This foster family agency is horrible. It changes the pay dates for foster parents without notice and does not pay their foster parents on time. Imagine having direct deposit and you have certain bills to pay on a certain date and then the money is not deposited by your employer. That is what you would have to deal with if you are a foster parent for Greater Hope Foundation. They are very unprofessional. Greater Hope is a very rapidly frowing organization. The pay is the lowest I've ever heard of, but I wanted to avoid commuting so I accepted. The culture within the agency is very family oriented and supportive. The feeling inside the office is very upbeat and friendly. I worked as a Clinical Social Worker. There are some really wonderful foster parents providing great and loving homes for the children. However there are some less than marginal foster homes and the agencys goal is to support and educate these foster parents and hopefully improve the care provided in these homes. In the few weeks i worked there before quitting, i learned they have a tendancy to underreport to DCFS for fear of having a foster home put on hold. Wih this same mentality, they provide therapeutic individual counseling services for these children. In my opinion this is not an ethical practice because there is a bias, and it is why I resigned. When I resigned, they underpaid me. When I contacted their HR manager to politely bring it to her attention, I was told they have been doing it this way for 12 years and that she was not going to argue with me. The method they used to calculate the pay is clearly incorrect according to the Fair Labor Standards Act description of how to pay daily pay to a salaried employee. There appears to be a great deal of employee turnover and are struggling to keep positions filled. read more
