I love seeing the Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Snow White, and other Disney nutcrackers. Plus, the Phantom of the Opera, and the Sound of Music nutcracker(s).

No invisible kids, no excuses. I was so excited to finally check it out. After a long ferry ride from Stehekin and a not-so-long drive from Chelan to Leavenworth, I thought we had made it just in time to sneak in before closing. Sadly, I found out the hard way that the museum stops selling tickets 30 minutes before closing (noted on the website - oops) and we arrived five minutes too late. I was disappointed but it just wasn't meant to be. What was meant to be, however, was the gift shop. And let me tell you - this is not your average souvenir shop! It's more like a mini preview of the museum as there were hundreds of nutcrackers on display for purchase and/or admiration. There were traditional German nutcrackers, themed ones (sports, professions, holidays), and even some that were so cute and whimsical. I spent a little time marveling at the variety and craftsmanship. Soooo yes, I got my nutcracker fix even without a ticket to the full museum! From what I could see (and from their website), this place has over 9,000 nutcrackers from more than 50 countries with artifacts dating all the way back to the Roman Empire. It's the kind of collection rarely found in the United States and the museum's mission to preserve and educate about the history and artistry of nutcrackers is honestly so cool. If I'm ever in Leavenworth again, I would try to time it better to try to actually visit the museum. For now, I'm giving a solid four stars because while I didn't get to explore the full museum, the sheer delight of the gift shop, the ambiance, and the nutcracker overload still made it a great stop. Another unique gem tucked in the heart of this Bavarian town, errr, Leavenworth!

I loved the chaps made from Buffalo hair, and the old organs that won't play unless one pumps the foot petals. Of course, the outside village is an amazing collection of settlers' cabins and other structures, all with period-appropriate furnishings. I'm in a wheelchair; I found the museum to be very accessible. Admission is $10-12 at most, and Veterans are free. But seriously, consider making a donation anyway. These wonderful places require so much upkeep. We don't want to lose them!

The front desk worker was a bit brusque in their interactions, however there were a few of us entering at once, so it might have just been a bit overwhelming for them. As someone on a budget, the price was a little on the high side, however nothing exorbitant. The exhibits were easy to navigate and good use was made of the available space. Artifacts were meticulously laid out both inside the main museum and in the pioneer village. The Great Northern Railway car was open to exploration, which was very neat. The whole pioneer village was well maintained and a great way to get some context for what life in Cashmere was like in the past. I noted a few bloopers on my visit, one concerning geology and one concerning currency. Some people I know love bloopers, in Hollywood they are something that might go wrong in constructing/putting together a movie and are visible in the final product, and they feel it can add to the overall experience. However, I am not currently the biggest fan of bloopers, though I used to enjoy them more, perhaps I am just a bit rusty on their enjoyment value.

We lots of discipline, we got our tickets and entered the incredible children's museum. You walk into a woodland wonderland and it only gets better from there. We are pretty partial to our home museum in Cincinnati and haven't found a better one but this comes very close. Theres so many interactive areas. There is a treehouse down toward the right when you walk in along with a small town. A walk on airplane that allows kids to work with parcels, a train engine you can walk into with model train set behind. A water station as well as stairs to the outdoor portion with an extensive jungle gym, musical instruments, mini golf, and an excavation site with dinosaurs! They had science exhibits for older kids and younger kids alike. A toddler area as well. You could keep any kid toddler to about 10 years of age entertained for hours. Parking isn't free unless you can snag a coveted spot in front but it's not too pricey. Admission is $22 a person. They have last half hour free during summer which is nice. Staff are dressed in purple and nothing but kind and friendly. There is a cafe at the top (well, a "food truck" theme) and tables and benches to eat. Looked like you could pack your own food. Also looked like you could host birthday parties and field trips. All in all, impressive children's museum. We can't wait to come back!

The building was the location of the last operated assisted, switchboard phone company in the Pacific Northwest Bell system. Very small museum, but holds quite a number of interesting displays.

It's also located right alongside a trail in town. Lots to see and not enough time if you're quickly passing through. I will be back to spend a bit more time exploring the museum and the town.

Right next door to the "famous" Roslyn Cafe…read more This small, well kept museum houses a collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the height of the town's Coal Mining boom. It is interesting to read and see how much history a tiny little town like Roslyn actually has. The museum runs on donations so remember to put a little something in the donation box if you stop through. They also have restrooms. There is so much more historical and natural attractions that Roslyn has to offer besides the typical "Northern Exposure" experience. The museum is focused on the town's actual history. I didn't have time on my trip, but if you do, I suggest taking a visit to the amazing looking historical Roslyn Cemeteries. There are 24 small cemeteries tucked into the woods on the hill not far from town. Brochures are available at the museum.

Loved how MOPOP described the cultural movement built upon five foundational elements: MC'ing, DJ'ing, Breakdancing, Graffiti and Self: Identity, Community, Political Awareness and the use of Hip Hop to show one's expression. Viewing this took me back in time and brought back so many memories. Also liked the other parts of the museum: the two story guitar art piece, "If VI was IX", interactive Sound Labs for music as well as the indie video games. But what stood out was the Infinite Worlds of Science Fiction: Star Wars to Star Trek to Aliens and Back to the Future. Definitely a must see!

Wild to be here now and the Cobain exhibit is gone after all these years, and so has Frank (RIP); architectural genius. The building still hits. The architecture alone is worth it. Sci-fi, horror, and fantasy exhibits carry the experience. At this point, I'd come back for the rotating shows, Rebels & Icons on the 15th, and the upstairs Lounge Bar. Low key hidden, solid pop art food/drinks, complimentary chips with their own seasoning, and great service. The museum should separate this bar on Yelp, I want to review this separately.(hint) That combo makes the membership make sense.

Seemingly surprised that anyone would wander in on a random Saturday, she handed me the mimeographed flyer and welcomed me to tour the house. The house is filled with art (for sale) which supports the museum. Nothing special about the house, furnishings or architecture - but if you like wandered through other people's houses, seeing how they lived - its a perfectly, modestly entertaining way to spend 20 minutes in Cle Elum.

However, the upper valley museum disappointed me with its customer service, curation, display layout, and souvenir store. On June 30, I was greeted by no staff during its business hour. I had to wonder around for ticket sale assistance and brief introduction. As a result, I found a staff member and paid $3 cash and no recommendation though I asked. No recommended visiting consequences later "helped' me read materials in a reversed chronological order. Noted this museum is only a room that has lot display boards on the wall and crowded artifacts and objects inside. I do not mind long reading, but I cannot stand poor curation and lack of visual aids and examples. When I was there, exhibit of vintage accordions was featured with printed Wikipedia pages. In addition, all city history display info offers nothing unique. I could learn about the town inside out by reading online. Why bother paying a physical visit in-person? Before finishing my disappointing visit, I took a look at the store corner. All postcards and photos were mixed together in a box for $0.50 per piece. Yes, I could choose any of them at any gift shop at downtown Leavenworth for $0.33 each. Thanks to gift shop's well-organized display hangers, I could have saved time on sorting and looking hard. Yes, I finished my museum visit within 30 minutes. This was ironic because the museum staff member warned me of LOT reading ahead. Yes, I wept for my $3 admission. No, if I could have chosen again, I probably will go to nearby Cashmere pioneer village, at least for its efforts to put an interactive experience together.
