My wife has taken a few of their cooking classes. I decided to sign up for two but one was full. The one I attended was in April of this year. It was on "Fresh-Picked Desserts" It was excellent overall: Good set up, great instructor (Chef Hannah Steege), very good food, relaxed atmoshpere, fun. One recipe that I have tried since the class is Frest Fruit Minestrone and Frozen Yogurt. Excellent but what helped was Grebe's having vanilla in the bean from Madagascar available to complete these fabulous dessert. We decided to serve this to family while on vacation in the Black Hills. However we forgot the recipe. My wife called Grebe's from South Dakota. Suzie, the person who runs the school, called us back and gave us the recipe over the phone. This is great service: Kudos to Grebe's! The classes are held right at Grebe's starting a little after closing time. read more

My daughter planned a private cooking class with Erin as part of a bridal shower. Erin planned a full course Vegan menu to accommodate the bride. The bridal party had a wonderful experience! Thank you Erin and Grebe's!!! read more

History

Established in 1946.

Grebe's was founded in 1946 by Arthur and Esther Grebe. The main focus of the business was selling and repairing Case farm machinery. The philosophy was to operate with integrity, family values, quality products and fair prices. In 1948, the Case farm machinery franchise was sold in favor of becoming a hardware business. In 1995, Grebe's purchased the Buch family's power equipment business, which was founded in 1948. In 2005, we sold the hardware inventory to provide more opportunity for our Appliance, Power Equipment, Chef Center and Grill departments to grow to a level that made us the leaders in North Central Wisconsin as a family-owned three-generation business. Today, Grebe's employs 35 people. In 2007, City Pages ran a survey on retail stores. Their readers rated Grebe's as the #1 place to shop! It was an honor to receive the award, and we intend to maintain that same level of customer satisfaction for years to come.
