I signed up for a Groupon deal for the massage and mud treatment. Mud, sounded interesting. I checked in at the front desk and filled out a simply questioniare. A few minutes later I was on my way to the best massage I ever had. Emily, my massage therapist, applied hands on therapy to my back and neck, constantly asking if the pressure was too much. At times, I was almost ready to cry for relief and pain at the same time. Emily applied mud on my upper back and spine area. Twenty minutes later she pealed it off, and my back was tingling in a good way. On the way out, she offered purified water and thanked me for by business. Overall, I reallly felt like I recieved an incredible massage. I will not wait long to return to Great Life Oriental Therapy. Thanks to Emily and her wonderful staff. read more

I live in Texas and I came to visit my bestie. My bestie and I used a groupon. 40 minute and 20 minute herbal mud pack. No wait. The ladies are not good at speaking English. I understood...maybe...5 words while I was there. No instructions were given. We walk into a room. We assumed to take off everything but our underwear. Then the lady start massaging your shoulders, back, legs, arms, head. She asks "is it ok?" every once in awhile. I must had alot of knots in my shoulders so it hurt whatever pressure she applied on me. Overall massage was okay. Herbal mud pack was super HOT. At first it didn't seem hot. But the heat builds up. I don't know exactly know what the mud pack does. No explanation given. It's just HOT. After the massage she gives me a cup of water. I pay and give her $10 tip. And the lady says that's it? Umm yeah? I thought it was fair. So we just walked out. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I went back in December (sorry new to yelp) My massage was interrupted so many times I lost count after 7. She left be bare ass naked with the door wide open and I was the first room by the entrance!! ( which is illegal, they can't reveal any private areas like butt, boobs, etc.) She got wayyyyYYYYYY to close to my private areas. Way to close! I had to ask her to stop multiple times. I usually go to hand and stone or LaVida but they were booked and I needed my back worked on. So I knew how it should usually go and this place was just so unprofessional and dirty! I wish I could give this place negative stars. This was the WORST experience that I have ever had for a massage. The therapist walked out mid massage without saying a word to me to greet people at the door. After ten minutes she returned. There was no apology, no anything. Then after spending most of the massage focusing on my butt, another rude woman just barged in the room and they begin to argue back and forth in a foreign language. Unbelievably, I let this go. The same lady barged in again without knocking or anything and they start arguing again. Are you freaking serious? My second time here, both times I've seen Lily. I have horrible knots, tight back/hips & a messed up neck. Lily does an amazing job & I feel so much better after seeing her! The mud treatment is fantastic! I need to come here more often! Keep in mind, if you use a Groupon - you should tip on the original (non-discounted) cost. I saw a review that said someone tipped $10 & thought that was fair, no it's not an appropriate tip as the original cost is $90. I would've given this place 4 stars. All I wanted was a foot massage. To start, I was offered a foot detox where you soak your feet in a tub of water that is hooked to an ionizer. They also sprinkled salt in it. After 30 mins of soaking, the water turned brown. The lady explained to me that the color corresponds to certain toxins from my body. I'm not convinced but nodded. I was escorted into a private room. The foot massage began with a rub down from the knee to my ankles. She worked each foot to the bottom of my foot as well as each toe. The massage part was excellent. I was totally relaxed, which is precisely why I came here. As I was going deep in relaxation, the door bells jingled and someone came in. There was nobody at the front so my masseuse got up and greeted the person. I was annoyed. She came back to work on my other foot and 4 mins into it, the door bells jingled again. Now I'm rattled. This happened another time and I couldn't wait to go. Summary: massage was good. Interruptions no so good. I will go back again. If I get interrupted then, I will reduce the stars. read more

I usually go to a different massage place but I wanted to try something new and I was told by a few friends that oriental massages are definitely something I would like. Loved it. I bought the Groupon for the 40 min massage and 20 min mud mask. I like deep tissue. From sitting all day at work, the knots in my back are awful and I need hard pressure to get them out. I didn't get her name but she was great. I also really liked how she kept asking if I was ok and if the pressure was ok. I have been having headaches each morning for about 2 weeks and woke up today with no headache. I will be coming back! read more

The massages are done well. The wait can be longer than appropriate for a professional business. Half the staff seems to be trained and certified and the other half appears to be peak hour fill ins with no formal training. I am fairly new to the area and have been frequenting Great Life Oriental for a good year now. I am very happy with their services especially my last two visits one being yesterday. I went and seen Shu because I am familiar with her extensive work and study in acupressure, reflexology and healing. I went for a massage with a Groupon once I arrived . She took me into the first room. There was no sheet on table to cover with . She told me to take of my closet he's except my underwear she left room and returned with one and just threw it on the bed and put two pieces of paper towel down for my face on the table. I wanted to leave at that point . But I wanted to give her a chance not just the atmosphere. I literally lay down and. She turn on the table heater to high and I told her it was hot. The then says she going to wash her hand and only uses some hand sanitizer. Then she pumped one pump of some lotion then smeared it from my neck to my feet in one sweeping motion. Then the lady in the hallway starts yelling . She runs out of room and she goes into another room. A different Lady that was yelling comes into my room tells me I'm getting my back treatment first . She leaves.I can hear her microwave some thing in the next room over she comes in scoops it out in one blob and throws it on my back it was scolding hot I swear I was going to have burns I told her it was hot and she told me " you can't handle it" then she used which sounded like a Kroger bag rubbed it on her hands and slid the mud to the middle of my back and left the bag there on my back and left the room. I was looking at my clock in the room and it was only 10 minutes she returned and ripped it off my back left got a paper towel with water on it and wiped a few things off my back. Then she put a pump of some kind of lotion ,started to massage only using her elbows / forearms for my full 40 massage. She actually crawled on the table and was digging into my back. . Then she started to rub my head with her fingers which was starting to feel good until she started to use her elbow again and pulling my hair. I told her numerous times it was painful thought out massage. Then she beat my arms with her fists like it was normal. Great Life Oriental Therapy is an excellent facilty. The owner, Shue, has the hands of a godess. She is very knowledgable about muscle structure and the nervous system. Excellent place to work out your knots from heavy work, sports injury or just for a relaxing encounter. Emily is a very popular therapist as well. I also used a Groupon deal for the Mud and deep-tissue massage. (It does clearly state 40 minutes deep-tissue and 20 minutes hot mud). I was taken to the massage room immediately, no waiting. Once I disrobed and lay down, I did wait for a few minutes, but the table was warm and cozy, and the music was calming. When my therapist came in she positioned me, then said something I didn't quite understand. She left the room, then came back 5 minutes later with the hot mud. After draping me with protective sheeting for my hair she began applying the hot mud. Warning-if you are sensitive to heat, do NOT ask for the hot mud. I like hot baths and showers, but I do think the mud was too hot. I did worry about blisters, but the I soon got used to the heat, and she left me to relax for 20 minutes and let the mud do its job. When she came back, she removed the mud and began the massage. Now, I have had many massages, but this is the first time I've had the therapist get up on the table with me! The pressure was at times too hard, but when I asked her to lighten up she did, but sometimes the pressure was on a bone, and not a muscle. All in all it wasn't a bad experience, and I would return, but not for the Mud and deep-tissue. Would love to go back for a relaxation massage next time. read more

I've been going about once a month for about 2 years. I've had a massage from every masseuse there and have finally settled on Linda. Her style fits with what I'm looking for. The other masseuses are also good but have slightly different styles so if you don't like one of them, you should try another. When I leave, I actually feel like I've had a massage. My muscles are relaxed and I leave feeling very good. Linda tailors the massage to what is needed -- if she finds a tight area, she will focus more time on it. She is always very pleasant and ensures that I am completely comfortable. She does only work on Tues. and Fridays, though. The only con to the place is the scheduling. Since they accept walk-ins and they have many, if you walk-in sometimes you will have to wait. I used to walk-in but I've learned to always schedule a massage so I do not have that issue, and sometimes they do call me to ask if I can come in a little bit later to ensure I am not waiting. When I do arrive, Linda meets me as soon as I walk through the door and I am led directly into a room without any waiting. They don't have a full time receptionist so scheduling an appointment can take several calls. And, yes, sometimes the masseuse will have to leave the massage to take care of the front desk -- mostly when you have the owner giving the massage. Linda hasn't had to leave the room to take care of the frontdesk for at least a year. When she did have to leave, she always extended the total time for the massage. read more

I thought from the reviews that this place was going to be great but that was the last thing it was. Ive had a couple of deep tissue massages and none were like this. I went with 2 friends and we all had different experiences. All the workers were nice but the service was not good. The lady my friend had left every couple of minutes to check her personal phone and would take calls and not come back to the room for forever but somehow finished her 60 minute deep tissue massage at the same time as ours. The first couple times she left the room it was fine but after 6 times of her leaving the room it was kind of ridiculous! As for me, I told my lady multiple times to not go so hard but she was going in and would not stop. I have a high pain tolerance so I knew when I was wincing in pain and could barely lay still on the table it was too much. From my other experiences with massages they should never be that uncomfortable. I was left with bruises up and down my whole back it looks like I got attacked.I can honestly say that you should never go here. I was very excited for my first massage. My friend and I had made an appointment for 12:30 today and we arrived around 12:20 (10 minutes prior to our appointment). We even called earlier today to make sure we still had our appointment and once we got there, they were very confused. Two other clients came in after us with appointments also at 12:30 which was over booked. The lady told us to go into the room, so y friend and I went into the massage room and waited 20 minutes and still no one was there to give the massage. The entire staff is wonderful and caring. I have many injuries over a long period of time that cause me pain and difficulty breathing. I have been getting treatments from them for several months now and I have less pain and it has been easier to walk and work. The same with the breathing, I have been more relaxed lately and I sleep better. Recently they had purchased a sauna blanket and it was amazing. The sauna blanket allows them to massage the more difficult areas with better results. I felt lighter after the treatment. It was the best massage I have ever had. They masterfully used acupressure, deep tissue and reflexology with amazing results. Most bizarre massage I've ever had. It wasn't bad just strange. I was gifted a 60 minute massage with herbal mud treatment. I arrived shown into a room where they told me to undress. I've had a lot of massages and I always leave my underwear on. The places I go require you to do so and I prefer that. I lay on the table with only a sheet barely big enough to cover me. She walks in almost completely uncovers me and proceeds to pull my underwear down past my cheeks. Wow that shocked me. She proceeds to start the massage on my neck while my behind is fully exposed. Awkward and cold. My massage place works on one area at a time while making sure every other area is fully covered. She massages my back and arms then proceeds to climb on top of the table and straddled me to finish my back. Once again awkward. After 40 minutes of her massaging the back of my body she leaves the room. She returns applied the warm mud and left me laying in the room for 15 minutes while the mud hardened. She peels off the mud and said she was done and walked out. 1. Guess I was expecting an actual 60 minute massage not 40 2. She never addressed my front body. I was a little disappointed but it was a groupon gift. If I would of paid the stores price of $90 for that I would of complained. Would not return. read more

I've been to many various massage parlors over that last several and let me tell you Angela is a dream come true! Very friendly and has given me the best massages I've ever received. Never a happy ending in this place! My privates are always covered and she actually leaves the room when I'm asked to turn over. They are very professional! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I feel bad that I bought a 90 minute package as a gift for my daughter who got a very poor 60 minute massage instead. They overbooked, employees were running in & out of rooms yelling in their language. It was not relaxing at all but the worst part was when they put me in a room with another client who wasn't even dressed! AWKWARD! They forgot to hook up the ionic foot detox machine until after 15 minutes of my 20 minute session was over, so I was just sitting there in the lobby on a couch with waiting customers with my feet in warm water...and I paid for that?!? You can hear noises outside the room. The bathroom was not clean and had bunch of cleaning bottles and cleaning supplies on the floor. Please buyer BEWARE...I agree the massages are done very well ,but the customer service ,and atmosphere was HORRIBLE I tried this place because of a good deal on groupon what a mistake they are very understaffed looks like a family type business,I was put in a room where I waited a half an hour for someone to come in and start,the lady who gave my massage also doubled as the receptionist,the annoying sound of the ding from the front door opening every five to ten minutes very loud can be heard in the rooms therefore the rooms are not soundproof,I could hear various conversations going on outside the room also,,,what a joke this place is ,my massage therapist left the room WHILE doing my massage a total of twelve times every time the front door ding she had to stop my massage and take care of front desk,how disrespectful was that,I was more tense when I left then when I got there,I asked to use restroom before I left and they had the nerve to have a portable washing machine in the middle of the bathroom floor washing towels while I used the toilet with a hole in the floor where the washing machine hose went ,needless to say water was all over the bathroom floor ,I could not get out this place fast enough,this seemed more like an episode of punked then a spa experience.but I will say thank you to groupon for refunding me with groupon bucks so I can get a real spa experience,I usually do not write reviews but I read all these good reviews before I purchased and wished someone would have warned me...thanks yelp for posting read more

It was my first time and nothing was explained to me bec the woman didn't speak English. She took me to the room and left. I assumed I was to sit so I did. She came back with a bucket full of water and strapped a thingy around my wrist. I asked what It was for, she replied 'no speak English '. So she then added table salt to the bucket and said 20 min. Ok, then she came back after 20 min... The water turned brown! I thought wow I'm gonna have to find out why, since they gave me no info. Well, many articles say it's not a detox just oxidation of metal and salt and water. Lame. Nice warm bath for feet though. Now for reflexology.... Or so I thought. It was nothing more then a rough massage where she barely used lotion and used gloves. I interrupted her and asked " I thought it was supposed to be reflexology?", she of course had no idea what I was saying. So she brought in someone else who kept asking "foot massage great? Foot massage great?". I said no it was too fast and hard and not enough lotion, so the rubbing hurt esp cuz she was wearing gloves. I said I bought the reflexology for feet. She insisted that this massage WAS reflexology.... Um ok. I just gave up at that point. The 2nd lady explained to my massage lady in their language that she was going too fast/hard so the masseuse lightened up a little. No time added for the interruption due to my questions. 20 min "massage" and it was over. Would I return? NO. Was it dumb. Yes. Would I recommend.... NO!
