I had a great experience here and would 100% return. The wait to be seen was maybe 15 minutes at around 11 o'clock in the afternoon. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, everyone was masked up, but by far the best aspect was the nurse team. Teresa and Jenny took great care of me, and they were very, very thorough, went above and beyond to make sure I was as comfortable as possible, and there was no doubt left in my mind that they did a great job. They answered all of my questions and were very clear about the nexts steps I should take at home. Overall time spent here was a little over an hour, and the longest time I spent waiting, which was really only maybe 20 minutes, was after I had received treatment. I hate I had to mark 1 star to leave -0 stars review. Stay away from Greater Mobile Urgent Care. They are racist and condescending! Take your money and insurance somewhere. As a Black family, we left this urgent care feeling dismissed and deeply disappointed. My son has a significant cut on his hand and was in visible pain. He was evaluated, we were charged, and then told to use over the counter medication. No meaningful pain management options were offered. When I asked about pain control, I was told they "do not give out pain medication." That response felt dismissive. It should not feel like you have to beg for equality in healthcare simply because you are Black. It should not feel like you have to advocate twice as hard just for your pain to be taken seriously. Black and Brown families already face documented disparities in pain management in healthcare. It's disgusting! They balentily lied about their facilities not writing prescriptions for pain medicines for any patients. Clear discrimination against my son! If this facility has strict prescribing policies, that should be clearly communicated before billing families. Every patient deserves equitable, respectful, and compassionate care regardless of race. EXTREMELY unprofessional staff. I came into the office and told them what condition I was coming in for; waited for a long time. Then the doctor tells me they don't treat my condition and that I need to go to the health department. Why did the front desk people not tell me that? To top it off, I come from a very traditional Indian household. The doctor (Indian) tells me where I need to go and I told him that my family would rather me go to a specific medical facility instead of the health department. The doctor proceeds to tell me that I am a grownup and need to go to the health department. Then tells me that he is also Indian and proceeds to remind me that I am a grownup. Literally zero respect. SO UNPROFESSIONAL. Do not go here. Call and ask to speak with a physician; NOT the front desk people. Preface: I'm a medical professional, allied health professor and formally managed an urgent care. I spent 24 hrs at home hydrating with water and electrolyte, brat diet and zofran. I had 6 episodes diarrhea, 3 episode vomiting, tachycardia and hypertension. This morning I was clearly dehydrated and unable to resolve it at home. I went in to rule out flu and other causes due to my preexisting medical conditions that put my liver at risk. Mainly, I needed fluids. They told me they do not do send out labs or iv fluid there but if I want IV fluid I can do their rehydrate lab (a paid service that cost as much as the ER copay) If you carry the supplies, my insurance covers the service and I clinical present with a need for the service then why would I bypass my insurance and pay for your elective hydration boutique style marketing tactics. I understand they are so busy they can get away with this new scam so they increase revenue by increasing turnover rate since labs and fluids increase time the room is taken up in a manner not worth the cost. They picked the wrong patient to pull it with. Soon as I told them I would be notifying my PCP and calling my insurance (military), as well as, I want it documented I was refused services that could be provided without alternative clinical justification they changed their tone and got me fluids which fixed me right up as I knew it would. I hate that healthcare has come to this and so many patients are getting scammed. read more

They were only concerned with giving a Flu and Covid test even though I knew I didn't have either one of those. They both came back negative, so they gave me a prescription for Chlo-Hist (no prescription is required for this) for my cough. They should have given me an actual prescription cough med like Bromfed but they don't care about actually making you better. They just care about getting paid by insurance. On top of that, they wouldn't let me pay my copay in office, despite me knowing what I owed, and instead told me to wait for an invoice thus causing extra and unnecessary steps. read more

3/21/23 I paid $140.00 (self-pay) for the visit, $15.00 for a Strep Throat swab. Shame on me for coming in exactly when I was feeling sick. Just had Strep a month earlier and was treated at the same facility. Listened to their doc and got 2 Covid Test Kits. Negative on both. Went back two days later, 3/23/23, for a Strep Test and they told me I had to pay again! I have valve replacements and I cannot afford to be septic. Rip off medical company, they charged me $76 to put on an Ace Bandage/wrap on my knee...it must have cost $2 and took 20 seconds to put it on. They also did an unnecessary glucose test. Do not go here!! I would leave 0 stars if I could. We used them back in March. All I needed was an x-ray because I was sure my daughter had broken her arm playing sports. When I walked through the door, they said their x-Ray was broke. What type of an urgent care stays open without an x-Ray machine?! How are they suppose to diagnose and treat people? I went here again in July with laryngitis turned sinus infection, blowing and coughing up yellow and green sputum. The PA that saw me stood as far away from as possible and wasn't interested in anything I had to say. I told her I was already on Albuterol, Mucinex and Flonase without relief. She told me it was viral and the best she could do was offer me a steroid shot!!! I worked the next day and went to my ED. I had a double ear infection by then!!! I have been a patient here for years. YEARS. Mainly because until recently there weren't a lot of options in this area. The front desk staff is probably the worse part. They are always unprofessional and can't come up from their own conversations to be bothered with you. Once you finally get to the back you never know who you are going to see because they have a Ferris wheels worth of Dr.s that rotate through there. I have been mis-diagnosed more then it has been a correct diagnosis, BUT, today took the cake. They finally {after 9 phone calls, 2 emails and I had to drive up there to get an appt } they told me while standing there in the office they would call us back. WELL they did. Came in complaining of fever and chills and asked for a Covid and Flu test, when that came back negative they took a pcr and sent me home, with a fever that had been going on all day, I had to call them back for results and was informed that I was fine even though I had a fever all the next morning. Even admitted to an error on the pcr but had no intention of telling me to come back in. It took Compass on shillinger one negative test and one peak in my throat to tell I had a sinus infection. So I suffered with this a whole day because a twenty year old PA couldn't tell what a sinus infection looks like. Last time I go to greater, it's worth the extra drive to Compass where there are real doctors who listen when there patients complain of real symptoms. read more

It seems this is a problem that reoccurs in these comments. I showed up about 2:55, and was turned away because they were "slammed". I get it, sometimes it gets busy, but it looks like there's a habitual issue at this location and may have a doctor that doesn't care, staff that's lazy, or both. You should think about changing your hours so that you take your last patient one hour before you "close" or prepare your staff to have the possibility to stay a little late in certain situations. We're not coming here to pick up a gallon of milk, we're here because we have a problem and sometimes that can't be scheduled. Maybe you could "triage" patients that arrive at that time and determine if they could wait till the next day or need a little extra care. It's urgent care, so get with the program or stop providing care. The ER is NOT cheap when you're in pain! Guess I'll just have to suffer till the next possible opportunity. Waiting room half full when I arrived but was cleared out in less than 30 minutes. I thought I was about to be rushed through, given a glance and sent on my way without any real in-depth exam. The nurse came in took my vitals, asked many questions about my condition and seemed genuinely concerned. She left and said the doctor would be in in just a bit. Less than a minute later Dr. Robert Vickers came in and talked to me for a few minutes and was very pleasant. I figured I had something that was very common but he didn't treat it like that. They are self absorbed in conversing among themselves. Also the facility is not as clean as it use to be. I normally would get there when they open. Even though there website says they take Medicaid they don't. They turned my 9 month old son and me away on Sunday because he has Medicaid. His face and throat were swollen and I thought he might be having some kind of allergy attack. This place was the closest to me... I ended up driving to the emergency room next. The people at the hospital said they should have verified that my son could breath and could make it to the hospital before they sent us away regardless of me being able to pay the $175 for the cost or not. The doctors and staff were unbelievable. I went in for myself and my son and couldn't have been more impressed. We were walkin patients with no appointment and we greeted warmly, the girl at the front even gave m y son a color book and a bottle of water. The doctors were informative and listened to me and about my concerns, helped ease my sons fears and answered all my questions without making me feel rushed. My son even got a popsicle upon leaving.
