Decided to give Next Door a try. Glad we did! The tapas came out in a jiff. We ordered: - Caesar Salad - tasted really good - Spanokopita - 5 little cheese spinach triangles, served very warm with a nice tomato sauce - Shrimp Skillet - Sautéed tiger prawns with diced tomatoes, red onion, capers, oregano & Greek feta cheese - this was such a yummy dish - I'll make sure that I would some pita to sop up this wonderful sauce. - Gnocchi Poutine - fried gnocchi with cheese curds drizzled in demi-glaze - quite tasty - Scallop Avocado - seared scallops over avocado mousse & crispy tortilla - I like this tapas dish! Delish! Service was great. I'd come back to try other tapas or even their express lunch menu which looked interesting.

From top right clockwise: Gnocchi Poutine, garlic toast, tenderloin bites, Parmesan Truffle Fries, Ahi Ahi Tuna Carpaccio

When we walked in the restaurant we noticed there are two seating sections: one was completely empty & had a guy behind a piano playing music while the other section was where all the customers were seated. Anyway, that was a little weird but you could still hear the live music quite well. The orders were placed & the wine was poured & as the food kept coming, the smiles got bigger & bigger. My only drawback to this place is that some of the portions, and notice I say some, were little small. The food was good specially the scallop avocado. Also the coffee & desserts were to perfection. I would definitely recommend the Garlic toast & Dolmades too. :)) Server/ Host knowledge: 4 Server/host attitude: 4.5 Fast service: 4 Food Menu: 4 Drinks Menu: 4 Food quality: 4.5 Food Portion: 3 Ambience: 4.5 Distance to other tables: 4 Cleanliness: 4.5 Comfort: 4.5 Waiting time to get seated: 5 Price: 4

I have heard of this place a couple time but had never checked it out, but I'm glad I finally did! On the outside it doesn't look like much, but it has a classy vibe inside. It was not very busy when I went, even though it was a Friday evening at dinner. We had the charcuterie board and flaming cheese, both amazing. Make sure to get the flaming cheese with pita, perfect combination. We also got the creme brûlée, delicious. Our server was also so sweet. I 100% recommend this place

Delicious fresh ingredients, low prices, uptown adult only dinning experience! $35 tasting menu ($20 for lunch). Great for a business lunch or romantic dinner. Definitely a cut above most of the restaurants I've been to in the South. You used to have to travel downtown for a restaurant this good - not anymore! Try anything Italian on the menu... We quickly realized the chef is Italian, by tasting the pasta dishes, and finding out the deserts are made in-house! Tiramisu, Tomato bocconcini salad and Ravioli were excellent! Also, the restaurant itself is completely renovated. Very comfortable seating with a romantic ambiance at night. Next to London Drugs on Heritage and Macleod.

Meet the masterminds behind my inclusion at this event!

So we were in a pasta mood and ordered the lasagna and the cannelloni. Sad news for the cannelloni: we felt they were flavorful, but too dry inside. Cannot recommend. The lasagna was very tasty, but for my liking it had very little cheese. We did eat all the portion though ;) it was flavorful. Italian cuisine varies from region to region, we were expecting a plate covered in bechamel for the cannelloni and there was none. So it did not meet expectations... but the pasta was good, home made, thin, and the sauces were flavorful... so a solid 3 stars for good quality. I do have to say that our waiter approached us to ask if all was to our liking, and only at the end did I disclose our disappointment... I didn't know what they could do to make it better...and we were so hungry we had already eaten half anyways... well in this they excelled as they comped our cannelloni and gave us a very good tiramisu to top it off! Definitely 5 star customer service! This is a local family owned restaurant that prides itself in having happy customers, and we are just passing by... nonetheless they really tried, and succeeded, in having us leave with a happy face. And that gives them a solid 4 star overall! Enjoy.

Really satisfying. French onion soup was the reason we returned (we don't live in Calgary). As good as I remember - broth is perfect, good amount of bread in the bowl, toasted cheese on top. Highly recommend. Caesar salad was meh. Lettuce/dressing tasted really watery. Skip it if you have high caesar salad expectations. **Edit to add pictures.

We were greeted by a group of bartenders (who all happened to be wearing toques) when we walked in, and I felt both welcomed and slightly out of place (no toque). The cocktails were meticulously crafted--priced at $15-20 a drink, it's on par with bigger cities like Vancouver and Toronto, but they also live up to the standard. Honestly, the highlight of our visit to Missy's was the Missy's This That charcuterie board. Each piece of cured meat was sliced impossibly thin, the olives were meaty and delicious, and the cheeses were carefully selected to complement everything. I loved that it also came with a side of thick cut bread and pickled vegetables. One of the best charcuterie boards I've had at a restaurant for sure. Not cheap but worth the pretty penny on a slightly fancy night out.
