I always ordered the sesame chicken it was the best around nice and crunchy with a little kick, always fresh tasting, I will miss it. Someone else took over and last night will be my last time ordering from there, gave them the benefit of the doubt the past three orders, the sesame chicken is now soft mush with no flavor. She found a maggot so we brought everything back and got a refund. The family is nice and outside of general takeout, I'll oftentimes order their catered half party trays for a last minute get together. They always get it done quickly. We called back to ask for a refund and they laughed saying it was something else I ate. I literally did not eat anything else that fucking day. Do NOT eat here. If you plan to do it at your OWN RISK. Absolutely disgusting place. They do not devein their shrimp and when my husband and I reported this, the cashier had a very bad attitude and denied that the shrimp was deveined. When asked if the shrimp was not deveined, the cashier did not acknowledge my question and instead asked if I wanted my money back or new food. I think it's good for what is it, fast and cheap take-out. We are repeat customers. The guy on the phone is quick and a little short which can come off as rude but I don't think he means anything by it. Delivery is fast. Food is packaged well. The Good news: The food is really REALLY good and the drivers are usually friendly and amazingly fast service in most cases, deliveries included. Prices are pretty good and consistent with others in the area. The Bad news: Owners /Managers / Phone answerers / Inside help; are flat out the rudest people you will ever meet. They are just super hateful. Usually their haste and rudeness and poor mastery of the English language sadly affects phone orders and they just DO NOT CARE. This is not the place for custom orders or uncertainty. Know what you want when you call, and do not vary from the menu or its a total crap-shoot.. Crap being the keyword. You have about 6 seconds on the phone with these hateful people and that's it. Also, inside the restaurant is pretty dumpy, if you ever go there for pick up, be forewarned. My wife likes their food so we have been going there for years. They know us both and after years of being a weekly client there, the main man still treats us with extreme contempt. I have been going here since 1996. I do not know if it has been the same owners all along or not. When ordering by phone, it never quite sounds like they understand English, but they only once made a small mistake, and they were quick to deliver the correct item. I have been in the restaurant and the staff are polite and the place is very clean. Menu is huge and prices are good. The lunch specials are a bargain, but if you really like soup, you may want to order a separate soup as the portion of soup with the lunch specials is small, however, the prices are really low, so it is understood. Everything is fresh and tasty and I feel this is the best Chinese Restaurant in the area. When I order by phone for a delivery, I always ask them how long and it is usually around 45 minutes and they are always accurate on the amount of time it will take for the order to arrive. read more

We ordered take out from Great Wall for the first time last weekend and it was great. We had a large group of 10 very discerning, picky Chinese food foodies and everyone was pleased with their choices from Great Wall. The egg rolls were particularly tasty and not greasy. We also had the steamed dumplings which were delicious. We tried a variety of long standing favorites and all passed with flying colors. Even the healthy eaters in the group were able to get the steamed versions of what they wanted. Tasty! Of all the Chinese restaurants around, this one stands out. I have tried them all, even some twenty minutes away, but i make the drive back to here every time I want shrimp and broccoli or fried dumplings. The shrimp is full sized, tender and well cleaned. My hubby says the General Tso 's is the best around- real chunks of quality chicken in a perfect sauce. We have eaten hear for over five years and the food is consistent. read more

Better than run-of-the-mill American "Chinese" food but still American Chinese food. Not authentic but late night after a few beers and the wife is asleep and I'm hungry this does the job. Seriously so good! I live in NYC and come down to Neptune to see my boyfriend. Great Wall has quickly become my favorite Chinese restaurant at the shore, and my all time favorite when it comes to there general tso! I'm a vegetarian and their tofu is always perfectly cooked little chunks. And the sauce is one of the best I've had. And they're so consistent. Highly recommended! Oh and I ordered their dumplings for the first time in a while and they have gotten SO GOOD! read more

If I could give less than one star I would. The food was raw when it was delivered to me, so I politely called back and asked if I could have something else. To which they told me no and to bring the food back myself to the restaurant because they are busy. Then when I got there to return my food for something else, they then responded the food was fine and to take my food back. I stated again can I have something else because this was undercooked. He said fine, but I need to pay 5 dollars more for my food. When I received my new order, I was sarcastily asked if the food was cooked enough now. Poor customer service. Been going to Great Wall for 10+ years. We order there probably twice per month. In all this time we have never had a bad meal. Our order has never been wrong, and the food is the best in the area. One star is a very generous evaluation for this disaster of an establishment. If there was a way to credit them with a negative appraisal, the rating would be more accurate. I ordered lunch to be delivered, and spoke to a seemingly nice man, explaining that I do not eat meat, and asked to substitute the pork friend rice for vegetable fried rice in the combination I ordered. I was told this would be accommodated and was left to patiently wait for my food to arrive. An hour an a half later, I was brought cold pork fried rice, and called to alert the restaurant of the error. I was told it was exactly as I had ordered it, and barraged with non sequitur questions like "why would I make something you wouldn't like?", after becoming thoroughly frustrated with the dialogue I simply asked for a refund, for which I was told "bring the food in and get a refund" or "wait two hours and the delivery driver will be back for a refund". No thanks. They didn't even give me a fortune cookie, but I'm guessing it would read: "Great Wall Chinese Restaurant is a joke". The food was cold, and prepared incorrectly, even my waste basket seemed to recoil when I tossed it away, and the service was atrocious, so if you want to wait around for nothing but a headache and empty stomach, this is the place for you. read more

The food is the best around, but the owner is rude to customers and if your order is wrong, he calls you a liar. I placed a delivery order and they didn't give me any white rice! The food and selections are quite good, but everything tastes the same. The prices are very different on line than they are at the restaurant. I have had take out there serveral times and the last time I had a bad reaction. I noticed the food preparation in the back to not be as sanitary as it should be. Meat was stored in bins that are too large and food sitting at room temperature for a while. Lots of food in cardboard boxes as well. Not my first choice anymore in the area. read more
