Food was amazing. Came for the vegan options, vegan combination and the masala curry with tofu. Highly recommended dishes. It was nice to find a dedicated vegan section on the menu. The food did not disappoint however service did. We were the forgotten table. No water re-fills, no check-in to see how we're doing or if we needed anything. And long wait for our check. Tumeric has become my favourite place to go for lunch in Langford. The buffet is always fresh and delicious. There is always at least one new item to try. Today it was a pasta salad with a flavourful twist of Asian spice. The staff are always friendly and the service is great. The dishes are tasty, fresh, and not oily like some of the other Indian restaurants out there. I appreciate that they also cater to dietary restrictions and they have dairy-free or gluten-friendly options. This time, I got saffron rice, potato parantha, naan, whole wheat roti, veggie korma, bhindi masala, and their chili paneer. They were all so delicious and those Indian spices hit the spot. The chili paneer was tangy and spicy, just like it should be. The bhindi masala with the addition of potatoes was very interesting, appetizing, and left a comforting feeling. The veggie korma was well done with the addition of fresh vegetables, not frozen, which is key in a korma. The cashew base sauce with the spices were perfect. I came in for the lunch buffet and came out extremely happy. The vegetarian options were delicious, I mostly filled up on the yellow dal. The servers were very friendly and the buffet was constantly being stocked back up during my stay so the food was always fresh. My parents said the meat dishes were also delicious, especially the butter chicken and the lamb saag. read more

We are visiting from CA, so I can't speak to how this restaurant compares to its local peers, however, as longtime travelers, we know stand out North Indian when we find it - and this was it. Charming outdoors and in, with warm and inviting ambiance and super friendly servers. The scent of the kitchen is heavenly and fills the whole place. We are vegetarian, and not only are there ample choices, but each is thoughtfully prepared, and the flavors are just so. The wide array of appetizers - we tried the pani poori (a special), the potato and pea cakes, and the samosas. None disappointed, and this was the best, crispest, most intoxicating and fresh tasting pani poori we have tried. The mango lassi was delicious too, and the masala chai was steaming hot (maybe a tad too steaming hot!) and tasty. For mains we had Daal Turks and Saagwala with roti and saffron rice. It's a nice restaurant, decoration is nice, service is also excellent. Food is nice and you can feel that all meals are made with all right amount of spices (wich is good cause nobody like a stomach ache Lol). Everything is fresh and my chicken vindaloo was more than onctuous and very tasty. This is family owned authentic indian cuisine, like i use to say if indians (or Chinese, or Greeks eat their food there must be good holy shhhhh.). On Saturday they have a sitar player ( how many string to sound like that when as a gtr player i can sound like that with a gtr an amp an a pedal Lol). They have a belly dancer on saturday. Centralized in Langford, right by Darcy's Pub and Browns Social House, Turmeric is located right on the corner of the busy, up and coming Goldstream Ave. Arriving at Turmeric in the late afternoon for a little buffet action, I was stunned by the beauty of the interior setting. I found the atmosphere to be upscale with a casual aura. Right off the bat, I was welcomed and asked if I was there for the buffet which I happily replied yes to. I was then told to pick a table wherever I'd like. The waiter asked if I wanted anything to drink which I asked for a glass of water. He came back with my water and a nice slice of orange for garnish. I was ready to dig in as I was extremely hungry and couldn't bare another second of smelling those delicious spices and not getting to taste any of it. So I grabbed my plate and headed for the serving station. I heard one of the ladies saying that the rotation of items during the buffet change everyday besides the butter chicken and naan bread. They also have these onions that must have been deep fried or something but they were the bomb dot com, especially when mixed with the coconut curry and rice. I don't eat Indian or ethnic foods all that often but I do love branching out because outside of this beautiful country of Canada, they know how to spice up your life so I'm very glad I was introduced to this spot. we were looking forward to trying Tumeric. Our drink and dinner were taken shortly after arriving. The restaurant was about 25% full. Saw steady stream of Skip The Dishes staff arriving and taking away large orders. At the time were there I saw at least 20 people come in for pick up. The kitchen was turning out the orders but it was all going out to the door. The diners behind us were grumbling and left before their included dessert was served. After 45 minutes we ask them for a bill for a drinks as we wanted to leave. Was told our food was 'just up' and they would pack it up. That took another 20 minutes. I hope it is as good as advertise, we are having it for dinner tonight. read more

I don' think I've ever ordered takeout from this restaurant that has been ready on time. Whatever time their online ordering system says your food will be ready, you need to add at least 10 minutes to it. And what's more, since most of my order was ready and we were waiting only for the naan bread, the food was cooling off and it was well cold by the time I got home. Poor time management skills and poor ability to prepare foods in the correct order so everything stays hot at time of pickup. read more

Ok, I travel for a living and work all over canada. I also will try butter chicken almost anywhere they make it. Having said that; I brought my indian friend along since we were in the neighbourhood to try some indian. He had the lamb curry and I the butter chicken. Over all I'd say the sauce was creamy and the chicken tender. But it lacked flavour. Same for my friends lamb. I also had some rice and it was as plain as I have ever Seen it. I'd say a 2 star. The star of the show was the naan I had the garlic version and it was vry good. Even to say one of the best I have ever had. We would not sèk this place our before trying some others. Best Indian I've had in the greater Victoria area. Had the butter chicken and the paneer/peas and the potato samosas. Kind and generous staff, great value for your $ in the dishes, and the medium spice is exactly that! One star because I'm more of a puffy soft naan person than a harder leathery naan - I had to cut it up because my kids couldn't tear it with their teeth. Cannot wait to go back and try some of the awesome looking things on the menu. read more

I had the vegan thali and my husband had the chicken biryani. They asked us to choose between mild, medium and hot levels for spice and we Chose hot and it was just mild! In the thali I had the baingan bhartha, dal and aloo fry with rice and roti and nothing had a good taste- the baingan bhartha had a burnt smell. The only item that was okay was the gobi fry. My husband's favorite dish is chicken biryani and he did not even eat half of it- the biryani did not have raitha or any sauce on the side. When I need a consistently good meal, satisfying, filling, and leaving me feeling it was money well spent, this is my go to restaurant in the Westshore. I've always had great service, never not had a substitution allowed or spice density reduced if requested, and no pressure tactics with just the right amount of service. Took a family member there in July 2020, lots of social distancing room, the combination meal was really good and I had no complaints. They do take out too. Let's keep supporting this business. A friend and I had lunch here recently while she was in town. She wanted something different, so we decided to take a chance. We were very impressed with the variety on the menu. They cater to many issues, including dairy intolerance and Celiacs, and were willing to substitute gluten free items whenever possible. I just found this new amazing restaurant and it's now on my top 5 spots to chow down in Langford. If you like authentic Indian food with an incredible variety of flavours and dishes, this is the spot for you. Decor is ok, staff is fantastic and food is even better. I really really love everything about this place. The owner even came out to ask us what we thought and if there was anything we thought he could do to make it better. The decor is ok but who cares when the food is this amazing. Could be the best on the Island! I honestly can't even think of any better place in Vancouver let alone Victoria. I ate the Coconut Curry with Crispy Prawns and jebus it was so damn good. In fact, I am going head there for lunch today. UPDATE: I tried out the lunch buffet. They are so darn sweet there. We showed up at 2:10 and the buffet closes at 2:30 but they still insisted on bringing out fresh stuff. It was delicious again... Tried the Thali which is a combination of several plates divided by the tray, it had butter chicken, lamb curry. chicken samosa, rice, naan and a gulab juman (desert ball like a donut with syrup. Im extremely picky when it comes to Indian food as I love to cook and have tried many Indian restaurants. The Bad: Chicken Samosa was very dry and flavorless The Good: The butter chicken was absolutely wonderful. Great spice misture and had a strong yet awesome flaour of cardomoms which worked really well, very impressed, a butter chicken unlike any Ive had in this city. The Lamb curry was also perfectly spiced and delicious. The rice and Naan were good. I didn't expect a whole lot but came away very impressed with the flavour of the food. This restaurant has the best Indian buffet in Victoria/langford. What I love the most is that the buffet is reasonably priced at approximately $12. Although the curries are great and the gravy is usually very thick and tasty I am a little disappointed with the quality of their dessert. I ordered their Gulab Jamun and what I received was 2 Gulab Jamuns with very generic gross vanilla ice cream. I didn't like the quality of the Gulab Jamun either. I have to reiterate that the food here is the best Indian food I have had in Victoria and at a reasonable price. The buffet is definitely a must try. I hope the owners would address the poor quality of the dessert and make necessary changes. I hope to visit them again soon. read more

First and foremost, the food was excellent! Nothing against the kitchen. It was the service that was the absolute worst we've ever experienced. There were 3 people waiting tables, 2 nice ladies and a guy in a vest. The ladies appeared to be assigned other sections. Cool, I understand that's how restaurants work. My issue is with the guy in the vest. I'm pretty positive that we were labeled as tourist and the "3 Asians and the black guy with an infant" as our service reflected that stereotype. We felt rushed to order, so we started with an appetizer. Soon after we ordered our main courses. As soon as those were brought to the table, we were ignored. We were not checked on, our water glasses empty... Hell, even the people at Fatburger ask how the food turned out. To top it off, we had to flag him down twice and as for the check. Meanwhile, the table next to us with 5 couples and a table for 2 behind us (which were seated after us by the way) were given all the service that you would expect from any nice restaurant. Needless to say, I will NEVER patronize this business again. My wife says I'm too generous when it comes to tipping as I start at 20% and work my way up or down depending on how the service was. Typically, that 20% default is what we pay, even when the service is just alright. That said, we had a very hard time even leaving this guy a 10% tip on an $85 bill. read more

I've been here before for takeout but this was my first time eating in and we had an amazing experience! We called beforehand since we were coming close to closing, but they happily welcomed us. Our server was very nice and helpful, and gave us some recommendations which really helped. This was my mom's first time eating Indian and she loved it, which she was a little hesitant about. The butter sauce was amazing, and the paneer was delicious. Their lamb chops were also very good, with a side of curry. And the naan was so fresh and warm, it just completed the whole meal. Amazing! Super delicious Indian. Well made with quality ingredients. This isn't grease-pot curry that you get at a lot of places. The lunch/brunch buffet is a phenomenal deal. You expect that they'll have a handful of dishes sitting under their hot-lights for the whole buffet, but they make fairly small batches of each dish (usually 6-8 hot, plus salad dishes), and they constantly refill them with fresh-made from the kitchen. And the naan. Oh, the naan. So good. Honestly the bottomless fresh naan would be worth the price of the lunch buffet. We've done the buffet three times, and they've had a different variety of dishes each time. Dinner is terrific as well, but unless you're in a big group, the only drawback is that you don't get to sample as many of the dishes! Try it once. You'll be back. Oh, and the staff is super friendly there! Seems like it's run by a young couple/partnership. They seem genuinely interested in making your experience a pleasant (and delicious) one. read more

Turmeric chicken Tikka was really tender and flavourful, Pakiras was OK, Vindaloo+Lamb was absolutely tasty, And the NAAN BREAD was surprisingly great, probably the best Naan in town, at least to us.
