Our first experience ordering from Oriental Empire was pretty good. We ate Orange chicken, pork fried rice, crab rangoons and mini vegetable spring rolls. The orange chicken was cooked well, not overdone and very tasty. It's just spicy enough. The pork fried rice was flavorful and not dry at all. There were a lot of fresh veggies in it as well. The spring rolls were tasty, but a bit under cooked, so they were soft and greasy. Crab rangoons were good, but a little under cooked as well. The staff was also very good while taking the order and when we picked it up. All in all, we will definitely be ordering again. The food was tasty enough to go back for more. read more

If you've been disappointed too many times and given up on other Chinese restaurants in the area, or just looking for a new place to try, this is the place! I haven't tried too many items here as I'm a creature of habit, but I've eaten here many many times and never had a bad meal. My personal favorite is the pepper steak with onion. My wife likes the shrimp pad thai. The wonton soup is about the best I've ever tasted and the vegetable spring rolls are dynamite. The salads are good too. I haven't tried any of the fusion dishes nor do I eat sushi so i can't comment on those but I have confidence just about anything you order here will be above average and fresh made to order. While most of the other Chinese restaurants in the area serve "standard fare" food in terms of quality, Oriental Empire is a cut above (or two). You get gourmet quality food for a very reasonable price. The staff is wonderful too. Unfortunately it's take out and deliver only right now, but my wife and I always enjoyed dining in. Simply delicious food. I picked up food here for the first time yesterday because I was in the area and was looking for Chinese food. Since we are still living with the pandemic it was take out only, which was totally fine and understandable. I ordered a lunch combo of General Tso's chicken and wonton soup to bring home and share with my husband. The wontons were one of the most flavorful ones we have had and the take out container for the lunch combo was separated into two compartments; one for the main dish and one for the pork fried rice. This was such a fantastic surprise...most places just put everything into one open container and by the time you get home to eat it the rice is usually soggy from whatever the meal leaks into it. To have the rice in perfect condition, not soggy or greasy is such a plus. We enjoyed the food so much that I even returned back today to order more for dinner...and we live over 20 minutes away. The pork fried dumplings were outstanding and the Beef Chow Ho fun was so flavorful and tender. Their food is not greasy at all and has such great flavor! Although I must confess, being Asian, I am weary of restaurants that have the following key word(s): Oriental, Pandas, Good, Express, .... You get the idea. I find it's usually not authentic places. Firstly, when I spoke to the waitress, I asked her about that. I personally never heard of this. As she was trying to say what it was, I just asked her if it was Jung-zee? She said "yes". I to,d her, that's not wrapped in red leaf. That's wrapped in bamboo leaf. She had a nervous look and said, "that's what it is." I ordered it to see how authentic it could be. For an entree, I ordered traditional ma po tofu while my friend ordered sesame chicken. We both opted for a salad and the entrees were served with roast pork fried rice. $2 if I switched it over to white rice. You're kidding, right? Our appetizer came and it was small. I split it with my friend because she never had it. The sticky rice was a tad dry. Very little Chinese sausage and the finest slivers of shiitake mushrooms. They truly were minced. Then our lunch dishes came. My friend really loved her chicken. I love her but to be truthful, she loves anything fried. I tried a piece. Meh. It could have been crispier. I had my dish which was suppose to be on the spicy side. I saw the red peppers but no heat. It was like a tease. While my fried rice was nice and hot (temperature wise), my tofu was not hot at all. It was warm at best. I've got an hour to my name and 20 minutes left to eat. I could afford to lose more time by asking them to reheat my dish. I did note other people who came after us were receiving their dishes sooner than ours. All in all, they're new and I'm willing to give them a chance to work out the kinks. As for the lunch, mine was a disappointment. Will I come back? Only if my friend really really wants to go there. If I have a say, I'd ask her to chose another .... Oh heck, I'll chose.... Doing a review after three visits. Including a a family dine in. Really like the place. Food is very fresh and made to order. Standouts for me are fresh eggplant, chicken, and hot and sour soup. My teens like their pork dumplings. Will be back and update with more menu items. Decor is surprisingly tasteful. As a sitdown restaurant accommodations are basic. They do big pickup business. Pricing is very good by Red Bank standards. Lunch special $8 to $10. They charge for their Japanese tea which is excellent. Biggest problem is dining room is loud. The pop music doesn't really fit very well and adds to the overall volume level. Owner should add some sound suppression materials to the ceiling. Even with just a few people it loud and one hears way to many details of others conversations. The beautiful tile work and hard shiny surfaces come at a price acoustically. Service is excellent. My 5-star rating is based solely on the Chinese food here (not the sushi). For a few years after moving here we try the different Chinese places in the area with no success. Coming from Philadelphia, we had a lot of great places to choose from. Finally, we discovered Oriental Empire! We have ordered from here several times. The delivery is always quick but more importantly, the food is always right on point. Flavors are great, vegetables seem fresh and the dishes don't seem to be drowned in sauce. There are a few dishes that I wish they would add to the menu but they will make them if you request. (Kung pao shrimp, tofu & broccoli with black bean sauce!) Both of these dishes are delicious along with the wonton soup, coconut seafood soup, pad Thai, lo mein and steamed dumplings. Some of these may seem like standard dishes but I've been to plenty of other places in the area that just haven't gotten them quite right.
