During inspection process of buying a condo mold was found in the crawl space, Patrick was hired by the seller to remediate. During remediation he even found additional leaking items that were leaking into the crawl space that the home inspector missed, the seller addressed which saved me money & future mold issues. They sprayed the entire crawl space ceiling & added a vapor barrier. Patrick and his team are not only knowledgeable & they care & have old school work ethic that is a now a rarity. So, had these folks over to do some remediation in Metro Detroit suburb. They did the job and told us we get a re-inspection next year. Well next year is here now, and after calling them we were told, very impolitely, that "your service and warranty is expired, stop bothering us for re-inspection. We don't care about your air quality as that is not our problem". When we insisted that their tech told us about the re-inspection, they told us not to threaten them. Really! You not only go back on your word but also belittle your clients. What we recommend is DON'T use them. If you do make the mistake, DON'T trust them or their procedures. VERIFY their work, have them TEST your air before and after the job, and MAKE SURE you get in writing that they will be back the following year to ensure their work was VALID. I plan to spread the word not only to the real estate community but also to the local military families as well, since I work on Selfridge ANGB. read more

Terrible customer service. Had this company perform work at our home. Tried calling them several times regarding the written warranty. Never answered their phone or returned our calls. Wasn't until we posted a review that we received a callback. Owner was very combative over the phone and would not honor their written warranty. Do not trust this company. I am so grateful for what this company did for our family. We had mold in our crawl space and I only wish I would have called Great Lakes Remediation sooner. When Patrick came out, he went all the way to the back of our crawl space which is a tight fit and something no one else was willing to do. Within 10 minutes he told me what he thought the problem was and suggested that we have a company out for testing to find out exactly what we were dealing with. The results confirmed exactly what Patrick suspected. The remediation process ran smoothly. I don't remember the name of the other guy I met with throughout the process, but he was great too. They completed the work in the timeframe they said they would and they were very organized and thorough. I know you're supposed to keep reviews short, but I just want to share more about our experience. Other reviewers have mentioned how knowledgeable Patrick is, and I just want to reiterate that he really knows what he's doing. 4 months prior to having Great Lakes out I had another mold remediation guy out who completely missed the mold that was right at the entrance to the crawl space and told me I didn't have anything to worry about. He suggested we run a dehumidifier inside of the house to get rid of the odor I was concerned about. The home inspector missed the issue as well because he was too lazy to go into the crawl space. During the 6 months from when we purchased the house my young daughter was constantly sick. We had to take her to the ER twice for breathing issues. We missed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and didn't get to celebrate her 2nd birthday because she was so sick. It was one of the most stressful things to know that there's a problem but not know how to solve it and to keep getting bad advice from professionals.
