I really want to support small, local business and you'll find good food here - but you may find the value a little lacking depending on whether or not you see your plates predominantly occupied by carbs as value :). I likely will not return, given the many other options offering better value up and down the street, but the quality is good. === 2. FOOD Calamari Platter ($26.95) I love calamari and the platter included a decent amount of calamari, prepared well. You get a choice of starch (rice or potatoes) and get LOTS of it, and plenty of pita bread, and a choice of Caesar or Greek salad. There is a lot of cheese and croutons on the Caesar accompaniment so depending on how you feel about that - you may need to ask them to go light on them :) Chicken Skewer Platter ($24.95) Five or six big-bite chunks of tender succulent chicken await you on a skewer....with all of the same things mentioned in the calamari platter (minus the calimari of course) - including LOTS of starch! Absolutely delicious! We tried Greek n' Go and we were blown away. The food was fresh, flavourful, and made with care. The chicken souvlaki was juicy, the tzatziki was perfectly garlicky, and the portions were generous. You can really taste the love and tradition in their cooking. First i would like to start with i am old, not senile and freaking stupid. i ordered from here so many times... at one point it was 2 times a week. Got a couple of bad orders in a row and decided to call the store. Owner said to come by and pick up another order free. I went there 2 wks later as i don't drive and was told there was nothing written down for me. Alrighty then. Month after that i was craving gyros and gave them another try. Was not bad but not what i had become accustomed to from them and the meat was cold. Fast forward to today (about 4 months since last order). Craving a gyros and greek salad, i decided to give them another try. Well, i shouldn't have. i only get meat and sauces on my gyros...no veggies. Gyros had some very bland white sauce (almost like it was PLAIN greek yogurt) with absolutely no flavor - as greek yogurt does. Meat had surprisingly no flavor (dont know how thats possible with the way the meat is cooked), and on top of that, the pita was spongey but rubbery like it had been re warmed or something. i don't know. Now we get to the greek salad. dang. i opened the box and there was big mound of white on top of it...great i thought that's a lot of feta which i absolutely love. NOPE. It's greek yogurt all over the top and only a small bit of feta. (I don't see well and is why i said im old, not senile and stupid). White, greek yogurt on greek salad? Where's the oil and whatever else they use on a GREEK salad?? Also alot of the ribs of the lettuce were included... OK enough i thought. Called the owner and she told me that i must not have eaten there before cause it's always been the same. NO it isn't. Was NOT offered anything...not even an apology. She also made out like she didn't know me - even after i told her she gave me her personal phone number. Heck we even texted each other. So there's my long rant/review. This is very disappointing to me as greek food is one of my very favorite food. They say that everything tastes better when someone else makes it. Agreed but i will stick to the way i cook it as this store is a very hard NO for me. read more

My lovely girlfriend and I were utterly famished. We were desperately craving the taste of authentic Greek cuisine. After a lengthy discussion we decided to take a chance on a new place we hadn't heard of. This restaurant is essentially a small shack on the waterfront level with some outdoor picnic table seating. It's conveniently located next to a large pay lot, so there's plenty of parking. When we stopped by after driving off the ferry on a Friday evening, it was relatively quiet and we were able to place our order with only one party ahead. Since the fries are freshly fried, it took a couple of minutes to assemble. Classic Poutine, Large ($15 CAD) - As a classic poutine, this is a pretty simple dish. The fries are clearly fresh cut, with even a little potato heel in the mix. They are cleanly double fried, allowing the requisite tenderness on the interior combined with the crisp exterior, even holding up to the gravy poured over the top. The gravy is pretty standard. It seems to be from a powdered base, so it's mainly there to contribute sodium rather than any robust beefy or vegetal flavors. They add a ton of cheese curds on top, enough to cover the entire surface of the metal tray the poutine comes in. The curds are fresh, milky tasting, and fabulously squeaky. They are still distinct with some substance instead of being melted into a puddle from the hot gravy. (4/5) While I can't really compare L'Authentique to anything in Montreal (seeing that I've never visited), I thought it was pretty good. It's clearly good enough to satisfy my poutine craving at least! Washrooms - No public ones, but if it's not too busy, the staff allows customers to use the staff washroom.

They're strict on time - I made a 12pm reservation and they refused to seat me even though it was not busy at all at 11am opening and made me wait until exactly 12pm. A bit harsh when I contacted the hotel and made a note to the restaurant for my arrival details. I got the traditional afternoon tea for 1 so just tea and 3 tiers of scones, small bites, and desserts. It was quite nice of them to refill the entire tier of savory small bites even though I only requested 3, so that was a nice touch that somewhat made up the poor first impression. You can request more of certain items for free, just don't abuse the system basically The food with the 1 tier refill was more than enough food for me - the service was decent as they checked up on me during the meal. I nicely asked for the tea gift box that is only reserved for anniversaries and they accommodated, but this will almost unlikely happen in many situations so your mileage may vary. I did wait 20 minutes for the gift box as it wasn't a priority for them, so do what you will to see if it is worth the time (I at least was not in a rush)

It's sweet and earthy, albeit not necessarily the most heavily ube flavored. (4/5) Original Ube Ensaymada ($2.99) - This bun, extremely fluffy and nice to eat, has an interesting spiral pattern construction at least when viewed from the bottom, but it's not apparent inside the bun. The bun is sweet and again there's not too much ube flavor. If it wasn't purple I'm not sure I could identify it as ube in flavor. (4/5) Classic Pandesal ($0.99) - Lightly sweet, great soft texture. It's pandesal, not too much else to say. (4/5) Overall the baked goods Friends & Family Bake sells are pretty good. Most of the items are soft, fluffy and sweet, perfect for breakfast or a dessert.

The line moves quickly and there were a mix of tourists and regulars. I got a latte and the A Buttkicker. The sandwich was divine. The bacon was thick cut. Breakfast bun was perfectly toasted and soft. The highlight was definitely the addition of the hot sauce. Absolutely hit all the right spots.
