challenge that they were willing to take on. From the very beginning Kevin and Micah arrived with welcoming smiles, energy and a focus. They unloaded ladders, tools and quality materials (which reflected the color choice that we had given). Having a very old home presented aged problems; but nothing that this incredible team couldn't tackle and overcome with their creative mission. There was open communication with us and a definite focus on positive customer relations which was always evident. Each of them was positive and self-directed as the work progressed. At times the heat and humidity of Michigan's notorious summer weather would have slowed down most workmen, but not these guys. We don't know if they took any breaks; each hour produced visible progress. It was obvious that they wanted to be on-schedule. The flurry of accurate action was like worker bees. This company was detail-oriented with perfection as a goal. The gutters have given our home new and extended life thanks to Great Lakes Gutters. The clean-up effort was efficient and complete with a final inspection when Kevin and Micah had us accompany them around the whole house for any comments or alterations. I used Great Lakes Gutter some time ago and was extremely impressed with the knowledge and expertise of the salesman and the installers. The job was completed in good time and my only regret was not listening to the salesman for a suggestion. Now I know. Listen to the experts, when you know they're being honest, and they're making suggestions for your best interests and not just to make more money off of you. Needed gutters ASAP due to neighbors tree damage. Scheduled an online review. Did not get a response. Called the office after a month, email off on a charcter. The office was responsive and helpful though. Installers were unaware of fifth downspout added by and gutter size( wanted 3"x4"). Seems like field estimator wasn't communicating with crew. The installers were helpful with locating downspout on current pop up emitter drains, however, the estimator made no mention of changing down spout to drain adapters. I am content with the gutters. However, seems like office and field personell don't communicate as needed. I am glad that I went with theis business since they have an excellant warranty. read more

For installation? Not a problem. But for service? Questionable long term. After a few years, started having some overflow problems with a few areas, and also asked for a repair in one area. Called once. Said I would get a call back. Called again. Said it would cost $300 just for them to come out ( not to do the repair, just to make the trip- hey, this is not the sticks.... person on the phone said she would have someone come out to look and see what service would entail.) Nothing. No call, no person came out, ever. I had to call another company for the service. Who did a fantastic job, for much less than $300. read more

Great Lakes Gutters came out roughly one year ago, to give us an estimate. Ultimately the visit went okay, and I liked the guy John; the estimate was the least expensive of 3 that I had done, and he was educationally informative. We became really busy and time for us went by quickly. By the time I called for them to do our gutters, something must have changed with the the company or the person I don't know. I called 3 day and left messages with a secretary and voicemail, called johns personal number left messages, and even sent a text but, I received no reply or call back. I don't chase anyone to come and take my money. Maybe it's fate! I called this company for a simple estimate on new gutters. I was immediately asked a ton of questions that I couldn't answer about my roof and current gutters by the receptionist. I explained that I may not need all new gutters but possibly one in the back, the garage, maybe new gutter guards but I wasn't sure. I was told they won't do partial jobs or even quote partial jobs. I told her I didn't even know if it was a partial job but I would like someone to come out and give me an estimate anyway. After a little more back and forth she FINALLY agreed to make an appointment with me. Wow. In the end after calling around I'm going with another gutter company who not only has great reviews but didn't hassle me over an estimate or a possible "partial job". They also accommodated my schedule perfectly. I own two homes, so I hire people constantly, the ones who get my money are the ones who don't make the process hard for me. Use GLG last year for gutters on my garage. I wasn't home when installed. Only wanted 3 sides done, they did all four. I called and told them the gutters are not pitched correctly, didn't want gutters all the way around and one of the downspouts isn't where I wanted it. They removed the one downspout and put it where I wanted, but never uninstalled the gutters to slop them correctly. The water only drains down one downspout and leaks in many places around my garage. The side that didn't need a gutter on they didn't replace the rotted fascia, just put gutters over it. A friend recommended GLG to me, but I wouldn't recommend using them. read more

At 3:50, I gave them a call to make sure I had the correct time and date. Was told that their person was running just a bit late, that they had had a call off this morning. Understandable. They were the low bidder on my getter replacement job. 5 inch seamless with gutter rx installed. They are a decent outfit and responsive to phone calls. The only reason I docked them one star was that one of my gutters started overflowing after a couple of months. I got on a ladder to investigate. One of the "coins" cut out on the downspout adapter was partially still in the adapter. I broke it loose and the problem was solved. Otherwise, the job went to perfection. Be aware, they need a true 20 amp outlet to run their machine. They do not generally bring their own generator. read more

Very unprofessional. I waited to write this review until I could speak with the owner but my message asking to speak to him was ignored. John came out and gave me an estimate. It was $184 higher than another quote I received but john seemed to know his stuff. I sent in a signed contract and called to have the gutter removal scheduled. (I was going to have another crew replace the fascia and soffit before Great Lakes Gutter installed new gutters). They picked the day and time, 8am-9am on a Wednesday. Perfect for me since I wouldn't have to take off work to show the gutter crew around and there were dry days expected for the other crew to do their work on the following next two days. I received a call at the end of the day Tuesday from Caitlan telling me they couldn't be there until around 11 the next day. This left me no time to reschedule my job so I could not be there. I had also taken off the next two days to be with the other crew to replace the fascia so If I had to reschedule, Id be wasting two days off and would have to reschedule that crew and take more time off work another week. I asked Caitlan why she was calling so late in the day at 5pm and was trying to explain that gave me no notice to call off work. She interrupts me and says "It's not even 5:00 yet, its 4:55, Have a nice day!" and hangs up the phone! I thought maybe someone would call back at some time to reschedule but no. I messaged them a week later and asked to speak with the owner, that was ignored. I'd be very careful trusting this company, they'll waste your time and wont honor their contract. read more

Called for the free quote. Left early to meet at my house. The gentleman was very nice said he would email quote that evening. Next day no quote. Waited another day, no quote. Thought maybe email address was wrong I called it was correct they said he would send it out 2 more days I called the receptionist said she was going to personally email it herself. I never received information from her either. No quote obviously at this point, I was not going to hire but was curious of the quote. I called the receptionist and said he didn't send it because he had questions. I asked well was he going to wait until I called. Basically, very bad customer service. The office manager, Kaitlyn, was wonderful to work with; the estimator was great; prices were fair, and the crew was polite, professional and made all my particular requests about downspout/extender placements, etc. come true. Guy did not call to inform me he was at my home and I was at home. He did measurement and left claim that he bang on the door. I called and was told that they would email me the estimate. I didn't want it I told the person I wanted to be there that is why I schedule it on an off day. The lady was not nice because I was angry. The installation of gutters and gutter guards went fine last fall. But over the winter the gutter guards iced over and water ran over the gutter and froze on porches and driveway. Had literally a foot of ice on one porch. Called numerous times to get someone out to fix it but was told they only had skeleton crew during winter or they weren't going to be in our area or weather was bad. Finally this week a crew showed up unannounced and said they were here to cut the mesh away from the guard over the porch with worst problem. I told them again the problem occurred everywhere, not just that one spot and using a knife to cut away the mesh didn't seem like much of a fix. John, the GM called and we discussed options but none sounded sure to resolve the problem so I said I wanted the guards removed. John said he had to consult the boss (his father I think). But no call back and he never answers my calls. Looks like they are okay to do business with until you have a problem - then watch out. Suggest you stay away from them. read more

The crew just finished installing the gutters. It was an exceptional job they cleaned up everything. During the install, they noticed there was a color difference between the down south, and attachment fixtures and the aluminum coil that they were making the gutters out of. They stopped, and pulled down everything that they had made, scrapped it and waited for the correct coil to be delivered. The crew was very professional. Highly recommended! read more

Initial experience was good with the salesperson but it started to go down hill from there. Crew did some sloppy work on some of my gutters and left spikes laying in my grass for me to pick up before I could cut my grass or let my dogs out. When I called them the day after install about several issues I had found with the gutters it took them almost 2 weeks to come back and correct the problems. That's after one NO CALL NO SHOW appt I made so the salesperson could come see what was wrong with my gutters. I would definitely recommend another company even if it's more expensive. read more

the gutters were installed last november, so after 6 months of snow and rain, I was able to determine some trouble areas. My downspouts are so close to the ground that the water spills out the bend against my outer wall and on the roof in one area the rain pours down right over the gutter along my bay window. when I let them know at the end of June I asked if their work was still under warranty or if I should call someone out to fix these issues. I was told they would wqrite up a 'service' and someone would get out to look at it. That was a week ago. Not sure what a 'service' means but I am hoping someone lets me know. read more
