I can't rate the food, but for the price value and quality of the Tirimisu, it's just average. I ordered it to-go because I wanted to eat it in my hotel room right next door to the Restaurant. I was surprised to find the size was extremely modest considering how much I paid. I was expecting twice the size to be honest. it was just okay. Superb Greek cuisine in Victoria, across from the Doubletree and Marriott hotels. We stopped by for dinner and they accommodated us even though we didn't have reservations. Here are some of the highlights of our visit. Service: I usually start by describing the meal, but the service from Sarah and her colleagues was so exceptional it must be mentioned first. From giving us recommendations, to warm and friendly conversation, to efficient service - everything was top notch. Sarah swapped out my flat beer for a cocktail with no fuss, and one of her colleagues found and returned our teens jacket - we saw her grab it and run for the door even as our daughter was heading back in to retrieve it! Food: excellent. We tried the Dolma (superb), the calamari (some of the best we've ever had), the saganaki cheese flambé (lighting food on fire is an essential Greek dining experience!) and the pita and three dips platter (olive tapenade, tzatziki, and roasted red pepper feta). Drinks: my wife and I enjoyed our Rosemary Collins' cocktails and our daughters liked their mocktails. Dessert: also very good. We ordered the Chocolate mousse and Ekmek (they were out of the Bougatsa) and polished them both off! Ambience: lovely. Mixed experience for dinner. The chicken souvlaki was tender and flavorful. Maria's salad was tasty though mostly tomato and cucumbers with only a couple fragments of the advertised romaine lettuce. Large, attractive restaurant. When we arrived without a reservation at 5 pm on a Wednesday, the restaurant was nearly empty but we would have been seated next to a large, loud banquet group of about 20. The next seating option was in the restaurant rear with a view of the staff service area. We were moved to a better table upon request which was much appreciated. The restaurant was busy and our wait was only 5-10 min at 7 pm on a Saturday. The candles and colors were beautiful and very calming for a bustling restaurant. All the reviews were excited about the calamari but it was def not tender, a bit too salty, and I had multiple dry pieces that seemed like pieces of soft shell were attached (never experienced with calamari before). Made me wish I had the moussaka instead. I loved the potatoes and tzatziki sauce and appreciate that most things didn't rely heavily on salt for flavor. The chicken souvlaki was tender and flavorful. We ordered take out from this greek restaurant on our trip to Victoria and food was tasty and authentic but I was really missing pita bread to go with all the delicious tzatziki! We ordered: Chicken Souvlaki - A large skewer of tender and tasty chicken. They serve grilled veggies instead of greek salad but rice and potatoes made a good side. Lamb Shank - Best dish with fall off the bone lamb that was flavourful and melt in your mouth. Moussaka - Layers of eggplant, ground beef and a potato topping, this was very tasty and portion was not bad. Calamari - Least impressed with this dish as the pieces of calamari were very small beneath the batter. It was a bit soggy due to take out but I really didnt get the texture or flavour of "squid" anywhere in this appetizer. Keftedes - meatballs that were easy polished off by my family. Craving Greek food, which happens often with us, we were happy to find this restaurant within a five minute walk of our hotel. Mostly very positive reviews on here, with a few not so glowing, we felt that good outweighed the not so good. We are glad we made the choice for so many reasons. There was a Birthday party happening up in the elevated area so there was live music and some dancing going on which only added to our experience. The decor is definitely Greek in nature but understated, no hanging plants here thankfully. The service was excellent, with our waiter being exceptional, knowledgeable and obviously a veteran. The entire place was very clean, with the washrooms exactly as you want. The dancing once the tables were cleared made us feel as if we were in Greece without the broken plates. The food itself was fantastic, with every part of the meal incredibly well prepared, cooked to perfection, and wonderfully presented. First time to try this place and we were not disappointed! Warm and welcoming ambience with ample seating. Our server was friendly and had a wonderful sense of humor. Food took awhile to be served, but it was definitely worth the wait. Everything has to be relative for touristy Victoria, so although far from being the best Mediterranean restaurant possible, this place offers a decent sit down meal, especially after currency conversion. The calamari was some of the best and crunchiest I've had to date, which could've been 5 stars alone. The chicken souvlaki was disappointingly small and dry IMO. The accompanying rice pilaf pairs well enough, but doesn't stand out alone. Same for the lemon potatoes/mixed veggies without that traditional strong lemon flavor. The baklava was good for a fix, but was just too dense and sweet after a while. Service was courteous from calling in to check wait times/ making a reservation (highly encouraged) to dining in. Note the acoustics inside are terrible; the noise volume is magnified with echoing voices so it's definitely not the most calming for a young family or worth it as a date night. read more

The building as what you would think a Greek restaurant would look like it's white with blue trim, and a giant Greek windmill, like he would see on the island of Mykonos. Normally, you would need a reservation for this place, but they found us a spot in the lounge for us.The wait staff was nice and accommodating. We ordered entrées and a drink. My husband ordered a lamb shank, and I ordered the shrimp, chicken and pork souvlaki. My husband indicated that the lamb shank was quite fatty. However, it did have a good taste to it. My chicken and pork souvlaki tasted really good, and it was tender. The seasoning was spot on.The reason why I was giving only three star is because the shrimp tasted a bit fishy. The sides on both dishes came with braised carrots and zucchini along with lemon herb potatoes. The vegetables were tender and had a good flavor. It took approximately 10 minutes for us to get our meal, which was very quick. The restaurant was busy but the waitress was attentive. Great time celebrating our friends 55th anniversary last night. They had a special table for us and service was excellent throughout the evening! The Empress Gin martinis were delicious! Had the calamari and it was loved by all of us. The salads were excellent, especially the Greek salad. Dressing was quite yummy. As for entrees, the ribs and Moussaka were the biggest hits. The food, drinks, ambiance and service at Ithaka was excellent. I started with a red wine flight, my daughter had an ouzo fizzy lemonade cocktail, and my wife and other daughter had mocktails. The cocktail was tasty with a citrusy sweet flavor against the anise of the ouzo. Our appetizers included saganaki flambé and avgolemono soup. The table side presentation of the saganaki was spectacular with the flame of the flambé rising up with an enthusiastic exclamation of "OPA!" shouted by the servers. The saganaki was deliciously cheesy with a hint of tanginess. The soup was spot on. We ordered the Greek platter which included moussaka, dolmades, roasted lamb, chicken souvlaki, spanakopita, kalamari, rice, toasted potatoes, roasted veggies, and a Greek salad. We were blown away by how delicious everything in the platter was. The kalamari was light and crispy with a nice tzatziki sauce. The Greek salad was hearty and dressed perfectly. The spanakopita was triangularly shaped with a delightful flaky crust. The dolmades was the best I've ever had. The rice filling was nicely wrapped in tasty grape leaves. The house special roasted lamb shank was exceptionally tender and flavorful. It was served with au jus. The moussaka was substantial in size with layers of zucchini, eggplant, potatoes cooked in meat sauce and topped with bechamel sauce. The chicken souvlaki was perfectly grilled and served on a bed of rice. We finished our meal with a thick and yummy portion tiramisu shared by all. I loved all of them, the first one (Sauvignon blanc one) was my least favorite. The orzo in my soup was so big, it threw me off but it was great flavor!! The calamari was great! This hit the spot for me and my friends. We got a couple different items and two wine tastings, and a baklava. I love the grilled chicken, it has crispy skin, great flavor and was very moist. The prime rib special was great as well. The sides weren't amazing (rice and veggies) just average. The gyro wasn't built well for my liking. Some bites had only meat, and some had only veggies and sauce. The meat was sliced thin but was dry. The side Greek salad was as tomato heavy.
