I will give them no star if I can. I ask for a taxi on Surrey Road but they send the cab to Surrey Lane. I called several time. First couple time, they just let me wait without telling me the mistake. After I said I wouldn't wait any longer, the lady said he is going to figure something out and call me back. LATE!! I booked taxi the night before to make sure I get to LaGuardia on time. Ask the dispatcher will driver be on time at 7, or should I book earlier? "They will be waiting for you at 7, sir, no need to book earlier." Great. Next morning, I'm waiting 20 minutes early, just in case they get there early. 7 am comes, no taxi. I call to make sure they haven't forgotten, "No" says dispatch, "she said she'll be there in 4 minutes." She finally shows up at 7:10. Lesson? Book early, or book a different company. read more

Called just now for a taxi. The man on the phone kept saying "Jesus Christ" after every sentence and wouldn't even let me finish saying the address I wanted to go to without cutting me off with a "Jesus Christ." I'm not trying to have a whole conversation and I speak quickly so I'm not sure why someone would have such rage issues. When I asked how long it would take for the cab to arrive, he was rude, cut me off, and refused to give me any type of time estimate. Why on earth would anyone want to give their money to such unhappy and rude people? I can only hope and pray those poor phone operators Get the psychological help they need. I hope you don't speak to your mother like that. Please find something that brings you happiness instead of acting miserable to complete strangers who just want a ride home in the snow. Talk about a business that hasn't bothered to update and develop their business in any meaningful way over time. Their dispatchers are rude, the service is totally unreliable. Pick up times aren't what you are told to expect and they aren't always prepared for credit payments. Thank goodness for Uber! read more

Consistently disappointing and unreliable service . Great Neck Taxi company left me in the lurch on multiple occasions . Needed a daily ride between the train station and LIJ during my two months assignment , but after three weeks of unreliable service leading to constant stress and lateness , I decided rather pay a few extra bucks and switch to uber instead . Every time I called for a taxi , I was told a " few minutes " for the taxi to show . However , their interpretation of few minutes meant 20-30 mins wait ( if the car showed at all ). On my last occasion, after calling for a taxi followed by a lengthy wait of 25 mins at the station ( at 6 am -no traffic) , I called back to follow up, and the dispatcher simply told me no one picked up the fair and no taxi was available then she mumbled something about drivers being out or vacation . How about giving the costumer a courtesy call ???? Why should they ? Just let them be stranded and wait . ( but when it was the other way around and the driver didn't see me as he pulled up - the dispatcher called me right away. I was fuming , and ended up running late from work due to my reliance on this taxi company . With uber availability on this area ( in addition to other taxi companies ), they need to realize that they need us , costumers more than we need them or else, they will loose business fast . read more

Awful. I called for a taxi and the dispatcher said 5-15 minutes. 20 minutes later I called to check and driver said he had no taxis. He could have told me that when I called the first time or called me back but he didn't. I could have waited an hour and no one would have showed up with no notification. Worse than useless because they just don't care if they leave you stranded. Don't waste your time. read more

If I could give a zero star, I would. The problem was not the cab driver but the dispatcher. She was incredibly rude and gave me a huge attitude when I was waiting for my cab that apparently showed up and left. I would recommend using any other cab in great neck other than this one to avoid this horrible woman screwing up your travels. read more

Called when I got there and realized there was no cab. Another 10 minutes go by and I call again and am assured one is minutes away. Another 20 min and finally I have a cab!!! Relief at last? Women, beware. If i could give this company zero stars I would. My driver drove me for almost 45 minutes. He couldnt tell me a fare up front. He didn't know where Cold Spring Harbor Lab was and made me enter the address in his phone. Then for the entire drive he talked about my appearance. He told me I looked young ("14, 16, so young!" I am an employed scientist!!) but that I was beautiful and sexy and he just would not stop even when I was non responsive or changed the topic. There are only so many times you can be hit on in a closed car on an isolated highway but he found a way to keep going the whole ride. I felt threatened enough by driving out into the country with him that I tracked the route to make sure he wasn't kidnapping me. It was an incredibly reviling experience. read more

It took them over an hour to pick me up even though I was only 3 miles away. I called every twenty minutes and was told it would be any minute now. After the driver picked me up he continued to drive away from the train station to pick up more fares even though I told him my train was leaving in ten minutes and I had been waiting outside for an hour. There were 3 taxis sitting outside the train station when we pulled up. It seems the taxis won't venture into town unless they have passengers with them. read more

My 93 year old mother called them and they said a cab would be there in 15 minutes. She waited outside, in the cold, no cab. My son waited instead, no cab. We called again. They claimed the cab had been there. Not true and I told him. Then they said they were busy and would we be willing to wait. I was on the phone at this point (45 minutes later). I asked how long. The answer was that he didn't know. I said how can I tell you if I'm willing to wait if you can't tell me the time. 15 minutes? An hour? Two? He didn't know. Then he said he just wants the answer to one question: will we wait. I said I had just one question too. How long? He said he couldn't tell. They were very busy. Then he told me that he needed to talk to another caller, no doubt another failed taxi. I told him we'd never use them again and would tell everyone how they treat an elderly woman. He didn't care. I have rarely been this angry. I hope that no one ever uses this rude, inept, and lying company again. read more

I was shocked to see so many poor reviews here. I was stuck at NorthShore Univ Hosp, having dismissed the (expensive) car service my husband had engaged to drive me. I called GNT from the hospital lobby and the car arrived within 5 minutes. The driver could not have been more pleasant, polite and professional. I was trying to figure out the best way back to Northport and thought I would have him drive me to Mineola and the LIRR. Seeing I wasn't well, he mentioned the price I would have to pay for the RR ticket, taxi home, etc. In the end, although it was a few dollars more, he drove me all the way home, and I arrived much sooner and feeling much better than I had been. I cannot say how much this gentleman (Stu) made a really awful day end as best it could. I would not hesitate to call them again. read more

I don't know how this company is even still in business. I have reported them mutliple times to the Better Business Bureau. Some of the drivers are polite and that's really all I can say for them. They have stood me up morning, noon, and night. They have caused me to miss trains on several occasions. They sometimes take my number, but they never call to say their drivers will be later than the "five to ten minutes" they tell you on the phone. On the occasion that they do show up, they honk and are impatient. I have waited 30+ minutes outside my house, but if they have to stop for more than a few seconds, they give me attitude. Most recently, after calling twice and waiting nearly 40 minutes, a driver pulled up to me at the train station (after midnight), asked where I needed to go, said he was turning around, and LEFT. SO RUDE. SO UNPROFESSIONAL. Dispatch refused to put me in touch with management. I don't know what kind of idiots are running this company, but I have officially switched to Uber. I hope Uber runs their business into the ground. I would love to see this business wiped off the map. read more

Idiots run this place. I specifically said I needed to pay via credit card (to which they upped the quote by 4%, but that's fine.) Driver takes me to JFK and then demands cash, which i didnt have. He blamed the dispatcher for not sending the right person and he requested I either mail him cash or if there is someone else who could pay, like my parents, he go pick up money from them. I called Austin Fowler, who is evidently 'in charge' of this type of stuff. His response was that I find an ATM in the airport and try to get the driver to return to the airport. It also falls on the driver to pay the company the $50 fare, and so my driver said he is now out of pocket the $50 that he 'owes the company.' These guys are crap employers, bad people, and have zero sense of how to treat customer and or their employees. Don't use them. EVER. read more

Terrible service and rude operator. They sent a cab to get me to take me to the Great Neck train station, and I was outside on the sidewalk in front of a house on a main road. A Great Neck Taxi cab sailed past me, and when I called back to ask what happened they chided me for "not being outside" despite the fact that if I had been any more outside, I would have been in the road itself. They sent two more cabs, both of whom still sailed past without stopping or turning around despite me flailing on the sidewalk. I called back a third time, and this I was heated because I had now missed 3 trains into NYC over about 20 minutes (it was morning, there were expresses); the woman yelled at me then hung up on me. When a called back a fourth time, I completely exploded on the phone. The dispatcher told me it was my problem b/c she'd told me that she put me on hold not hung up on me. I don't like to yell at service folk, but I'd finally lost it by then. That's when I got my cab; at least the cabbie himself was apologetic. The only reason they are getting 2 stars is because the driver had the heat on. It's 20 degrees out. Called them at 3pm to get a ride for a 20min distance for a 330pm appt. No one showed at my hotel in great Neck. I asked the front desk to call after 15 min of waiting. The guy calls them then says they didn't have the request but a cab will show in 2 minutes. 30 MINUTES LATER I am getting into the driver's coworkers cab ( it's 345 now) and she calls the driver to tell him she is gonna take me. I literally hear him tell her not to let me ride with her and that he's 2 blocks away. She kicks me out and he shows up 5 min later with another passenger that he hasn't dropped off yet!!! What the hell kind of operation is happening here?! I get in, tell him I'm in an insane hurry and he slowly pulls out of the driveway. He drives another 2 blocks and kicks the other guy out rudely. I hardly write reviews, but I want to put out my experience with Great Neck Taxi. Then I wrote this big long post and I reread it and I sounded like every other disgruntled poster on yelp. Bottom line was that I left a phone in a car and it took me hours to get it back instead of it being easy. The driver/dispatcher on more than one occasion seemed to push the option of the driver delivering it to me for a $10 fee which is ridiculous since I would be just paying for the guy to drop it off on his way back from another fare. They should have made it easy for me to come pick up or just dropped it off to me hooking me up. Definitely they should not have tried to squeeze me for a few more dollars. And the driver had such an attitude when I came to pick it up. So much so that I want to write this nasty review. I personally will never in my life set foot in another Great Neck Taxi again as long as I live. i called to complain to a supervisor and was told he is part owner of the company. So that's my crappy experience in a nutshell. Possibly I was off because of the lost phone drama maybe made me stressed out. Still though, there was no need to make it such a hassle and unpleasant to get it back to where any gratitude I may have had was gone completely.
