Fortune Palace - The #6 Combo; sweet & sour pork, chicken chow mein, almond chicken, and vegetable chop suey. Tasty!

Food was just eh. Got the chicken fried rice and the #3 for one person. It's not awful just not…read moregreat. Prices are super cheap though, and service is good. Huge portion sizes. Ambiance is okay.

Our last night in Prince George and I was craving Chinese. Fortunately, Fortune Palace was close to…read morethe hotel, and we got there early enough because it got busy FAST. The interior is very typical decor with lots of seating for families or groups. The staff is friendly and efficient. We were shown a table and menus brought quickly. I ordered the #6 combination plate that had sweet & sour pork, chicken chow mein, almond chicken and vegetable chop suey. The food arrived fairly quickly. Everything was hot and tasty. I was a little bummed they don't offer chili oil, but did have sriracha available. The sweet & sour pork was a little on the tough side, but the sauce was tangy and flavorful. The almond chicken was tender with crispy breading. Nothing special with the chow mein - noodles were a little over done, but flavor was good. Veggie chop suey was just that; some flash stir fried vegetables. Overall, there's nothing overly "wow" about this place, but it is good and the portions are plentiful. If we had the means, we could've taken the leftovers with us. BUT, we're traveling the next morning, so.... Prices are decent - typical of the area. We won't mind coming back next time we're around.

Northern Palace Restaurant - Family dinner - all good.

Okay, I'll say it. I like Northern Palace! Sure, it's not "traditional" Chinese fare - quite…read morewesternized, I know. BUT, it's flavorful, it's plentiful and (for the price) very reasonable. We were in a large group so ordered one of their family dinner options plus some egg foo yung and extra rice. Everything came fairly quickly and filled the big, round table we were seated at. The Lazy Susan in the middle was handy and used well. The egg foo yung I wanted was excellent! It had great flavor and a tangy sauce. The other dishes I tried, chow mein, egg roll, lemon chicken, sweet & sour pork, beef & broccoli were all equally tasty and stayed hot. The only fault I could find was the pork was a little tough. Everything else, though, was really good. The restaurant has been around a while, so it's a little dark and dank, but looks every bit like what you'd expect a Chinese restaurant to look like. The service is super friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our family gathering and will come back again.

The worst, most bland Chinese food I've ever had. We paid 15 dollars for bland, boring chow mein…read moreand some truly terrible fried pork. Looking at the menu and seeing how dismally north americanized it was for the price, I asked them if they could make.my food spicy..and they said no! They gave me a side of siracha instead. If you're going to charge sit-down prices, at least have something interesting or maybe even authentic on the menu!
